Malinga takes a single from the first ball and Pollard misses a big shot off the next ball.

Pollard is then bowled and as he starts walking back he has to make his way back out to the middle as replays confirm Hilfenhaus has over stepped.

But Pollard cannot make most of the free hit and defends the yorker back to the bowler. He then takes a single to the thirdman region and Malinga hits Hilfenhaus back over his head for a four.

Mumbai now need 63 runs from three overs for victory.

Bravo to bowl his second over. Malinga defends the first two balls before getting a single leg bye off the next ball.

Bravo then bowls a yorker to Pollard who plays it to midwicket but refuses a single. And rightly so as he slams the next ball through the same region for a boundary.

Bravo ends the over with a good bouncer that Pollard fails to get away.

Mumbai now need 71 runs from four overs for victory.

Hilfenhaus back for his second spell after a horror time with the new ball. And he has something to cheer as he claims the wicket of Harbhajan.

Harbhajan tries to heave it on the leg side but gets a thick outside edge and is caught by Raina, running back at point for one.

Mumbai are nearly out of the contest, with 84 runs needed from 33 balls, with seven wickets in hand.

Pollard is also caught off the final ball of that over but substitute Wriddhiman Saha fails to control himself and tumbles over the ropes to give away six runs.

Mumbai need 87 runs from seven overs for victory. Can Pollard do a Dhoni and take Mumbai to an unlikely victory?

Dwayne Bravo into the attack now and even he gets a wicket in his first over. Franklin gets an inside edge as he looks to flick it on the leg side and is caught behind by keeper Dhoni for 13.

Harbhajan Singh is struck on the helmet first up as he takes his eyes off a bouncer and gets hit. He gets a lifeline off the next ball as he takes a quick single but the fielder at point fails to hit the stumps at the bowler's end.

Just two runs from that over as Mumbai 103 for six in 14 overs, needing 85 runs from six overs for victory.

Just four runs from that Morkel over as Mumbai keep slipping further.

Rayudu holes out to deep midwicket as he tries another big shot on the leg side to be dismissed for 11.

Mumbai are in complete tatters at the moment, having been reduced to 97 for five in 12 overs. They need  91 runs from eight overs for victory.

Morkel picks up a wicket yet again with the first ball of his over. Rohit advances down the wicket and tries a big shot but get an outside edge, which is caught by keeper Dhoni.

Rohit is out for 14 as Mumbai have been reduced to 77 for four after 10.1 overs.

New batsman Ambati Rayudu hits the first ball down the ground for a double and whips the next one through midwicket for a boundary.

Franklin ends the over in style as he pulls a short ball over the square leg fence for a six.

Mumbai get 13 runs from that over and now need 98 runs from nine overs for victory.

Ashwin comes back to bowl his second over. Rohit hits the first ball back to the bowler and then takes a single on the leg side.

Left-hander James Franklin is the new batsman. He defends the first ball before getting a single from the next. Rohit drives it down the ground as Ashwin makes a diving stop at mid-off to give away just one.

A good start from Morkel as he gives away just four runs while picking up a wicket.

It's all spin at the moment as left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja comes into the attack now. Rohit takes a single to deep point off the second ball.

Dinesh Karthik gets off the mark with a boundary through midwicket as Jadeja drops it short. He then survives a close call as he run across for a quick single but Jadeja misses the stumps at the bowler's end.

Eight runs from that over as Mumbai reach 68 for two after eight overs.

Tendulkar's sacrifice goes waste as Smith fails to make most of his lifeline. He looks to play it on the leg side but gets a thick outside edge and is caught at point to give Jakati his first wicket in hi final over.

Smith made a quick 38 from 22 balls before he was involved in that Tendulkar run out and then soon after threw away his wicket too.

Mumbai in trouble at 55 for two in the seventh over.

Rohit cuts a short ball behind point to get two runs and then gets another couple through midwicket. He ends the over with a single.

Jakati finishes with good figures of one for 25 in four overs.

Jakati to bowl his third over as Chennai look to make a breakthrough. Tendulkar plays the slog sweep but it goes straight to the fielder and the next ball is hit to the cover fielder.

Jakati then drops one short and Tendulkar rocks back and cuts it for a boundary through the off-side and then collects a single from the next ball.

Against the run of play, Mumbai lose their first wicket. Tendulkar cuts it straight to point as Smith sprints to the striker's end but Tendulkar leaves his ground to sacrifice his wicket.

Tendulkar is run out for 11 from as many balls.

Smith keeps the boundaries coming as he lofts it back over the bowler's head for a four. Two balls later he flicks it over the square leg region for the second four of that over.

Hilfenhaus then tries the slower ball which Smith tries to force through the off-side but Bravo makes a good stop in the covers.

Smith then takes on a short ball from Hilfenhaus and launches it over midwicket for a six which takes him to 32 from 17 balls, with the help of four fours and two sixes.

14 runs from that over as Mumbai reach 41 after four overs.

Jakati to bowl his second over. Tendulkar cuts the first ball past point region for a boundary as Mumbai continue their attacking start.

