Trinidad stun Chennai by 12 runs

Trinidad and Tobago played an exceptional match to beat Chennai Super Kings by 12 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

 

Chasing a modest 124 for victory, Chennai finished with 111-6 from 20 overs.

 

Chennai innings never got going and Sunil Narine was the cheif architect of T&T victory with figues of 4-0-8-3.

Sunil Narine is back for his final over and he strikes gold for Trinidad and Tobago removing dangerous MS Dhoni.

 

Dhoni hits a quicker ball from Narine straight to him, thereby ending his struggle of seven runs off 22 balls.

 

Chennai were 76-6 at the end of 17 overs requiring another 48 runs from 18 balls.

Chennai are committing harakiri in here as now Badrinath is on his way back to the pavillion after being run out by Darren Ganga for 15.

 

Dhoni pushes the ball towards cover point and cries out NO loudly, but Badri is half-way down the track.

 

Ganga just lobs the ball back to the bowler who is quick to whip the bails off with the batsman well short.

Wriddhiman Saha was on his way back to the pavillion after he was adjudged leg-before-wicket by Billy Bowden off Kevon Cooper.

 

Saha tried to clip one through the leg side missing the ball alltogether and Bowden is quick to raise the finger. Replays show that the ball would have clipped the leg stump.

 

Chennai were 50-4 after 11 overs.

Now it's Mike Hussey's turn to walk back after edging one to Denesh Ramdin off Ravi Rampaul.

 

Hussey was back in the hut for 13.

 

The match is well and truely alive now and is going just the same way the first game had gone. Wriddhiman Saha walks in now.

Sunil Narine is haveing a ball as he now sends Suresh Raina back for just two runs to his name.

 

A wonderfully tossed up delivery, Raina closed the phase of the bat early and gave a simple catch back to the bowler.

 

Chennai were 26-2 after five overs.

Sunil Narine provides the breakthrough for Trinidad and Tobago as he had Murali Vijay castled for just six runs to his name.

 

Vijay went for a wild swing, missed the ball completely and the ball crashed onto the stumps.

Trinidad and Tobago have manged to put up a decent 123-8 on board after their midddle-order collapse against the Chennai Super Kings.

 

T&T were off to a decent start, but could capitalise on it and lost their way in the middle. But the lower middle-order ensured that they play the entire set of overs.

 

For Chennai BOllinger was the most successful with 3-30 from his four overs.

After Perkins, now Lendl Simmons is on his way back to the pavillion -- due to an brilliant fielding from Saha.

 

Bravo, who had come in after Perkin's wicket, played one in the outfield and set out for a single. However, Saha was quick to pounce on the ball and throw it back to Dhoni who removed the bails in a flash.

 

Earlier, Chennai managed to get a wicket, after Perkins hit one straight down S Badrinath's throat at point.

 

Perkins who had hit two massive sixes tried to slog one through the off side but eventually ended up slicing it to point.

Trinidad and Tobago are off to a steady start as Lendl Simmons smashes one down the ground -- doesn't time it -- a single.

 

Perkins meanwhile, takes a single towards third man. It's a slow pitch so the batsmen are finding it hard to time the ball.

 

Good thing is that T&T have been rotating the strike. At the end of five overs T&T were on 24-0.

They play on the same pitch that NSW and Mumbai played on. T&T have made one change to their side with William Perkins coming in place of Jason Mohammad.

In the end it was too easy for NSW as Ben Rohrer and Steve Smith played sensibly to lead the team to an impressive five-wicket win over Mumbai Indians.

 

New South Wales who were reeling at 28-5 at one moment, were more than happy to take single in initially before opening up in the latter half.

 

Steven Smith and Ben Rohrer put on an unbeaten 73-run stand to see the Australian side through.

 

Smith finished the game with a brilliant inside-out shot over covers to seal the win with three overs to spare.

New South Wales have kind of steadied the ship courtesy some sensible batting from Steven Smith and Ben Rohrer.

 

The duo have put on 38-runs for the sixth wicket so far and have looked more than happy to take singles and couple at the moment.

 

Mumbai bolwers have kept it tight but they are now feeling the pinch of a low score.

 

At the end of 13 overs, NSW were 66-5 with another 35 runs required of 42 balls.

Malinga picks up with wicket this time with superb yorker as the left-hander missed the ball completely. A loud shout and umpire had little hesitation in raising the finger.

IT was not a good day for the IPL giants as they struggled against the pace and the slowness of the track.

Symonds has been woefully out of form throughout and never looked comfortable in the middle.

Mumbai's hero in the last match Keiron Pollard is now walking back after playing an aweful shot.

 

Pat Cummins, who was brough in to test Pollard did his job perfectly as bamboozled the stumps with a straight delivery. Pollard went in for a big heave, missed the ball and stumps were shatter on the ground.

 

Big loss for Mumbai as they were 28-4 after six overs.

After Blizzard, Sarul Kanwar too was walking on his way back to the hut, after scooping a full-toss straight to backward point off Mitchell Starc.

 

Kanwar, who had blazed the first boundary earlier in the over was guilty of going in for the short too early.

 

In the next over, Stuart Clark had Ambati Raydu caught in the slips by Shane Watson for just 2.

 

Kieron Pollard comes out to the middle and he makes his intention pretty clear with a boundary through the covers for his first boundary.

 

James Franklin on the otherhand made full use of a short delivery for his first boundary.

At the end of three overs, Mumbai Indians were 18-3.

Adrian Blizzard and Kanwar are in the middle as Stuart Clark has the ball in the hand.

 

Blizzard gets off the mark with a single towards square-leg with a single. Kanwar too off the mark with a single.

 

Stuart Clark is included in place of Nathan Hauritz -- may be a bit of experience top of the order.

 

And as we speak, Blizzard has chopped one on back onto his stumps. Blizzard went for a pull, but the slow nature of the surface meant that the left-hander couldn't get the timing on the ball.

 

Mumbai Indians were 3-1 after the first over.
