Live scorecard:

West Indies have dominated the opening day of the third Test.

At stumps, the visitors have made 267 for two, with Kirk Edwards on 65 and Darren on 57 not out, the duo having put on 117 runs for the third wicket.

R Ashwin was the pick of the Indian bowlers with figures of two for 86 in what was otherwise a vapid display by the home bowlers.

In the final analysis, Darren Sammy's decision to bat first had been vindicated by his batsmen.

Live scorecard:

Rahul Dravid has dropped a second one at first slip. Darren Bravo, on 33, is the beneficiary. Ojha is the bowler suffering from Dravid's blemish on this occasion.

The new ball is taken after 84.3 overs, with West Indies at 245 for two.

Bravo carries on his good form, completing his sixth Test fifty with a boundary off Ishant. It is his third half-century against India and a perfect follow-up to his 136 in the second innings at Eden Gardens.

The young batsman, along with Erdwards, have also put on a 100-plus partnership for the third wicket.

West Indies 254 for two with three overs in the day left to be played.

Live scorecard:

Darren Bravo and Kirk Edwards have put on an effective partnership for the third wicket.

The latter has registered his third half century, his second against India after his 60 at Eden Gardens.

West Indies 227 for two.

Live scorecard:

The loss of the two openers in quick succession has predictably pegged back the visitors.

Meanwhile, the turnout in Wankhede is as bad as Eden, if not worse. Even the pricing of tickets for less than a dollar didn't work.

In fact, as I was coming to the venue this morning a school kid asked, "What match is being played?" Considering cricket is a religion in this country, the question was a bit surprising, I must admit.

West Indies 166 for two.

Live scorecard:

India has managed a good fightback in the second session, courtesty Ashwin's twin strikes.

At tea, West Indies has made 161 for two (61 overs). Kirk Edwards is unbeaten on 13 and Darren Bravo is four not out.

Ashwin has been the pick of Indian bowlers with figures of two for 64.
14:05
Live scorecard:

Kirk Edwards has come in to replace Barath.

Ashwin, however, ensures India a second wicket by having Kraigg Brathwaite (68) caught by Kohli at short leg.

Brathwaite's 184-ball knock was inclusive of eight hits to the fence.

Darren Bravo comes out to bat. India have now got rid of both the openers and sense an opening here.

West Indies reduced to 150 for two.
13:44
Live scorecard:

Kraigg brathwaite gets a reprieve at 54, when Laxman puts him down at short-leg, Ashwin being the unlucky bowler.

The following delivery the batsman survives a loud leg before appeal, replays clearly indicating the ball had hit outside off.

However, Ashwin eventually provides India the breakthrough when he has Barath caught by his captain.

Barath's 148-ball 62 was inclusive of eight hits to the fence and he put on 137 for the opening wicket with Brathwaite (61 not out).

Live scorecard:

A single off Ojha helps Adrian Barath complete his fourth Test fifty.

It is the 21-year-old's second half century against India and second in succession, following his 62 in the second innings at Eden Gardens.

West Indies 110 without loss.
13:02
Live scorecard:

Kraigg Braithwaite has completed his third Test fifty with a boundary off Ojha.

It is the opener's second half century against India following his 63 in the first innings of the opening Test at Kotla.

West Indies 104 without loss after 43 overs.
12:53
Live scorecard:

India has still not found a breakthrough.

West Indies reach the 100-run mark in the 41st over.

11:32
Live scorecard:

The West Indies openers have vindicated their captain's decision to bat first. The visitors go into lunch comfortably placed at 80 for no loss (after 30 overs).

Adrian Barath is unbeaten on 37 and his opening partner Kraigg Brathwaite on 35.

The scoring rate has been low but the big positive for West Indies is they haven't lost a wicket in the opening session, rather the Indian bowlers have struggled to make the breakthrough.

Live scorecard:

West Indies reach the 50-run mark in the 18th over, courtsey a Barath boundary (off Ishant). They have made slow progress this morning.

On a positive note though they are yet to lose a wicket.

R Ashwin replaces Pragyan Ojha (5-2-8-0) in the attack in the 19th over. Brathwaite welcomes the spinner by smashing his second ball over midwicket for a boundary.

It is spin from both ends now as Ojha replaces Ishant (7-1-19-0). However, the move fails to produce the desired results.

The visitors have made 79 without loss.
10:33
Live scorecard:

The ball has been changed after 4.4 overs.

With the quicks failing to provide an early breakthrough, Dhoni hands the ball over to a spinner.

Pragyan Ojha comes out to bowl in the ninth over, replacing Ishant (4-1-12-0). He concedes three runs in his first over.

West Indies 36 without loss.
09:51
Live scorecard:

West Indies have got off to a steady start. The first two overs saw the visitors score seven runs, with Barath doing all the scoring, including a bounadry in debutant Aaron's second ball.

Brathwaite, the other opener, got his first run in the third over of the day. He got his first boundary in the last ball of the same over.

West Indies 14 without loss.

There are two changes to the Indian line-up that won at Eden Gardens.

Virat Kohli comes in place of Yuvraj Singh. So no Test debut for Rohit Sharma. And Varun Aaron has been handed a Test debut, in place of Umesh Yadav.

There's some bad news for West Indies though. Shivnarine Chanderpaul has failed to recover and is not playing. Kieron Powell comes into the side in place of the veteran.

Teams:

India:

MS Dhoni (captain), Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Virat Kohli, R Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, Pragyan Ojha, Varun Aaron.

West Indies:

Darren Sammy (captain). Adrian Barath, Kraigg Brathwaite, Kieron Edwards, Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Powell, Marlon Samuels, Carlton Baugh, Fidel Edwards, Devendra Bishoo, Ravi Rampaul.
09:08
West Indies has won the toss and elected to bat first.

"The wicket looks good," reasoned captain Darren Sammy. His Indian counterpart, MS Dhoni, concurred with the decision.

"Yes, we would have batted first as well," he admitted.

India has already won the series and will be trying to inflict a first ever whitewash on the West Indies.