Jakati then bowls a wide down the leg side and hits the next ball straight to the point fielder and takes a single from the next ball. Smith takes a single from the fifth ball before Tendulkar hits the final ball of that over to the point fielder.

Ben Hilfenhaus to start the second over as he starts off with a wide down the leg side.

 

Next up Hilfenhaus bowls one down the leg side Dwayne Smith is more than happy to help himself with the second boundary of Mumbai innings.

 

Smith then chips one through midwicket -- gets couple. Interesting field placing his from Dhoni -- having a slip and a gully, which is near third man.

 

Smith gets an inside edge -- good work from Dhoni -- no run.

 

A top edge off the final over -- flies over the boundary for the first six off the innings.

After losing a couple of eary wickets, Chennai struggled in the first half of their innings, scoring 61 for two in ten overs. But Dhoni's arrival changed things big time as they smashed 126 runs from the next ten overs to post an imposing 187 for five.

Hussey's innings was useful too as he made 49 from 39 balls, while Badrinath gave them the lift after those early losses with his quick knock of 47 from 39 balls.

Harbhajan bowled only three overs and didn't come on to bowl against the rampaging Dhoni in the final overs. Kulkarni started off well but was taken apart in the final overs to take three for 46 in four overs, while Malinga gave away 41 runs in four overs.

The young Kulkarni to bowl the final over. Dhoni hits the first ball straight to Pollard at long-on but Dhoni and Bravo sprint across for a couple.

Dhoni plays the paddle sweep but hits it straight to the short fine leg fielder to move to 49 from 19 balls.

Kulkarni tries the slower ball but misses his radar and gives away a wide on the off-side.

Bravo then sends the next ball soaring over the midwicket fence for another huge six. The West Indian then throws his bat at a wide delivery and it goes over the cover boundary for a six. But the next ball is hit straight to the fielder on the fence in that same region for a single.

Dhoni inside edges the final ball and it goes past the wicketkeeper for two runs.

Dhoni finishes unbeaten on 51 from just 20 balls, hitting six four and two sixes, with a strike rate of 255. Bravo was equally effective with the bat, hammering 33 from 14 balls, as the two batsmen were involved in an unbroken stand of 73 from 29 balls.

The last five overs went Chennai's way as they hammered 73 runs for the loss of just one wicket.

Malinga is getting the rough treatment as Dhoni and Bravo are on an all-out attack.

Bravo drives the first ball to extra cover for two runs and then chips the next ball over the cover fielder for a boundary.

Dhoni then brings out the helicopter shot as he powerfully flicks a yorker from Malinga over midwicket for a six. He is on 45 from just 16 balls.

Bravo ends the over with a boundary as he chips it over the midwicket region.

Malinga ends with 41 runs from four overs, having conceded 31 runs in two overs.

RP Singh to bowl the 18th over. Dhoni is toying with the bowlers here. He gives himself room and chips RP over the cover region for a boundary. Dhoni then drives wide of the mid-on fielder for two runs.

Dhoni hammers the next ball to the same region but Pollard comes up with a diving save to his right at mid-on and stops a certain boundary, while giving just a single.

Chennai reach 150 for five after 18 overs.

Dhoni is looking unstoppable at the moment. He hits a full toss from Malinga through the midwicket region where Dwayne Smith misfields to gift a boundary.

Two balls later, Dwayne Bravo guides a full toss past the fine leg fielder for another four.

The runs continue to flow for Chennai as 13 runs come from that Malinga over to take the total to 141 for five after 17 overs.

Dhoni has raced to 32 from 12 balls, while Bravo is seven from four balls.

Kulkarni is back for a new spell. He starts with a wicket once again. Jadeja throws his bat at a wide delivery but fails to get it off the middle and is caught by Rohit at point for one.

He slaps a full toss back past the bowler for a boundary and then drills the next ball past the cover region. Dhoni then pulls the next ball to the short fine leg region for the third boundary of the over.

Dhoni races to 25 from nine balls as Chennai reach 128 for five after 16 overs.

James Franklin is the new bowler. He starts with a yorker which Hussey digs out and the inside edge goes past the short fine leg fielder for a four.

Hussey then tries to lift the next ball over the leg side but holes to Kulkarni on the square leg boundary to be dismissed after scoring 49 from 39 balls.

Those two quick wickets have pegged back Chennai.

Dhoni is looking in a positive mood out there. He lofts the last ball from Franklin out of the stadium for a huge six....

Pollard finally gets Mumbai the breakthrough. Badrinath looks to continue Chennai's attacking approach as he lofts Pollard back over his head but is caught at long-on after a good innings of 47 from 39 balls.

Badrinath and Hussey put Chennai on top with their partnership of 94 runs from 12 overs after they after were reduced to one for two in the second over.

Captain MS Dhoni gets off the mark in some style as he powerfully flicks it through midwicket for a four that also brings up Chennai's 100.

RP Singh replaces Harbhajan, who went for 19 runs in his previous over. Two singles from the first two balls before Badrinath top edges a pull shot but it falls safely on the leg side.

