The opening wicket partnership is now worth more than 100 runs. It is the best opening partnership of this IPL.

Three successive boundaries in Bhuvneshwar Kumar's third over, the 15th of the innings, helps Badrinath reach his half century.

However, Pune finally get a breakthrough when Fa Du Plessis' (58) skies a Samuels' delivery and Mathews makes no mistake at deep square leg.

The South African's 48-ball innings was inclusive of four boundaries and a couple of sixes and put on 116 with Badrinath (57) for the opening wicket. The same bowler-fielder combine two balls later, to send Badri back.

What a dominating performance by Pietersen with the bat. He was dropped thrice and he made Deccan pay big time for their lapses on the field.

Pietersen finished unbeaten on a blazing knock of 103 from 64 balls as Delhi won by five wickets with five balls remaining.

Delhi continue their fine start to the tournament to lead the IPL table with four wins from five matches.

Pietersen needs three for a century, while Delhi need two for a win. Pietersen is on 97 from 63 balls, while Nagar has hit 23 from 15 balls.

Pietersen ends the match in style.

He smashes it back over the bowler for a four to complete his century and take Delhi to a victory.

Delhi 156-5 (19 ovs) vs Deccan 157-8

Steyn comes to bowl his final over but the match has already slipped away from Deccan's grasp. Perhaps Sangakkara kept him waiting for too long.

Nagar his the first ball through covers for two runs and then takes a single from the next ball.

Pietersen is back on strike. He needs five runs to complete his century, while Delhi also need five for victory.

But he pulls the next ball to midwicket for a single to move to 96. And the last ball of that over, he gets another single to move to 97.

Delhi 150-5 (18 ovs) vs Deccan 157-8

Christian comes to bowl his final over.

Pietersen is firing on all cylinders. He takes on Christian as he lofts a full ball down the ground and it goes over the long-off fielder for a SIX!!! his eight.

Duminy was way inside the ropes that time and the ball flew over his head. Maybe if he had stayed back on the ropes he could have taken it easily.

Nagar also joins in the party as he pulls the next ball from Christian through square leg for a boundary.

Pietersen gets another lifeline, his third drop of the innings as Sangakkara drops a difficult chance at covers.

14 runs from Christian's final over as Deccan reach 150 for five in 18 overs, now needing eight from two overs for victory.

- Scorecard: Delhi vs Deccan

Delhi 136-5 (17 ovs) vs Deccan 157-8

Delhi need 37 from four overs for victory.

Veer Pratap Singh has come on to bowl at a crucial time. Pietersen is at his dominating best as he smashes a short ball from Singh over the cover fence for a SIX!!! his seventh of the innings.

The match is slipping away from Deccan's grasp. The next ball is full and Pietersen drives it down the ground for a single.

Nagar continues the flow of boundaries as he cuts it over the point fielder for a four as once again the bowler drops it short. He follows up with a yorker as Nagar can hit it to long-off for a single.

Pietersen takes a single and Nagar hits it to the covers for two runs as 15 runs come from that over.

Another record for Pietersen as Rajneesh Gupta points out on Twitter: "A match of milestones for Pietersen- hits his 200th four in T20s, reaches 2000-run mark & makes his highest score in T20s!"

Delhi 115-5 (15 ovs) vs Deccan 157-8

Pietersen's attack is making the difference here. Delhi now need 45 runs from six overs for victory.

Deccan are desperate for a wicket now, and they will do well with Pietersen's wicket. They bring back their best bowler Steyn back into the attack.

And he delivers with the wicket of Pathan. The left-hander tries to pull a short ball from Steyn but it is too quick for him and he gloves it to the keeper for five.

Quite unnecessary shot that from Pathan!

A brilliant over from Steyn as he concedes just two runs while taking a wicket to give his team some hope. 43 runs needed from five over for victory.

Delhi 113-4 (14 ovs) vs Deccan 157-8

Pietersen has been dropped twice in the innings and it has proved so costly for Deccan Chargers.

Amit Mishra is back to bowl his second over after being taken apart by Pietersen in his first over. Pietersen defends the first ball and plays the next ball to short thirdman fielder for a single.

There is no stopping Pietersen at the moment! He continues to attack Mishra as he dances down the wicket and lofts him down the ground for another huge SIX!!! his sixth of the innings.

- Scorecard: Delhi vs Deccan

Delhi 104-4 (13 ovs) vs Deccan 157-8

Delhi need 75 runs from the last eight overs for victory.

Pietersen takes a single from the first ball of Duminy's new over to complete his fifty from 42 balls.

Duminy then gifts him a full toss which Pietersen sends into the stands at long-on for a SIX!!! Duminy has not learnt anything from the previous mistake. He bowls another full toss which Pietersen despatches over the midwicket fence for another SIX!!!

He makes it a hat-trick of SIXES against Duminy as he lofts it back over the bowler for another maximum.

Pietersen is put down off the next ball. He smashes a full toss straight back but Duminy fails to hold on to a difficult catch as umpire Billy Bowden ducks for cover.

