Scorecard:

The home team reach the 100-run mark in the 18th over with a single by Malinga. However, in the next balls Samuels has Mendis (1) caught by Dwayne Bravo at deep midwicket.

Narine has Malinga (5) caught by Bravo at long-on to take his third wicket and help his team win by 36 runs.

West Indies are the new world T20 champions.

However, Narine comes back to account for Kulasekara (26), having him caught by Badree at deep cover.

Kulasekara's 13-ball innings had offered the home team a bit of hope.

Thisara Perera (3) is run out by a Ramdin direct hit in the next over and the home team is struggling to make a game out of this. 

Sammy has Lahiru Thirimanne (4) caught by Charles at long on to all but end the home team's hopes.

Kulasekara smashes the first six of his team over midwicket in Rampaul's third over and follows it up with three boundaries.

Sri Lanka 94 for seven after 16 overs.

Angelo Mathews (1) comes and goes, cleaned bowled by Darren Sammy. 

Badree is unlucky as Jayawardene (on 27) is dropped by Russell at long on. This is the second time in the innings that the Sri Lankan captain has been lucky. 

However, he is not lucky a third time as Narine has him caught by Sammy at point. Jayawardene's 36-ball 33 contained just two boundaries.

Two balls later, Narine runs out Jeevan Mendis (3)

Sri Lanka 64 for five after 13 overs.

Scorecard:

Samuels concedes just seven runs in his first two overs. Rampaul replaces Badree (2-0-13-0) in the attack in the sixth over and gives away four runs.

Chris Gayle concedes six in his first over and then we have Sunil Narine in the attack, in the eighth over. Just three runs off his first over.

Sangakkara eases the pressure with an inside out boundary in Gayle's second over.

However, Badree returns to provide Windies the breakthrough they so desperately needed, having Sangakkara (22) caught by Pollard.

Sri Lanka 51 for two after 10 overs.

Kumar Sangakkara has come out to join his captain. He starts with a boundary off the outside edge.

Marlon Samuels to bowl the third over. He is unlucky as Dwayne Bravo puts down Jayawardene (on five) off the third ball.

Samuel Badree replaces Rampaul at the other end at Jayawardene welcomes him with a boundary past point.

Mahela Jayawardene and Tillakeratne Dilshan open the batting for the home team while West Indies start with Samuel Badree. 

Jayawardene hit the fifth ball to the fence as six runs come off the first over. 

Ravi Rampaul to share the new ball. And he strikes first ball, cleaning up Dilshan (0).

Lasith Malinga ends his spell with not so impressive figures of none for 54.

Nuwan Kulasekara to bowl the final over. He concedes 15 runs, including two boundaries to Darren Sammy.

The Windies captain remains unbeaten on a 15-ball 26 as his team score 137 for six in their stipulated 20 overs.

A good comeback by West Indies considering their awful start. But the question is would this be enough?

Scorecard:

Bravo's dismissal was a poor one, a bad decision by Simon Taufel - standing for his last match. The batsman had nicked the ball. 

Samuels reaches a well-deserved half century with a six off Jeevan Mendis. He celebrates the same with a boundary next ball. While Ajantha has been impressive the other Mendis, Jeevan, has been expensive today.

The former returns to have Pollard (2) caught by Dananjaya at point. Two balls later he traps Andre Russell (0) plumb in front to finish with figures of four for 12 off his four overs. 

Malinga back into the attack in the 17th over. Samuels hits a boundary wide of third man off the third ball and follows it up with two huge sixes. The paceman has gone for 44 in his three overs.

A good bowling change from Jayawardene ensures the dismissal of Samuels (78). Dananjay has him caught by Jeevan Mendis at midwicket. 

Samuels' was a great knock, his 56-ball innings comprising of three boundaries and six huge sixes.

West Indies 112 for six after 18 overs.

19:59   World T20 Live! Ajantha Mendis helps Lanka hit back
Scorecard:

Jeevan Mendis into the attack in the 11th over and he is unfortunate as Marlon Samuels (on 20) is spilled by Kulasekara in the boundary.

Bravo eases some pressure with a six off Dananjaya.

Samuels helps the Windies cause with three sixes off Malinga, the last one helping raise the 50-run partnership for the third wicket.

However, with the partnership at 59 (off eight overs), Mendis traps Bravo (19) plumb in front.

West Indies 73 for three after 14 overs.

Mathews, who has been spectacular with the ball today, will finish his spell. He ends with impressive figures of 4-1-11-1.

Akila Dananjaya into the attack in the 10th over, replacing Ajantha Mendis (2-0-6-1). Just three singles from the over.

West Indies 32 for two after 10 overs.

Nuwan Kulasekara shares the new ball. Only one wide from an otherwise good over.

After a first over that was a wicket maiden, Mathews concedes only one run in his second over. 

Just two runs from the first three overs for Windies. Marlon Samuels eases the pressure with a boundary off Kulasekara.

Lasith Malinga replaces Mathews (2-1-1-1) in the attack in the fifth over.

Ajantha Mendis replaces Kulasekara (2-0-7-0) in the attack in the sixth over and strikes with his fifth ball, having Gayle (3) out leg before.

West Indies 14 for two after six overs.

Johnson Charles and Chris Gayle open the batting for Sri Lanka while it will be Angelo Mathews starts with the ball for the home team. 

Mathews strikes with his fifth ball, having Charles caught by Nuwan Kulasekara.

West Indies have won the toss and elected to bat first against Sri Lanka in the final of the World T20 at Colombo on Sunday.

"When we put a total on the board, we do well," reasons West Indies captain Darren Sammy. 

The Caribbeans have named an unchanged side while the hosts have drafted in Akila Dananjaya for Rangana Herath.
