Chennai thrash Pune by 25 runs

Chennai Super Kings beat Pune Warriors by 25 runs in their Indian Premier League match in the Chidambaram stadium on Monday.
The win is the defending champions' third in six matches in this edition and comes after successive defeats at the hands of Kochi and Mumbai. It is their third straight win at home.
On the other hand, it is the third straight defeat for Pune.
Chasing a competitive 143 to win, the debutants could manage only 117 for nine in their stipulated quota of overs.
Yuvraj Singh top-scored with 34 but was way below his best, taking up 43 balls to nudge up his runs.
Albie Morkel was the pick of Chennai bowlers with figures of three for 29.

Nathan McCullum comes in to replace Manhas.

Mishra survives a loud caught behind appeal in the second ball. Three runs come off the opening over.
Doug Bollinger comes in to bowl the second over. And Ryder welcomes him by pulling over square leg for a boundary.

However, Badri despatches the second ball of the final over by Taylor for a maximum over mid-off. The over though is a good one for Pune overall, with Aniruddha (7) getting caught behind off the last ball.
Taylor finishes with impressive figures of three for 30.
Put into bat, Chennai managed 142 for six in their stipulated quota of overs. A disappointing effort considering the start they had.

Two successive boundaries by Dhoni after resumption, off Sharma, brings on the 50-run partnership for the third wicket, 52 to be precise.
However, that is where the stand ends, with Sharma having Dhoni (26) stumped. It is 11 for three after 17 overs.
Albie Morkel comes in ahead of Badrinath. And it is Taylor back into the attack for Pune. Hussey welcomes him back with a boundary over extra cover.
However, in the next ball Manish Pandey takes a spectacular catch at long on to send back Hussey (61). Two balls later Albie Morkel (0) hits straight to Jesse Ryder at cover.
After 18 overs, Chennai has made 126 for five.

MS Dhoni comes in to bat. And his Pune counterpart, Yuvraj Singh comes in to bowl and concedes only three runs.
Kartik continues in the 12th over and gives away five runs. Yuvraj comes in to bowl his second over and he concedes 11 runs, including a maximum to his opposite number.
Kartik bowls an excellent third over, giving away just four runs. He finishes with none for 29.
Rahul Sharma is back in the 15th over and Hussey gets a boundary past short third man.
And in Thomas' next over the Australian reaches his fifty with a boundary past extra cover.The shot also helps Chennai get past the 100-run mark.
At the second strategic timeout (after 16 overs), the home side has made 109 for two.

He concedes just three runs.
Kartik continues and Vijay welcomes him a second time by lofting him straight over the ground. 10 runs come from the over.
At the first strategic timeout, Chennai is in a good position at 58 without loss.
And in the first over after resumption, Hussey is dropped by Yuvraj at extra cover.
However, Thomas does give Pune the breakthrough in the next over, having Vijay (31) caught by McCullum at midwicket. It is 64 for one.
Four balls later, thomas cleans up Suresh Raina (2). 66 for two then.

Taylore is back in the attack in the fifth over and some sloppy work by McCullum at mid-off ensures Hussey a boundary.
Murali Kartik comes in to bowl in the sixth over. Hussey helps himself to a couple of boundaries in the over, albeit with a bit of luck.

Pune Warriors won the toss and invited Chennai Super Kings to bat first in their Indian Premier League match in Chennai on Monday.
"It is a very hard wicket and it won't change much," reasoned captain Yuvraj Singh, adding, "We have not done well batting first." MS Dhoni, his Chennai counterpart, was unperturbed.
"We were looking to bat first in any case, he said, adding, "Batting is our strength.
"And I don't think the surface will be as good as the last match we played here. It will get slower."
