England the second day on a high after a good session with the bat courtesy of Alastair Cook and Kevin Pietersen, with both hitting unbeaten half-centuries.

England finish the day on 178 for two in 65 overs, and now trail India by 149 runs with eight wickets still in hand.

Cook continued his good run with the bat to score a patient 87 from 209 balls, while Pietersen provided the boost with a brisk 62 from 85 balls. The duo have so far added 110 runs in 186 balls to thwart the Indian spinners and help the visitors end the day with a slight edge.
