England 133-4 (65 ovs) vs India

Root off the mark in some style as he drives a full delivery from Chawla through the covers for three runs for his first runs in Test cricket. With five minutes to go for lunch, India will be looking to claim another wicket.

Root is looking as confident as any England batsman we have seen today. He flicks Ojha on the leg side for two before punching the next delivery square on the off-side for his first boundary in Tests.

While Bell struggled to one from 28 balls, Root has already got 10 from 11 balls.

England have reached 133 for four in 65 overs at the tea break on Day 1.
