Mumbai 101-5 (18.1 ovs) vs Deccan 100 all out

MUMBAI BEAT DECCAN BY 5 WICKETS

Reddy starts with a wide and Rayudu hits the next ball through the covers to get three runs and take Mumbai to victory.

Rayudu kept his composure in the closing stages with an unbeaten 19 from 15 balls to take his team to victory.

But Mumbai's batting disappointed yet again. Against the likes of Steyn on a difficult wicket, they played some poor shots to throw their wickets away.

Rohit top scored with 42 from 48 balls but even he was guilty of throwing his wicket away at the wrong time.

The only positive for Mumbai was the performance from their bowlers. Malinga was the star with the ball as he took four for 16 to set up Mumbai's victory.

Mumbai 97-5 (18 ovs) vs Deccan 100 all out

Mishra to bowl the 18th over. He starts with a full ball that Rayudu drives through the covers and it looks to be heading for a certain boundary before a full length dive from JP Duminy stops it inches from the ropes. Super stuff from Duminy to save two runs for his team.

Rayudu then makes most of a full toss from Mishra which he hits through midwicket for a four. All the pressure built by Deccan has been released in the first two balls of this over.

Rayudu hammers the final nail in Deccan's coffin as he cuts a short ball past the point fielder for another boundary, the second of the over.

Mishra concedes 16 runs in that over to all but end his team's hopes.

Mumbai now need four from the last two overs for victory.

Is there still some life left in the match? Reddy gets the wicket of Franklin with the first ball of his second over. Franklin tries to pull a short ball but can only edge it to wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel for 13.

Robin Peterson walks out to bat ahead of captain Harbhajan Singh. He plays two dot balls before getting off the mark from the third ball with a single to the fine leg region.

Rayudu takes a single from the next ball. Mumbai nearly lose another wicket from the final ball of that over. Peterson is beaten all ends up by a slower ball from Reddy and is lucky that he didn't edge it.

Two runs from that over and Mumbai now need 18 from as many balls.

Mishra takes over from the Media Centre end. Rayudu plays the first ball down the ground for one and Franklin does the same off the next ball. It is only singles at the moment as Rayudu and Franklin take a single each for four runs in Mishra's third over.

Mumbai 77-4 (15 ovs) vs Deccan 100 all out

That was poor thinking from Rohit to throw his wicket away when the need of the hour was to stay out in the middle and take his team to victory.

Christian is back in the attack and he starts with a bouncer to Franklin, who lets it go. He takes a single from the next ball and Rayudu cannnot get the next four balls for runs before taking a single from the last ball of that over.

Just two runs from Christian's third over and Mumbai now need 24 from five overs for victory.

Steyn back to bowl his final over. Mumbai need 38 from 48 balls and they can easily afford to play out Steyn's over. The next six balls will be crucial for Deccan.

Franklin steers the third ball to thirdman region for one and Sharma gets a single off the next ball.

Mishra then drops the easiest of chances at thirdman as Franklin hits one straight to him but he fails to catch it. Steyn is disappointed but he ends with two for 10 in four overs.

Mumbai 47-3 (9 ovs) vs Deccan 100 all out

Steyn is back into the attack now and this could be the final throw of the dice as far as Deccan are concerned.

Rohit edges the first ball but it falls short of the first slip fielder. JP Duminy makes a good stop at point but the batsmen run across for a quick single.

But Steyn gets the wicket as Karthik is caught behind for two and once again it is the outswinger that does the trick.

It looks a completely different pitch when Steyn is bowling as compared to the other bowlers. If Deccan can get another bowler to bowl a good spell from the other end, Mumbai will find it hard to get the runs.

Deccan have a very attacking field for Steyn, with a slip, gully, shot leg in place.

Three runs from Steyn's third over as Mumbai reach 47 for three in nine overs.

Mumbai 44-2 (8 ovs) vs Deccan 100 all out

Veer Pratap Singh will bowl out here. He took the big wicket of Tendulkar in his previous over and White is keen to continue him.

