Live Scorecard:

Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman lived to fight another day for India in the second innings of the opening Test against England at Lords on Sunday.

The veteran pair survived a barrage of hostile deliveries, and hit some exquisite boundaries, to ensure the Indian hopes of a draw (a win being out of question at this juncture) remained intact.

Dravid, who scored a dogged 103 not out to help India avoid follow-on in the first innings, was unbeaten on 34 with Laxman providing the required support on 32. The duo were involved in a 61-run stand for the second wicket.

At stumps on day four, the visitors had made 80 for one, needing a further 378 to win.

With Sachin Tendulkar down with a viral infection and Gautam Gambhir, injuring himself while fielding, India will have a tough task ahead of them in the final day. Even Zaheer Khan, who didnt bowl at all in the second innings, has not fully recovered from his hamstring injury.

Earlier, England declared their second innings at 269 for six, to take their overall lead to 457.

Matt Prior was the architect-in-chief for the home team with a magnificent 103 not out. The 29-year-olds 120-ball knock was inclusive of five hits to the fence and one over it. It was the England stumpers sixth Test hundred, albeit his first against India

Live Scorecard:

With three of their crucial players injured, it is up to the two veterans on crease now to fight it out for the remainder of the day.

And Dravid and Laxman have done a good job thus far.

Dravid, the first innings centurion in particular, has played some exquisite shots.

India have reached 33 for one in 15 overs.

Live Scorecard:

Stuart Broad comes in as the first change, in the ninth over, replacing James Anderson (4-0-13-0).

And he strikes with his third ball, cleaning up Abhinav Mukund (12) for a second time in this match. VVS Laxman comes in to bat.

India 20 for one after nine overs.
22:05

With Gautam Gambhir injured, Rahul Dravid has come in to open the innings with Abhinav Mukund.

The duo have made a good start.

After seven hours, India has made 18 without loss.

Live Scorecard:

A single by Broad off Ishant in the 66th over makes England's overall lead 400.

The 12th man comes on to the field, making a declaration imminent.

Meanwhile, Gambhir, who was hit by a Prior shot, has gone for an x-ray. That's more bad news for India. Sachin is down with a viral and Zaheer is not fit as well.

With his bowlers not being able to provide wickets, Dhoni is forced to bowl Raina and even himself.

the result, Prior gets his sixth Test hundred doubly quick.

England declare their second innings at 269-6 (71 overs). Prior was unbeaten on 103 and Broad on 74 and the two put on 162 runs in an unbroken seventh wicket stand.

India now need 458 runs to win the match.
20:58
Live Scorecard:

The Prior-Broad stand is slowly but surely taking the match out of India's reach.

A boundary to fine-leg by Broad off Ishant helps England get past the 200-run mark in the second innings. The home team is inching towards extending their overall lead to 400 and Broad is inching towards a well-deserved half century.

He reaches his seventh Test fifty with a single off Harbhajan. Soon after the 100-run partnership for the seventh wicket is achieved.

England have reached 208 for six after 65 overs.
20:15
Live Scorecard:

Matt Prior inspired an England comeback against India in the second innings on day four of the opening Test at Lords on Sunday.

At tea, the home team had made 174 for six, for an overall lead of 362.

Prior was batting on 55, his second half century of the match, and giving him company was Stuart Broad on 36. The duo had put on 67 runs for the seventh wicket to frustrate the Indians in the second session.

Ishant Sharma, wayward, expensive and wicketless in the first innings, is Indias bowling hero in the second with figures of four for 41 off 18 overs.

Live Scorecard:

When Broad hits Kumar past mid-on for his third boundary, it brings up the 50-run partnership for the seventh wicket.

It is the first 50-plus partnership in the England second innings. A boundary by Broad (his fourth) over extra cover off Kumar helps England extend their overall lead to beyond 350.

Even as Raina is back into the attack, in the 57th over replacing Harbhajan (18-1-50-1), Prior takes a single to reach a well-deserved half-century.

The English stumper has now hit fifties in both the innings.

England 168 for six after 57 overs.

