England end Day Two on 24 for one

At stumps on the second day, the home team had made 24 for one in their second innings, still 43 runs adrift.
Ian Bell was batting on nine and giving him company was his captain, Andrew Strauss, on six.

Andrew Strauss and Alastair Cook come out to open the innings for England while it will be Praveen Kumar opening the bowling for India.
The first over is a maiden. Cook hits the second ball he faces (off Ishant) to the midwicket boundary to put the first runs on the England scoreboard. He survives a loud leg before appeal in the next ball though.
Ishant has his man in his next over though, having him caught by Yuvraj for five.
It is a double failure for Cook. He is yet to fire in this series.
Since Jonathan Trott is injured, Ian Bell comes in to bat.

Tim Bresnan comes in to replace Anderson (26-8-80-2). And strikes second ball, having Dravid caught by Alastair Cook at third man.
The veteran's resistance finally ends. He made 117.
The new ball has done wonders for England.
Broad is unlucky once more though as Cook drops Ishant (0). But he gets his man at last, having Ishant caught brilliantly by Ian Bell at short leg.
India bowled out for 288, for an overall lead of 67.

Praveen Kumar has come out to bat. And is cleaned up first ball. Broad has helped himself to four wickets in the space of eight balls.

A boundary off Swann helps Yuvraj register his 10th Test fifty, his third against England.
A single by Dravid in the same over helps bring the 100-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
A boundary in Swann's next over helps Dravid reach his century, a well deserved one.
It is Dravid's 34th Test century, his sixth against England and his second in succession after his 103 not out in the Lord's Test.

At tea India has reached 215 for four (73 overs), just six runs adrift the English total.
Dravid is unbeaten on 83 and giving him company is Yuvraj on 43. Their stand is worth 76 runs.

Yuvraj is now a relieved man that a pacer has been taken off and spin has been introduced.
The left-hander is much comfortable against spin.
He is now proving to be a perfect foil for Dravid, the duo having put together a 50-plus partnership for the fifth wicket and taking their out of trouble, and close to the English total.
India have made 190 for four in 66 overs.

Kevin Pietersen puts down Yuvraj (on four then) at gully. Stuart Broad is unlucky yet again.
Bresnan was brought in to replace Broad (19-6-41-1) in the 56th over.
Its a double bowling change for England as Graeme Swann comes in to bowl in the next over, replacing Anderson (20-6-64-2).
Dravid and Yuvraj are doing well at the moment. India 162 for four after 57 overs.

And he settles down early with a boundary each off Broad and Anderson.
Trott, while trying to stop a boundary rolls over and seems to be in pain. The whole team gathers anticipating something serious. The doctor is summoned and Trott gets up with some pain.
Dravid reaches his 61st Test fifty with his 10th boundary (off Broad). It is his ninth fifty against England.
India have made 137 for three for 50 overs.

In the first over after resumption, Broad has Tendulkar caught by Strauss at first slip.
India 119 for three after 44 overs. Tendulkar made 16.

The top two run getters in Test cricket are now at the crease.
Tendulkar gets off the mark with the third ball he faced, a boundary off Trott. The shot also helped India get past the 100-run mark.
Anderson comes in to replace Trott (4-1-18-0) in the 39th over. He cannot ensure another breakthrough though.
India go into lunch at 117 for two (after 43 overs), having clearly dominated the opening session.

England finally get a breakthrough. Bresnan has Laxman caught behind.

It has been a quiet period since those flurry of boundaries early on. Just four runs from an equal number of overs.
Anderson to Laxman, and has the batsman nicked it. Asad Rauf remains unmoved. England think so. They have gone for a referral.
And the decision stands. The home team has now wasted both the referrals. There's an exchange of words between Pietersen and Laxman.
Tim Bresnan is introduced into the attack in the 25th over, in place of Anderson (4-1-14-0).
A boundary by Dravid in Broad's next over ensures India get past the 50-run mark, also the 50-plus partnership.

James Anderson bowls the second over and boundaries off the last two deliveries, by Laxman, ensure the first runs for India in the morning.
Dravid hits successive boundaries at the start of Broad's next over. So it is four boundaries in four balls for India. Broad's fifth ball is a scorcher, beating the outside edge off the batsman's blade.
It's a bright and sunny day and should the batsman not make mistakes, England are in for a long haul.
India has made 44 for one after 20 overs.
