CLT20 updates: Tiwary, Bhatia look to revive KKR innings

Rajat Bhatia and Manoj Tiwary are looking to revive Kolkata innings with a partnership.

 

Kolkata were reeling at 24-4 at one time chasing a massive 161. Morne Morkel and Umesh Yadav have been virtually unplayable because of their pace.

 

To add to that is Irfan Pathan's swing, who did the early damage with a couple of wickets in the opening over.

 

At the end of 11 overs Kolkata were 49-4. Tiwary is on 20, while Bhatia is on 9.

Umesh Yadav strikes in his first over as he removes Yusuf Pathan for 11.

 

Pathan rattles by the short pitch bowling by the Delhi bowlers dabbed one but the ball recotiated off his bat back off to his stumps much to the delight of the bowler.

 

Kolkata reeling now at 26-4.

After Irfan Pathan's twin strike Morne Mokel stikes off the first ball -- removing Brendon McCullum for another duck.

 

Knight Riders are losing wikets in a jiffy.

 

Kolkata were 4-3 after 1.3 overs.

Irfan Pathan strikes in the first over itself as he removes Gautam Gambhir for a duck.

 

Gambhir looking to chip the ball over the infield, doesn't get any timing on the ball and hits it straight to Kevin Pietersen at mid on.

 

Three balls later he removes the other opener caught in front of the stumps for 1.

 

Dream start for Delhi and Pathan as KKR were 3-2.

Final over from L Balaji and starts off with a slower one as Irfan Pathan goes for a wild swing.

 

Pathan then swings one down the leg side for a much-needed boundary. Pathan then picks up a single to give the strike to Agarkar.

 

Agarkar smokes a slower one from Balaji into the stands much to the delight of fans.

 

So with the final ball Agarkar gives a easy catch as Delhi manage a competitive 160-8.

 

Earlier, Unmukt Chand's 27-ball 40 and Ross Taylor's 24 ball 36 helped Delhi get the much needed momentum after they had lost Kevin Pietersen and Virender Sehwag in quick succession.

 

Delhi manage to get 30 runs off Balaji's third over, but then lost momentum as they couldn't manage much in the 18th and the 19th over.

 

Sunil Narine was the most successful bowler for KKR with figures fo 3-21.

Ross Taylor and Unmukt chand have started to use the long handle to good effect getting some much-needed momentum.

 

Taylor latched onto to a leg side delivery from L Balaji and smoked it for a maximum.

 

Balaji then round the stumps bowls a juicy full toss as Taylor helps himself for a boundary.

 

Another short delivery from Balaji, but Taylor fails to connect it as well as he would have liked and hit it straight to Rajat Bhatia.

 

Chand meanwhile, at the other end smoked a six through off side and followed it up with another boundary.

 

Chand finishes the over with a boundary smoking 27 runs off it. Delhi were 144-4 after 17 overs.

 

Chand is on 40, while Pathan is yet to open his account.

Brett Lee comes into the attack for his final over. Daredevils will look to get the momentum back in their favour.

 

Ross Taylor hits one straight for a single. Chand at the other end goes for a slog, gets an inside edge for a single towards fine leg.

 

Chand looks for a big one gets a top edge -- goes high in the air but Manoj Tiwary spills the catch as the batsmen pick two runs.

 

Delhi were 93-3 after 14 overs. Taylor is on 17, while Chand is on 17.

Brett Lee brought back into the attack and he strikes in over. Lee removes the big first Kevin Pietersen for 14.

 

Pietersen looking to put a short delivery from Lee into the stands, couldn't clear the boundary ropes as Sunil Narine takes a neat little running catch at midwicket.

 

At the halfway stage, Daredevils were 64-3.

Pradeep Sangwan comes into the attack as KP pushes for a single on the off side.

 

Sangwan to Sehwag as he goes back on the back foot to smash it on the off-side gets a faint edge to the keeper much to the delight of the bowler.

 

Unmukt Chand comes out in the middle and creams a boundary through the offside to make his intentions clear as Daredelvils reach 62-2 after 9 overs.

Sunil Narine comes into the attack -- replacing Balaji.

 

And as we speak he STRIKES!!!

 

Narine castles Jayawardene -- spin on the ball, quicker one too as the ball crashes on the off stump. Jayawardene made 21.

 

Kevin Pietersen comes in the middle and picks Narine for a couple. Next upm KP gets an outside edge -- keeper Bisla drops him for a single.

 

Sehwag at the other end smokes Narine for a maximum as Delhi reach 46-1 after 6 overs. Sehwag is on 20, while KP is on 3.

Delhi Daredevils are off to a mixed start after being asked to bat first by the Kolkata Knight Riders in Centurion.

 

While Brett Lee's first over produced two runs, Virender Sehwag and Mahela Jayawardene made up for it in the second over off Laxmipathy Balaji smashing 11 runs.

 

Jayawardene then took the attack to Lee, smashing two boundaries and Daredevils got the much-needed momentum.

 

At the end of 3 overs DD were 22-0. Jayawardene is on 15, while Sehwag is on 6.

The news from the middle is Kolkata Knight Riders have won the toss and have elected to bowl first against Delhi Daredevils.

 

Kevin Pietersen returns to cricket after sitting out. The other three foreign players for DD are skipper Mahela Jayawardene, Ross Taylor and Morne Morkel.

 

Meanwhile KKR are going in with Jacques Kallis, Brett Lee and Sunil Narine.
