England crush India in one-off T20

England finally managed to register their first win in the series after they beat India by six wickets in the one-off Twenty20  at the Eden Gardens on Saturday.

 

After restricting India to a meagre 120-9, England knocked off the runs with six balls to spare.

 

Kevin Pietersen led England's charege with a brilliant 39-ball 53 and he was ably supported by Samit Patel.

 

For India Ravindra Jadeja was the standout performer with figuers of 4-19-1.

While the slow bowlers were doing a good job, it was Kevin Pietersen who broke the shackles to power England's innings.

 

It was Yusuf Pathan's third over that probably swung the momentum in England's favour.

 

Pietersen smashed a massive six and then a boundary before Samit Patel had hit a boundary earlier in the over.

 

Then in Praveen Kumar's over, KP hit back to back boundaries to bring the required run-rate down considerbly.

 

At the end of 11 overs England were 80-2. Pietersen is on 36, along with Samit Patel who is on 15.

Ravindra Jadeja provides the inital breakthrough for India as he removes dangerous Craig Kieswetter for 12.

 

Kieswetter charges down the track but couldn't get to the pitch of the ball -- in the end slicing it up in the air where Manoj Tiwary takes a neat catch.

 

At the end of four overs England were 22-1.

India have managed to post 120-9 in the one-off Twenty20 match against England at the Eden Gardens.

 

Indians struggled on a slow track, and theyt strruggled with their timing once the ball got old.

 

None of the Indian batsmen really got going expect for Suresh Raina, who was the top-scorer with 39. Dhoni was the next best with 21, while Ashwin hit some lusty blows in the end ensure India cross the 100-run mark.

 

For England, Steven Finn and Tim Bresnan were outstanding upfront, alongwith Ravi Bopara who picked up seven wickets between them.

Steve Finn comesback into the attack as Raina clips one off his legs for a boundary.

Five balls later, Finn offers a short wide delivery and Raina hits it straight to Bairstow at point.

 

Next up Finn castled Ravindra Jadeja courtesy an inside edge. Finn is on a hattrick.

 

India at the end of 13 overs were 81-6.

Indians are struggling on a slow pitch as they lose Manoj Tiwary who was cleaned bowled by Samit Patel.

 

Tiwary was struggling for timing went down on one knee to go for a huge slog. But he missed the ball comepletely as the ball crashed onto his off stump.

 

India were reeling at 66-4 after 11 overs.

It was time for India's Mr. Consistent Virat Kohli to leave after he was brilliantly caught in the deep by Hales.

 

Kohli had latched on to a short, slower ball and pulled it high over deep midwicket, but Hales was too quick for his case.

 

Kohli was back in the hut for 15. Raina at the other end clears his front foot smash it over bowler's head for a much-needed boundary.

 

India were 34-3 after 6.2 overs.

Robin Uthappa and Ajinkya Rahane will open the proceedings for India, while the Steven Finn will open with the new ball.

 

Robbie is off the mark straightaway with a single to third man.

 

Rahane tries to smash a short of a lenght delivery -- misses. no harm done.

 

Next up Rahane again goes for a booming drive gets an outside edge, Kieswetter takes a stunner. Rahane didn't even trouble the scorers.

 

Next over it was Tim Bresnan's turn to send Robin Uthappa back to the pavillion after Robbie edged one to Kieswetter.

 

India 5-2 after 1.3 overs.

India have won the toss and have elected to bat first in the one-off Twenty20 match against England.

 

India will look to round off the series with a win, after they whitewashed the visitors.

 

Team news is Robin Uthappa gets an international game for the first time since 2008 along with Yusuf Pathan.

 

England on the other hand have brought in Alex Hales.