That over has changed the course of the match with 21 runs coming from it. Pietersen has raced to 69 from 46 balls as Delhi have reached 104 for four in 13 overs.

Christian is back into the attack and he replaces Mishra, who was smashed by Pietersen for 17 runs. Two singles from the first three balls before Delhi lost a big wicket in the form of Ross Taylor, who is run out for 13.

Pietersen hit it to the covers and the two batsmen set off for a quick single, but Dhawan's direct hit from the covers caught Taylor short of his crease.

Christian bowls a bouncer first up to Irfan Pathan but it sails over his head and is called a wide. Pietersen continues his attacking batting as he smashes it through the covers for yet another boundary to move to 40 from 34 balls.

At the halfway stage, Delhi are 71 for four, needing another 87 runs in ten overs for victory.

- Scorecard: Delhi vs Deccan

Delhi 63-3 (9 ovs) vs Deccan 157-8

Duminy is off after just one over and he is replaced by left-arm spinner Ankeet Sharma. This is interesting -- a left-arm spinner bowling to Pietersen, who has a definite problem against this breed of slow bowlers.

Pietersen was dropped on six, but now he has raced to 34 from 26 balls, with the help of four fours and two sixes.

Taylor gets three runs from the first ball as VP Singh misfields at deep midwicket. Pietersen is looking to force some shots against the left-arm spinner Sharma but so far he is not getting anything here. Four dot balls before he takes a single from the last ball of that over.

- Scorecard: Delhi vs Deccan

Delhi 59-3 (8 ovs) vs Deccan 157-8

It's spin from both ends as Amit Mishra comes into the attack. Pietersen is beaten off the first ball as the leg-spinner gets it to turn a bit. But Pietersen smashes the next ball, a bit short in the length, through the covers for a boundary. He then chips down the wickets and lofts it high over the stands at long-on for a huge SIX!!!

KP is on fire at the moment. Mishra yet again drops it short and Pietersen thumps it over the cover region again for yet another SIX!!!

A horror start for Mishra with the ball as he gives away 17 runs in his first over.

After an indifferent start, Pietersen has put Delhi back on track with that assault on Mishra.

Australian Dan Christian is in the attack now after two good overs from debutant VP Singh, who took one for nine in two overs.

And Christian also strikes in his first over. Jayawardene tries to muscle it over the off-side but holes out a simple catch to compatriot Sangakkara in the covers for six.

But Delhi have no need to worry as yet. New Zealand captain Ross Taylor walks out to bat.

Pietersen smashes a short ball through the covers as Chipli misfields to gift an easy boundary.

Delhi 20-2 (4 ovs) vs Deccan 157-8

Pietersen gets a lifeline!! Pietersen pulls a short ball from Steyn but Chipli at short midwicket puts down an easy catch. The Deccan fielders are looking around in disbelief. Chipli didn't have time to react but it was straight to him and he should have snapped it.

But Steyn gets the wicket he deserved. Sehwag opens the face of the bat and guides it straight into the hands of Christian at first slip to fall for seven.

Delhi have enough quality in their line-up though as out walks Mahela Jayawardene to join Pietersen in the middle.

The Sri Lankan captain is off the mark in some style. He chips a full delivery from Steyn over midwicket for a boundary. The next ball is played on the up but it goes to the thirdman region for one.

But it is the young pacer Singh, who delivers the first blow for Deccan. Ojha holes out in the covers to be caught for one as Singh gets his first wicket in the IPL.

Dhawan steers the next ball to the thirdman fielder for another single. The next ball stays a bit low as Parthiv misses it but he throws his bat at the next delivery, which is a bit wide and it flies off the thick edge for a four.

Pathan then drops the next ball short and Patel has enough time to go on the backfoot and pull it to the square leg region for a four. He chips the next ball over the point fielder to make it three fours in that over.

14 runs from that over from Pathan as he struggled with his line and length.

Sehwag ringing in the changes. Morne Morkel to bowl the third over and he strikes in his very first over.

Sangakkara gets a leading edge as he looks to play it on the leg side. The ball goes high in the air but Yogesh Nagar keeps his eye on the ball to complete a neat catch and send back Sangakkara for one.

Dhawan is beaten twice outside the off-stump as he looks to cut Morkel but misses the ball both times. The left-hander then plays the next ball on the leg side for one and new batsman Parthiv Patel drops it on the off-side for one.

Deccan 9-0 (2 ovs) vs Delhi

Delhi spring a surprise by getting part-time off-spinner Kevin Pietersen to bowl the second over. Dhawan hits the first ball straight to point and is beaten off the next ball as he looks to cut. He steps down the wicket to the next ball but yet again it goes straight to the fielder at cover.

Pietersen drops it short and Dhawan is quick to rock on the backfoot and pull it past the square leg fielder for a boundary. He charges down the wicket off the next ball but gets an inside edge that beats the keeper to get him three runs.

Sangakkara hits the last ball of that over to the mid-on fielder as Pietersen concedes just seven in his first over.
