England are reduced to 182 for six in 47.3 overs, still needing another 49 runs to avoid the innings defeat.
Jonny Bairstow kept England afloat with a fighting half-century as he stroked 50 not out. He had put on 92 runs for the fourth wicket with Joe Root, who made 77, to rally England after they had lost a few early wickets.
Ashwin and Jadeja picked up two wickets each, while Jayant and Bhuvneshwar bagged a wicket each.
Earlier, India were bowled out for a massive 631 in 182.3 overs to grab a huge
first innings lead of 231 runs, in the post-lunch session on Day 4.
Kohli
smashed a career-best 235, and was involved in a record eighth wicket
partnership of 241 runs with Jayant Yadav, who became the first Indian
batsman to score a century at No. 9.
Jayant hit his maiden Test century, as he played a superb knock of 104 runs, hitting 15 fours in his 204-ball knock.