Live Scorecard:

Prior's first boundary, a delightful shot off Ishant through covers, helps take England's lead past the 300-run mark.

A big psychological advantage this.

Broad is proving a perfect foil for Prior and the duo are frustrating the Indians to no end. A single by Prior of Harbhajn helps his side reach the 150-run mark.

England have reached 153 for six after 53 overs.

Live Scorecard:

Morgan and Prior are building on a good partnership here.

A single by Prior off Harbhajan helps England reach the 100-run mark in their second innings.

Ishant Sharma has been introduced into the attack in the 42nd over (the 11th after lunch), replacing Praveen Kumar (16-2-46-1).

In the first 10 overs after lunch, England added 32 runs to their total.

And Ishant gets a breakthrough in his second over, having Morgan (19) caught by Gambhir at midwicket. The umpires go upstairs but replays suggests the batsman is out. It is the fourth wicket of the innings for Ishant.

Morgan's dismissal ends his 45-run sixth wicket stand with Prior. England 108 for six after 44 overs.

18:31
Live Scorecard:

Suresh Raina to bowl the first over after lunch. He concedes four. Harbhajan continues from the other end before Kumar is brought back to replace Raina.

Dhoni's idea of using Raina for an over remains unexplained. So is his decision of not using Ishant.

After 37 overs, England has made 94 for five.

17:34
Live Scorecard:

Harbhajan (6-0-14-1) is replaced by Kumar in the 31st over.

At lunch, the home team has made 72 for five (after 31 overs) for an overall lead of 260.

Eoin Morgan is batting on five and giving him company is Matt Prior on five as well.

Ishant Sharma, wayward, expensive and wicketless in the first innings, is Indias bowling hero in the second with figures of three for 15 off 13 overs.

Bluntly put, it was a disastrous morning session for England. And their batting collapse has ensured the possibility of a result in this match remains.

17:17
Live Scorecard:

Trott smashes a boundary past point of the first ball of Harbhajan's fifth over to ease the pressure.

However, Ishant strikes for a third time shortly after to increase England's cup of woes.

The lanky bowler rattles Trott's (22) stumps in his 12th over to reduce the home team to 62 for five after 28 overs.

Matt Prior comes in to bat and salvage an otherwise disastrous session for the hosts.
17:00

Ishant Sharma strikes twice in an over to peg back England.

Both Kevin Pietersen (1) and Ian Bell (0) are caught behind in the space of five balls.

England reduced to 55 for four after 24 overs.
16:51
Live Scorecard:

Harbhajan Singh has been introduced into the attack in the 18th over, replacing Ishant (8-3-11-0).

Ishant replaces Harbhajan, who in turn replaces Kumar (11-1-34-1).

Bhajji strikes with his third ball, having Strauss (32) leg before. It is his first wicket of the match.

Kevin Pietersen has come in to replace his captain.

England down to 55 for two after 23 overs.
16:30
Live Scorecard:

Jonathan Trott has come in to replace Cook.

He hits his first boundary of the 14th ball he faced, off Ishant.

It is a bright and sunny day, and as was the case yesterday, 98 overs will be bowled today to make up for the time lost on the opening day.

And Strauss and Trott seem to be combining well, despite the latter surviving a run out attempt.

England 50 for one after 19 overs.
15:54
Live Scorecard:

Praveen Kumar to bowl the second over of the day.

In the fourth ball of the over, Strauss hits a boundary to fine leg.

It is the England captain's first four of the innings, of the 25th ball he faced. The second comes next ball, on this occasion clobbered to midwicket.

Cook gets off the mark of the 18th ball he faces. Strauss, meanwhile, continues his domination of Kumar, hitting a third boundary off the bowler, over midwicket.

However, Kumar does account for Cook, having him caught behind for one.

It was only the second ball Cook faced from Kumar.

England 23 for one after 11 overs.
15:33
Live Scorecard:

Play starts. Ishant Sharma to begin the proceedings for India on Day Four.

The first runs of the day comes off the fourth ball, by Strauss
