A magnificent batting effort by Rohit Sharma (87) and an equally impressive bowling performance by Harbhajan Singh (five for 18) helped Mumbai Indians score a comfortable run win over defending champions Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League match at the Wankhede stadium on Friday.
Chasing a formidable target (165), Chennai could muster only 156 for nine. S Badrinath top scored with an unbeaten 71, his 49-ball knock inclusive of seven hits to the fence and two over it.
It was a sweet revenge for the hosts who had been pipped to the post by the visitors in the final last year.
It was Mumbai's fourth win in five matches and consolidated their place atop the table. On the other hand it was the third successive reverse for Chennai, following wins in their two opening encounters.
The defending champions need to do some serious rethinking ahead of their next match against Pune Warriors on Monday.

Thirteen runs come off Sathish's over with Hussey hitting successive boundaries.
Malinga is re-introduced into the attack in the 12th over - Tendulkar has had six different bowlers bowling in the last six overs.
However, this move works as Malinga has the dangerous Hussey (41) caught by Pollard at midwicket.
Hussey's dismissal brings an end to a 60-run partnership for the third wicket that came in just 39 balls.
MS Dhoni, the captain, comes in to bat. A couple from his blade helps Chennai reach teh 100-runmark in the 12th over.

Rohit Sharma replaces Harbhajan (2-0-10-1) in the ninth over. Badri hits the second ball past short third man to get his fourth boundary. And the fifth ball he hits straight over the bowler's head for a maximum.
Rohit's first over is an expensive one - 15 runs come off it.
Kieron Pollard comes in to replace Abu Nechim in the 10th over. Hussey pulls the first ball to deep backard square leg to earn his fourth boundary.

Bollinger bowls the final over. And in the second ball he accounts for Rohit Sharma (87) , caught by Hussey at long on.
Sharma's 48-ball innings was inclusive of eight hits to the fence and five over it. His dismissal ends an 87-run partnership for the fourth wicket that came in just 49 balls.
It is a good final over from Bollinger (4-0-30-2), with just four runs coming off it.
Symonds remains unbeaten on 31 as Mumbai Indians manage 164 for four in their stipulated quota of overs.

The decision to include him is procing costly for Chennai.

"We are in a decent position, having won two and lost two, and it is important to start well today," said Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
