Royal Challengers looked down and out with quick wickets but De Villiers took 23 runs off Dale Steyn and then stroked 19 runs off the Anand Rajan over to hand them a victory.
Dilshan contributed with a vital 71, while Mayank Agarwal too used the long handle to good effect.
Royal Challengers Bangalore are losing the plot here as Tillkaratne Dilshan now departs for 71.
