Tendulkar castled by Siddle, misses ton again

Peter Siddle's persistence finally paid off as he castled Sachin Tendulkar for 73.

 

Siddle bowled a full length ball, wide outside off stump, as Tendulkar went in for the drive and missed the ball completly as the ball clipped the stumps much to the disappointment of the fans.

 

India were 214-3 after 64.4 overs.

Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar hit contrasting fifties to put India in control of the Test.

 

Dravid reached his 63rd half-century with a streaky boundary off Ben Hilfenhaus, while Tendulkar reached the landmark with a single of Nathan Lyon -- his 64th in Tests

 

The duo has put on a 112-run so far as India trail by 123 runs.

 

At the end of 60overs India were 210-2. Tendulkar is on 69, while Dravid is on 68.

Well the post tea session has been quite productive as Tendulkar and Dravid have upped the tempo.

 

Tendulkar in particular have looked the positive of the two whipping Peter Siddle for a six and couple of creamy boundaries.

 

The duo has put on a 50-runs stand for the third wicket to give India the edge aslo bringing the 150-runs for India.

 

Earlier, Virender Sehwag smashed 67 to flatten the opposition.

 

India were 152-2 in 43 overs. Dravid is on 42, while Tendulkar is on 38

Siddle into the attack after tea and what a start!!!

 

Tendulkar upper-cuts him for a six first ball after tea! Short and wide outside off, not much width, Master Baster smacks it over slips.

 

Siddle follows it up with a over-pitch deliver down the leg side as Tendulkar turns one on the leg side for three runs.

 

India were 116-2 after 34 overs. Dravid is on 32, while Tendulkar is on 12

James Pattinson strikes for Australia as he had Virender Sehwag walking back to the pavilion after a well made 67.

 

The lanky pacer induced a flase stroke from the Indian opener as he chopped one back onto the stumps much to the delight of the Aussie players.

 

India were 98-2 after 29 overs.

Virender Sehwag is leading India's charge with another half-century. Sehwag was severe on spinner Nathan Lyon as he smashed consecutive boundaries.

 

With the fielders in three-fourth of the way he first hit to the right of the fielder and then to the left of the fielder to complete.

 

Then he chipped one in the air, where the ball dropped just short of the fielder in the deep.

 

India were 82-1 after 21 overs. Sehwag is on 58, while Dravid is on 20

Virender Sehwag is leading India's charge as smashes Peter Siddle for consecutive boundaries in the over.

 

Siddle pitches one wide of off stump, and Sehwag opened the face as he drives on the up as the ball greases past mid-off for the boundary.

 

Viru then cuts a back of a length delivery for another bounday as India cross the 50-run mark.

 

India were 56-1 after 16 overs. Sehwag is on 40, while Dravid is on 12.

Ben Hilfenhaus strikes for Australia early after lunch as he removes Gautam Gambhir for three.

 

Gambhir was living dangerously, edged one to Brad Haddin much to the delight of Aussie fans.

Indians are off to a steady start after restricting Australia to 333. Opener Virender Sehwag as usual is the agressive of the two smashing Pattinson for a boundary to set the ball rolling.

 

The very next ball Viru was dropped by Hussey -- tough chance to say the least. Sehwag intentionally plays the steer in the air, and Hussey flies away to his right to catch it.

 

India 21-0 after seven overs. Sehwag is on 17, while Gambhir is on three.

Well the Indian openers have managed to negotiate tricky period before lunch after the visitors bundled out the Australia for 333.

 

Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag face three overs to reach 6-0.

 

Earlier, Zaheer Khan and R Ashwin restricted Australia to 333. Zaheer finished with 4-77, while Ashwin managed with 3-81.

Gautam Gambhir will open the proceedings, while James Pattinson will open the attack for the Aussies.

Ashwin first had Ben Hilfenhaus for 19, then cleaned up Nathan Lyon's stumps for six.

 

All in all it was good performance from Aussie lower order but the good news for India was that Zaheer Khan has done well in his comeback Test, finishing with 4-77.

 

Peter Siddle, Brad Haddin, James Pattinson all played crucial hand after Ed Cowan and Ricky Ponting hit half-centuries on Day I.

R Ashwin strikes in his first over as he removes Ben Hilfenhaus for 19 to provide the much-needed breakthrough for India.

 

A tossed up delivery as Hilfenhaus couldn't resist going after the bowler, but he could only get the height not the distance and was safely pouched by Virat Kohli at long-on.

 

Australia lose their ninth wicket as the hosts reach 319/9 after 106 overs.

Australia's lower order is showing good resistance after Zaheer Khan dismissed the two overnight batsman in space of two overs.

 

James Pattinson has been good with his defence, while Ben Hilfenhaus has used the long handle to good effect.

 

Apart from Zaheer, Indian bowlers haven't really looked like picking up the wicket. Umesh Yadav bowled with fire, but didn't lookm threatening, while Ishant Sharma has used short ball way too much.

 

Australia were 311-8 after 102 overs. The duo have put on a 20 for ninth wicket. Pattinson is on seven, while Hilfenhaus is on 14.

Zaheer Khan strikes again for India; he now removes the other overnight batsman, Peter Siddle, for 41.

 

Siddle, who frustrated the Indians, got a peach of a delivery and could do nothing but to edge it to MS Dhoni behind the stumps and give Zaheer his fourth wicket of the match.

 

The Indian bowlers have been good so far, giving little away. Australia 295-8 after 97 overs.

 

Ben Hilfenhaus is on four, while James Pattinson is on one.

Zaheer Khan to start the second over of the day, after Umesh Yadav began proceedings for India.  

 

Siddle gets the innings going with three runs through midwicket. Zak follows it with a beauty -- beating Haddin -- no edge though.

 

Zaheer strikes off the final ball off the over!!!!

 

After three inswingers, Zaheer angles one outside, Haddin slashes at it hard and is comfortably taken by Virender Sehwag in the gully. Breakthrough for India!!!

 

But umpires want to check the no-ball before they allow Haddin to walk off the field. Replays show Zaheer's heel just landed before.

 

Haddin is back in the hut for 27.

 

Australia 286-7, Siddle is on 37, along with Pattinson, who is yet to open his account.
