IPL update: Finch helps Delhi off to a flier at Eden

Virender Sehwag and Aaron Finch open the batting for Delhi and Brett Lee is entrusted with the responsibility of opening the bowling for Kolkata. 

Five runs come off the first over. Marchant de Lange to share the new ball. He gives away 11 runs, with Finch helping himself to successive boundaries. 

Finch's third boundary comes in Lee's second over. The fourth comes in the next ball.

Delhi 26 without loss after three overs.

Umesh Yadav bowls a spectacular penultimate overs, giving away only three runs and taking the vital wicket of Shukla. 

Van der Merwe to bowl the last over. He strikes second ball, having Bhatia (7) stumped. 

Brett Lee (9) smashes the fourth ball for a maximum over long off. The Australian is run out in the last ball. 

Delhi have restricted Kolkata to 97 for nine in their stipulated 12 overs.

Laxmi Ratan Shukla and Rajat Bhatia are doing a good job of rebuilding the side. 

The two have put on 30-plus runs, with Shukla being the aggressor. 

However, Yadav has Shukla (26) caught by Yogesh Nagar.

Umesh Yadav bowls the fourth over. He strikes with his last ball, having Yusuf Pathan (0) caught behind. 

It's a great start for Delhi this. It would have been even better if Yadav hadn't dropped Debabrata Das off Maxwell. 

Das makes Delhi pay for the blemish, smashing a couple of sixes. But just as things looked to settle down for Kolkata, Morkel rattles Gambhir's (16) stumps to pick up his third wicket.

A ball later, Das (18) is run out to increase the home team's cup of woes.

Morne Morkel bowls the third over. He strikes fourth ball with a wonderful yorker, getting rid of his countryman Jacques Kallis (4). 

Morkel strikes again, cleaning up Manoj Tiwary (0) first ball.

Brendon McCullum and Jacques Kallis open the batting for the home team while it is Irfan Pathan starting the proceedings for Delhi. 

McCullum starts by smashing the second ball over square leg for the first boundary of the innings. Kallis joins the party by getting his first boundary in the sixth ball of the same over. 

Roelef van der Merwe shares the new ball. Hs strikes fourth ball, having McCullum (9) out leg before. 

Kolkata 15 for one after two over

Delhi Daredevils won the toss and invited Kolkata Knight Riders to bat first in the second match of IPL V at the Eden Gardens on Thursday. 

"We are going to bowl first because it is a shorter game," reasoned Virender Sehwag, the Delhi captain. 

"We need to restrict them for under eight runs per over," he added. 

"We need to put some runs on the board and then we have got the bowlers," said Gautam Gambhir, his opposite number.

A drizzle has delayed the toss at the second match of IPL V between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils in Eden Gardens.