Rohit has had enough of it now. He breaks the shackles as he pulls VP Singh high over the midwicket fence for a huge SIX!!! That must have taken some pressure off Mumbai.

Rohit then plays another foul shot as the inside edge yet again pass closes to the stumps. He is living dangerously out in the middle.

Christian starts his second over with a wide down the leg side before Rohit takes a single down the ground. Dinesh Karthik defends the third ball before taking a single himself in the covers.

The pacers are still extracting a lot from the wicket as Christian proves it by beating Rohit off successive deliveries outside the off-stumps. He throws his bat at the next ball for a single to the thirdman region.

The ball is moving quite a bit for the seamers. Tendulkar takes a single from VP Singh's first ball and Rohit nearly drags it back to his stumps as he inside edges an incoming delivery.

He gets a thick outside edge as he tries to drive the next ball for a single.

Tendulkar then pulls a short ball but does not get enough power and scampers across for two runs to deep square leg.

However, the young pacer strikes with the big wicket of Tendulkar, who edges it to first slip after scoring 14.

That wicket will surely give Deccan some hope.

Mumbai 27-1 (5 ovs) vs Deccan 100 all out

Mumbai can breathe a sigh of relief now. Steyn is off the attack after two super overs and he gives way to Daniel Christian.

Tendulkar clips him fine on the leg side past the short fine leg fielder to get two runs. He then slaps a full ball past the mid-off fielder for a boundary to send the crowd into raptures.

Except for Steyn, the other bowlers for Deccan Chargers have looked ordinary so far. Christian concedes eight in his first over as Mumbai reach 27 for one after five overs.

Finally, the contest everyone was waiting for -- Tendulkar vs Steyn.

Steyn starts with a full outswinger which Tendulkar looks to play on the leg side and it flies off the outside edge for a single to thirdman.

Rohit continues to play and miss outside the off-stump and now Tendulkar walks up to him to have a chat.

Rohit now uses his head as he offers no stroke to the next two balls from Steyn as it continues to move away from the batsmen.

Steyn is on fire at the moment. He has wonderful figures of one for three in two overs.

Mumbai 7-1 (2 ovs) vs Deccan 100 all out

Veer Pratap Singh has the ball from the other end and he is up against the master...Sachin Tendulkar.

The first ball is pitched up outside the off-stump and Tendulkar lets it go to the wicketkeeper. The second ball is way down the leg side as Parthiv dives full length to his left to stop it.

Tendulkar lets the next ball go as VP Singh gets his line and length right again. But he errs with the next ball as he pitches it on Tendulkar's pads, who whips it through midwicket for three runs.

Rohit drives the next ball to the covers and the next ball straight to midwicket.

He looks to loft the next ball over the off-side and manages to just clear White at covers, who could have taken that catch with a better timed jump.

Mumbai 1-1 (1 over) vs Deccan 100 all out

A poor batting performance by Deccan Chargers as they threw away their wickets rather tamely. Captain Kumar Sangakkara was sorely missed and his replacement Dan Christian or for that any other batsman failed to inspire confidence.

Richard Levi and Sachin Tendulkar out to open the batting for Mumbai. Dale Steyn has the new ball and only he can work some magic for Deccan.

Steyn strikes with the very first ball of the innings. He shatters Levi's stumps with a fast outswinger as the Mumbai opener was beaten all ends up. A perfect start for Steyn and Deccan!

Don't leave your seats yet. Steyn might still play a role in this match and if gets going, Deccan can fancy their chances here.

The next ball is a wide down the leg side and Rohit Sharma drives the next ball to covers.

Steyn shows his class as he beats Rohit twice with perfect outswingers. The Mumbai batsman was lucky not to have edge it. And Steyn does it again! Rohit has no answers to Steyn's superb bowling and a wicket looks round the corner.

Rohit has a flash at a wide delivery without any footwork and he misses the last ball too.

Mumbai Indians are seventh in the IPL standings with eight points from as many games. Deccan Chargers are still bottom with three points from seven games but must be high on confidence following their victory against Pune Warriors India in their last match, their first in this year's tournament.
