He then reverse sweeps and gets it fine but Ashwin makes a good stop at short thirdman to stop a certain boundary.

Symes plays the fifth ball back to the bowler before a single to long-off.

Symes sweeps the first ball to fine leg and he sprints across for two runs as an unhappy Dhoni slams the fielder Badrinath for reacting slowly to that shot at fine leg.

The wicket of Bodi has slowed down Lions, who get just five runs from that Ashwin over.

With the spinners struggling, Dhoni brings back pacer Morkel. McKenzie gets an inside edge off the first ball but it goes past the stumps behind the wickets for a boundary.

Morkel strikes with the important wicket of Bodi, who throws his wicket at a wide ball but is caught behind for a quickfire 64.

Left-hander Jean Symes is the new batsman and he is beaten outside the off-stump off the first delivery before he gets a single to the covers.

Morkel then beats McKenzie with an inswinger that goes close to the stumps.

Ashwin starts with a short ball and Bodi cuts it past point for a boundary as Lions start taking control. Two balls later, he chips down the wicket and lofts it back over his head for a six.

Chennai need to make a breakthrough or else Lions will start to run away with the game.

Ashwin is resorting to a huge pause before bowling the delivery, a variation he tries when his bowling is under pressure. Bodi sweeps the last ball fine on the leg side for two runs.

Part-time leg-spinner Faf du Plessis into the attack now. He starts with a full toss that McKenzie smashes on the leg side for a boundary and then flicks it to deep square leg for two runs.

Bodi then slog sweeps du Plessis over midwicket for a six to bring up his half-century in some style, from 38 balls.

R Ashwin into the attack now. For a change, Bodi gets a boundary through the off-side as he smashes a full delivery from Ashwin through extra cover. Two balls later he plays the inside out chip over the cover region for another boundary as Lions's run chase gathers momentum.

Bodi has changed gears as he steps down the wicket to Jadeja and lofts him over midwicket for a four from the fifth delivery of that over. He then turns it softly on the leg side to get a couple as nine runs came from that over with Lions needing exactly 100 runs from the last ten overs for victory.

Morkel continues as Bodi plays another dot ball. However, he brings some relief to his dressing room as he plays the cross-batted slog against Morkel over the leg side for a six before a single from the next ball.

McKenzie then steals a quick single making it just in time despite a direct hit from Ashwin at midwicket.

Morkel then oversteps and Bodi makes most of the freehit as he slogs it over the leg side for another six.

17 runs from the over as Lions reach 50 for two after nine overs.

Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja is brought into the attack now. It is singles at the moment for Lions as Jadeja keeps it straight and full. Five singles from his first over as the required rate is now 10.5 with 126 runs needed from 12 overs.

Bodi is struggling on 15 from 23 balls and McKenzie on 11 from 16 balls.

Albie Morkel into the attack now, replacing Bollinger, who bowled a superb first spell of two for nine in three overs.

McKenzie takes a single from the second ball before Bodi gets another leg bye and McKenzie is then beaten outside the off-stump as he looks to steer it to thirdman.

The field is in place perfectly for McKenzie who pulls a short ball but it goes straight to the deep midwicket fielder for one and Bodi ends the over with another single.

The required run rate is well above the nine-run mark with 141 runs needed from 15 overs.

Hilfenhaus will also bowl his third over. Bodi gets one from the first ball before McKenzie pulls a short ball fine on the leg side for a boundary.

Just one more single as Chennai continue to stifle the scoring rate with Lions struggling at 24 for two in six overs.

With Bollinger claiming two wickets in his first two overs, Dhoni decides to give him another over.

Bodi plays the first ball to mid-on for one but McKenzie struggles to get a run from the next three balls. He gets a single to the fine leg region from the fifth ball as the required run rate continues to climb.

The last ball is a yorker which Bodi drives down to mid-on for a single.

Bodi get his first boundary in streaky fashion as he looks to play it across the line on the leg side but the outside edge flies over the first slip fielder.

