Skipper MS Dhoni is trying his best to stitch up a partnership as the duo have added 46 runs so far as India end the day's play with 307-5.

 

Boult was the star for New Zealand with the ball as he troubled the Indians with his inswingers.

 

Earlier, Indian openers gave India a steady start, before Boult struck. Sehwag looked good in his brief stay, but was guily of playing a false stroke.

 

Virat Kohli and teamed up with Pujara as they put on a 125-runs stand for the fourth wicket.

Another tame dismissal as Raina got a feather touch down the leg side, where keeper van Wyk took a neat little catch.

 

India were 262-5 after 73 overs. Pujara is on 102 along with Dhoni who had a lucky escape with a couple of runs.

Cheteshwar Pujara cracked up a superb century on his comeback to put India on top.

 

Pujara who came in at the fall of Gambhir's wicket, was cautious to start with, then opened up later on.

 

He was particularly severe on Boult, as he smashed three boundaries in one over itself.

 

Pujara then put on a crucial 125 runs stand with Virat Kohli for the fourth wicket.

 

Pujara reached the landmark with a single off James Franklin.

A poor shot from Kohli as he slashed hard a widish delivery from Martin and was snapped by Martin Guptill at second slip.

 

Kohli, Pujara put on a crucial 125 runs for the fourth wicket.

 

India were 250-4. Pujara is on 95.

Pujara who came after Gambhir's wicket, first stitched up a crucial partnership with Sachin Tendulkar and then alongwith Virat Kohli have put on an unbeaten 50 runs stand for the fourth wicket.

 

Pujara reached the landmark with a boundary off James Franklin. The 119 ball innings included six boundaries.

Pujara who came in after the fall of Gautam Gambhir took his time in the middle before opening up against spinner Jeetan Patel.

Trent Boult provides the much-needed breakthrough for New Zealand with a superb in-dipper, which goes right through the defence of Sachin Tendulkar.

 

Tendulkar who managed to just get a edge off the delivery before, couldn't bring the bat down as the ball crashed onto the middle stump.

 

Good news from Townsvilles, India have made it to the final of the U-19 World Cup as they beat New Zealand by 9 runs.

 

Meanwhile, here at Uppal, India were 125-3.

Sachin Tendulkar and Cheteshwar Pujara have steadied the ship for India with a decent partnership in the middle.

 

India, after winning the toss were off to a cautious start. But then lost two wickets.

 

Meanwhile at the Under-19 World Cup India is in command, with just two wickets away from securing a place in the final.

 

Chris Martin to Tendulkar as the ball is reversing now. A short and wide delivery from Martin, and Tendulkar is quick to latch onto it and smash it through point for a boundary.

 

At the end of 31 overs India were 116-2. Pujara is on 24, while Tendulkar is on 18.

The hosts have taken the first session of the Day 1 of the first Test here at Uppal as they have reached 97-2.

 

India, who won the toss and eleced to bat first got a decent start with Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir putting on 49 runs for the first wicket.

 

But Trent Boult managed removed the left-handed Gambhir for 22.

 

Sehwag then took over and counter punched Kiwis with a flurry of boundaries. Kiwis were also guilty of bowling on both sides of the wicket and missing the opportunities that came their way.

 

Dough Bracewell then removed Sehwag -- three runs short of his half-century.

 

Pujara and Tendulkar since then ensured that there was no further dent in Indian batting with an unbeaten 20 run stand for third wicket.

Sehwag who had been dropped twice, finally was caught in second slips by Martin Guptil.

 

A short of a length delivery from Bracewell forces Sehwag to go for a cut shot, which is too close to the body.

Virender Sehwag has been on fire since Gautam Gambhir's dismissal smashing boundaries at will.

 

Kiwis on their part have been guilty of some poor bowling and fielding. The pacers have bowled on both side of the stumps and Viru made the most of the lose deliveries.

 

Trent Boult and Chris Martin did try to contain the flow in the initial part, but once the bowl lost its shine its been a batsmens paradise.

Sehwag on the other hand, has been been dealing in singles.

 

For New Zealand Tent Boult has been impressive with his left-armers getting some pace and swing.

 

At the end of five overs India were 15-0. Gambhir is on 12, while Sehwag is on 3.

With VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid retired, it gives opportunities for players like Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli to fill in the big boots. The batting order is point of concern for Team India.

 

It's a dry wicket and pitch is nice easily rolled in so the team winning the toss shouldn't have any trouble in batting first.
