Ashwin finally makes the long awaited breakthrough for India. Cook is dismissed for a superb innings of 122 from 170 balls, hitting 13 fours and a six, before he edges one that turns away slightly to be caught behind.

It took India 22 overs and 85 minutes on the third day to make the breakthrough.

Cook added 206 runs off 318 balls in 212 minutes for the third wicket with Pietersen to put his team in control.

That was the first wicket for Ashwin in his 31st over. The wicket meant that India took the second new ball after 87 overs.
