STUMPS - DAY 3

India 2nd inns: 117-7 (33 ovs)

Panesar has five for 61 in 16 overs to follow up on his five for 129 in the first innings. And can you imagine, he was not picked for the first Test in Ahmedabad!

Gambhir cuts a short ball from Swann through point for a four to bring up his fifty from 105 balls. He has stood tall among the ruins to save the blushes for the hosts.

India manage to play out the day as they reach stumps at 117 for seven in 33 overs, with a slender lead of 31 runs.

The only question now on everyone's mind is how long can India last in this match?

With two days to go, England will look to secure an easy victory on the fourth day.

With wickets falling at the other end, Gambhir stood like a rock, defying everything the English spinners threw at him to finish on 53 not out from 109 balls, while Harbhajan Singh was not out on one.

Panesar was virtually unplayable on this wicket as he took five for 61 in 16 overs, while Swann claimed two for 39 in 13 overs.