Hussey then chips a full delivery over the midwicket region for a four. The veteran gets another boundary off the next ball as he pulls a short ball over the midwicket region.

He clips the last ball behind square on the leg side for one.

Chennai are comfortably placed at 94 for two after 13 overs.

Chennai have scored 50 runs from the last five overs to take control after a horror start.

Malinga is back into the attack now for his second spell and Mumbai will need him to strike with a wicket. Once again the pacer is bang on target as Badrinath is forced to defend the first two balls.

The next ball is a wide down the leg side. Badrinath then drives a full toss straight to mid-on and steers the next ball to thirdman for one.

Malinga then bowls a quick bouncer to Hussey who lets it go to the keeper and then defends a yorker.

Malinga has conceded just two runs in that over as Chennai reach 82 for two in 12 overs.

Harbhajan to bowl his third over. Badrinath takes a single from the first ball and Hussey hits the next ball straight to the short fine leg fielder and they steal a quick single.

Badrinath then gets his front foot out of the way and lofts Harbhajan into the stands over midwicket for a six to race to 43 from 31 balls. The right-hander then steers the next ball to deep point for one.

Hussey continues Chennai's good progress as he steps down the wicket and lofts Harbhajan over long-off for a six. He reverse sweeps the next ball and gets it fine for another boundary.

Chennai have cut loose as they get 19 runs from that Harbhajan over to reach 80 for two after 11 overs.

The teams are ready to resume action after the strategic time out. Hussey starts off with a bang as he lofts the first ball from Pollard over midwicket for a four and then takes a single to long-off.

Badrinath looks to play the paddle sweep but fails to connect. He pulls the next ball to midwicket there Malinga misjudges the bounce on the ropes and gifts a boundary.

Badrinath makes it back to back boundaries as he gets the next ball fine on the leg side.

Left-arm pacer RP Singh into the attack now to replace Harbhajan, who bowled a good first spell of 2-1-1-0.

Singh nearly strikes with his first ball. Hussey goes after a wide ball but get a thick edge which flies past the first slip fielder for a boundary.

Hussey plays two dot balls before he smashes a short ball over the point fielder for the second boundary of the over.

The left-hander defends the next ball back to the bowler and does the same with the final ball of that over.

Kulkarni gets the edge yet again as Badrinath looks to drive it through the off-side but it goes wide off Rohit Sharma at first slip for a four.

The first slip moves a bit wider now as Badrinath defends the next ball.

Badrinath then takes a couple of steps down the ground and thumps it down the ground past mid-off for a boundary. The right-hander defends the next ball before a single to the thirdman region.

Replays shows Hussey was lucky to survive that LBW shout in Harbhajan's previous over.

The left-hander hits the first ball of Harbhajan's second over to the point region. He defends the next two balls and then plays the next ball to the cover region.

The veteran Aussie fails to get runs off the final two balls as Harbhajan bowls a maiden over.

Hussey is yet to get off the mark after eight balls as Chennai are struggling at four for two in three overs.

Pacer Dhawal Kulkarni starts wickets off his first two balls.

Vijay (1) reaches out to a wide delivery and it swings enough to take the edge and is caught by the first slip fielder.

Suresh Raina is bowled off the next ball as Mumbai are off to an excellent start with Chennai reduced to 1 for two after 1.2 overs.

Raina went for a drive through the off-side without any real footwork but inside edged it back on to his stumps.

Kulkarni on a hat-trick now but he messes it up with a wide down the leg side.

S Badrinath is beaten off the next ball as he reaches out to one outside the off-stump that moved quite a bit and he is lucky not to have edged it. Badri defends the next ball on the off-side.

There is an appeal for LBW against Badrinath as Kulkarni gets this one to come in but its hits the batsman too high on the pads.

Badrinath then finds the gap in the covers as Kieron Pollard sprints behind the ball and a good diving stop keeps the batsmen down to two.

A red carpet welcome for the Mumbai Indians fielders and the Chennai openers as they make way into the outfield.

Mike Hussey open the batting for Chennai and they will be facing Harbhajan Singh, who will bowl the first over for Mumbai.

Harbhajan starts from round the wicket to Vijay, who defends the first ball and hits the second ball to midwicket. Vijay plays the next ball down the pitch and then gets his team off the mark with a single to long-on.

There is a huge appeal for LBW first up against Hussey as he goes back and looks to defend. That looked plumb!! Did he get an edge? The replays will be interesting.

He plays the last ball to the covers as Harbhajan concedes just one in the first over.

Mumbai Indians captain Harbhajan Singh wins the toss and elects to bowl against Chennai Super Kings in the Elimination match of the Indian Premier League in Bangalore, on Wednesday.

Champions Chennai have made two changes to their team with S Badrinath replacing Anirudha Srikkanth, who is not fit. Left-arm spinner Shadab Jakati replaces pacer Yo Mahesh.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians went in with an unchanged team that beat Rajasthan Royals in their last match.
