22:57   IPL updates: Chennai thrash Delhi by nine wickets
Scorecard:

A six over extra cover by Vijay off Aaron brings up the Chennai hundred in the 14th over. The second strategic timeout is taken after the over, with Chennai on 101 for one. 

Morkel back after the breather and Raina welcomes him with a six over cover. He is unlucky though when Rao drops Raina (on 24) in the over. 

the South African ends with figures of none for 31. 

Chennai reach their target in Aaron's next over. 

Vijay (48 not out) and Raina (28 not out) take the home side through, with  28 balls to spare, with their 40-run stand for the second wicket.

Chennai's nine wicket win keeps their hopes alive.
22:34   IPL updates: Irfan Pathan provides Delhi the breakthrough
Scorecard:

Irfan Pathan is handed the ball after the breather, replacing Yadav (2-0-18-0). He concedes seven runs with Vijay finding the midwicket fence. 

Van der Merwe gives away just five runs in his second over. Pathan strikes in his second over, having Hussey (38) caught by Jayawardene at point. 

However, Suresh Raina ends the over with a six.

Chennai 83 for one after 11 overs.

Umesh Yadav replaces Morkel (3-0-20-0) in the attack in the seventh over. 

Vijay hits the third ball over point for his third boundary, the strike helping raise the 50-run partnership for the first wicket. He hits the next ball over the square leg fence. 

Roelef van der Merwe into the attack in the eighth over, replacing Aaron (2-0-17-0). Hussey reverse sweeps the second ball for a boundary to fine leg. 

Chennai 63 without loss after eight overs. Time for the strategic timeout.

Varun Aaron comes in to bowl the fourth over and gives away 10 runs first up, Hussey taking seven of them. 

Morkel continues with his third over and Hussey continues his rampage with successive boundaries. The Australian has got into the groove now. 

He smashes the first ball of Aaron's second over for a maximum over the third man boundary.

Chennai 45 without loss after six overs.

Morne Morkel given the new ball. 

Mike Hussey and Murali Vijay to open the batting. Morkel gives away just two runs first ball. 

Umesh Yadav to share the new ball. He concedes eight runs, including a boundary to Vijay.

It's been a good bowling performance by Chennai. Morkel ends with figures of one for 15, his best of the tournament, while Bravo has also played his part. 

Hilfenhaus to bowl the penultimate over. Nagar despatches the fourth ball over extra-cover for a boundary, the shot helping Delhi get past the 100-run mark. Two balls later, he goes the distance even as Hilfenhaus ends with figures of three for 27. 

The Australian went for 13 in his final over, spoiling what was an otherwise exceptional spell. 

Bravo to bowl the final over. He gives away just seven runs to end with figures of none for 22.

Delhi Daredevils eventually manage 114 for five in their stipulated 20 overs, a below par score for sure. 

Yogesh Nagar remains unbeaten on 44.
21:08   IPL updates: Spinners put Chennai in control over Delhi

Rao breaks the shackles with a six over long-on in Jakati's third over. 
It is his second six of the innings and ensures 11 runs come off the over. 

Rao and Nagar have put on 48 runs for the fifth wicket. But just when it looked threatening. a spectacular catch by Morkel at short cover cuts short the innings of Rao (26), Ashwin being the bowler benefitting. 

Irfan Pathan comes out to bat. Ashwin in unlucky as Raina puts down Nagar (on 21) in his final over. He ends with figures of one for 17.

Delhi 84 for five after 16 overs. Time for second strategic timeout.
20:50   IPL updates: Delhi batsmen make slow progress in Chennai
Scorecard:

Dwayne Bravo replaces Hilfenhaus (3-0-14-3) in the attack in the seventh over. He gives away five runs. 

It's a twin bowling change for Chennai, Jakati coming in for Morkel (3-0-12-1) in the eighth over. 

Ravindra Jadeja bowls the ninth over and gives away 11 runs, including a six to Rao. 

It's a fourth bowling change in four overs for Chennai, R Ashwin coming in to bowl soon after the first strategic timeout. He concedes only four runs.

Delhi 56 for four after 11 overs.

Hilfenhaus gets to bowl a third straight over and responds by picking up his third wicket of the innings, having Naman Ojha (3) caught behind. 

The Australian's triple strike has crippled Delhi. 

Venugopal Rao comes out to join Jayawardene. However, the latter doesn't survive long, hitting a Morkel delivery straight to Mike Hussey at mid-on. 

Delhi tottering at 27 for four after six overs.

Scorecard:

Albie Morkel to bowl the second over. He gives away seven runs including a boundary to Warner. 

However, Hilfenhaus strikes again in his second over, having Warner (8) caught by R Ashwin at mid-off. 

Mahela Jayawardene comes out to join Naman Ojha at the crease. He begins with a boundary.

Delhi in a spot of bother at 18 for two after three overs.

Scorecard:

David Warner and Virender Sehwag open the batting for Delhi while it is Ben Hilfenhaus starts the proceedings for Chennai. 

Warner survives a lod leg before appeal second ball. However, Hilfenhaus strikes with his fifth ball, cleaning up Sehwag (4) with a beauty of a delivery.

Chennai Super Kings won the toss and invited Delhi Daredevils to bat first in their Indian Premier League match at the Chepauk on Saturday.

"It's a loose wicket but they have got enough time to prepare it. Not to forget, Delhi are good at chasing," reasons Dhoni.

A clinical Mumbai beat Kolkata by 27 runs. Riding hig on a great ton from Rohit Sharma, Mumbai restricted Kolkata to 155-4.

 

Jacques Kallis waged a lone battle for Kolkata as the hosts struggled on a slow pitch and some lovely bowling from Mumbai bowlers.

 

Pathan did use the long handle to good effect but failed to cross the final hurdle.

 

With the win, Mumbai have now jumped to third spot on the points table.

With six overs to go, it will be Pollard to continue as Pathan chips down the track, but the ball is wide of leg stump.

 

Pathan then picks up single to give strike back to Kallis. Pollard bowls a slower one as Kallis takes a single.

 

In the next over Kallis completed his half-century off Malinga off 45 balls to keep Kolkata in the hunt.

Kieron Pollard into the attack as Manoj Tiwary, gives him the charge and slogs it over midwicket for a boundary.

 

Tiwary follows it up with an inside edge for yet another boundary.

 

Pollard finally has the last laugh as he catches Tiwary in front of stumps. Unlucky as far as Tiwary is concerned as the ball would have gone down the leg side going by the angle.

Dwayne Smith now into the attack replacing Harbhajan Singh after the strategic time out as Manoj Tiwary chips one on the leg side for a single.

 

Kallis and Tiwary have steadied the ship somewhat, but Kolkata will require boundaries at regular intervals if they got to have any chance in the match.

 

Its been single all the way so far as KKR need 131 runs off 66 balls.

Ojha strikes off the next ball as he removes Manvinder Bisla for one. Bisla looking to attack the bowler gets the top-edge nad is caught in the deep my Munaf Patel.

Munaf Patel has the ball in his hand, as KKR openers Manvinder Bisla and Gautam Gambhir come out for a stiff chase.

 

Bisla is off the mark straight away.

 

Tough ask for Kolkata and as we speak, Munaf sends Gautam Gambhir back to the pavillion for nought.

 

A slower one from Munaf, beats Gambhir, who gives himself a bit of room, misses it as the ball crashes on the middle stump.

 

Good start this for Mumbai.

And as we speak, Rohit Sharma flicks one in between his legs for a boundary -- it's his day.

 

A yorker follows -- just for a single. Another single as this has been a good over despite the boundary early in the over.

 

A single off the final ball means Rohit Sharma equals the highest score of the IPL 5 and remained unbeaten on 109.

Brett Lee comes in now as Rohit welcomes him with a maximum -- super shot from the Mumbai batsman.

 

Lee follows it up with a short and wide delivery, Rohit has ample time to cream it between point and third man for a boundary.

 

Lee bowls a full toss and Rohit puts it in between fielders for yet another boundary. Its been a ROHIT SHOW today.

 

He then takes a single to complete a 52-ball 100 -- WOOWWW!! it's been a cracker of an innings.

Kallis is aggressive -- bowls a bouncer -- called WIDE!!

 

Kallis then goes to the pads as Rohit flicks one through square leg -- another boundary which brings his 50.

 

Three more runs from the over as Mumbai take 18 runs from the over.

Rohit Sharma is on the charge for Mumbai as he is playing attacking cricket right from the outset.

 

Rohit was severe Brett Lee tonking him for a six and a boundary off his second over.

 

Then in Shakib's third over picked up 14 runs to give Mumbai a good start.

Next up is a peach of a delivery from Shakib as the ball pitches and turns -- beating Tendulkar. Bisla is quick behind the stumps to take the bails off.

Gibbs then flicks one -- inside out shot for a couple to round off the over.

A ball later, Gibbs gives Lee the charge and lofts him over extra cover for the second boundary off the over.

 

Gibbs then repeats the stroke with another boundary. Talk about out of the game!! huh

Shakib al Hasan to open the bowling for Kolkata as Herschelle Gibbs to take the stike.

 

First up is a nice flighted delivery from the left-armer, Gibbs taps it on the off side for no run.

 

A length ball from Shakib as Gibbs shoulders it.

 

Next is the first appeal of the match as the ball thuds on the pads -- nothing doing form the over.

 

Gibbs is finally off the mark with a single off the last ball. Good start from Shakib.

Welcome the big match of the day between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians at the Eden Gardens.

 

The news from the middle is Mumbai have won the toss and have elected to bat first. Herschelle Gibbs comes in for Mumbai, which should be a boost to to the top order and so does Munaf Patel.

 

As far as Kolkata are concerned, Shakib and Bisla are back in KKR ranks.

Vinay Kumar strikes twice in his third over, removing Alfonso Thomas (7) and Rahul Sharma (0), both having their stumps shattered. 

Steve Smith remains unbeaten on 24 but can do little else other than watch his team suffer yet another humiliating defeat. 

Pune restricted to 138 for nine in their 20 overs. 

Bangalore win by 35 runs to move up to third in the table.