The left-hander then turns it on the leg side before Neil McKenzie pulls it to deep square leg for another single.

Bodi turns the final ball on the leg side for another single as Chennai's opening bowlers continue their good showing with the ball.

Bollinger claims another wicket in his second over. A full delivery that swings away from de Kock, who throws his bat at it but misses and is caught behind.

The pressure built by the two Chennai pacers has worked as de Kock went for a wild shot and lost his wicket.

Ben Hilfenhaus to bowl the second over. Bodi is struggling to get going as he fails to get runs from the first four balls before two runs to the leg side to get off the mark.

A good start by the Chennai bowlers.

Alviro Petersen and Gulam Bodi to open the batting for Lions, while Doug Bollinger will the bowl the first over.

Bollinger strikes with the first delivery of the innings as he gets Petersen leg before wicket. That was full and shaped in as Petersen missed, trying to play on the leg side, and was trapped plumb in front of the wickets.

Left-hander Quinton de Kock is the new batsman. The youngster is beaten off the first ball as he throws his bat at a wide delivery that swings away.

But he gets the next ball off the middle as he flicks a full delivery on the pads through midwicket for a boundary.

He gives Bollinger the charge off the final delivery and tries to flay it through the off-side but misses.

Tanvir to bowl the final over. Dhoni tries to pull but fails to time it and gets one to midwicket. Badrinath clips it to the leg side for two and then slaps the next ball to deep midwicket for another couple.

Dhoni perishes off the fifth ball as he holes out to Symes at long-off for 34 from 26 balls.

Nannes to bowl the 19th over. Dhoni takes a single from the first ball before Badrinath shuffles across and heaves it over midwicket for a six.

Badri then looks to play the paddle sweep but misses and the LBW appeal is turned down by the umpire as the ball looks to be missing off.

Dhoni then gets it off the middle as he smashes the ball through midwicket for a boundary and Badri then slogs the last ball over midwicket for a six.

19 runs came from that over as CSK reach 150 for five in 19 overs.

Left-arm pacer Tanvir back for his second spell. Dhoni takes a single before Tanvir bowls a high bouncer to Badrinath, which is called a wide. Two more singles before Badrinath paddles it to deep square leg for two runs followed by a single to long-on.

Dhoni then hits a full toss to midwicket and sets off for a quick run but is lucky that the fielder has missed the stumps at the non-striker's end.

Dhoni decides it is time to cut loose. He pulls a short ball over the square leg boundary for a six before powerfully smashing a full delivery through midwicket for a boundary.

Dhoni then somehow keeps out a fast yorker and gets a single too. Two more singles to end the over as Chennai reach 123 for five in 17 overs.

Albie Morkel gets off the mark in style as he hammers Nannes through the thirdman region for a four. But the left-arm pacer gets his revenge as he gets Morkel caught behind for four.

S Badrinath, finally gets a bat, as he walks out at number seven. He gets off the mark with a single on the off-side and then Dhoni turns it to the leg side for one before Badri does the same to end the over.

Phanginso to bowl his fourth and final over. Jadeja tries to play a big shot on the leg side but holes out to the fielder at long-on.

Morris is back into the attack and Dhoni welcomes by smacking the first ball over mid-off for a six. Two balls later, he pulls a short ball to the leg side for one and Jadeja steers it to the thirdman region for one.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni walks out to bat at number four and he will be facing Phangiso. He plays the first ball to point region for a single to get off the mark.

Chennai lose another wicket as Vijay is dismissed leg before wicket. He goes back and looks to play across the line on the leg side but misses and is struck right in front of the stumps. Infact, Vijay starts to walk back even before the umpire could give him out. The plumbest LBW ever!!

New batsman Ravindra Jadeja plays the first ball on the leg side for one and Dhoni gets one to the cover region. Jadeja takes one from the fifth ball before Dhoni defends the last ball.

Medium pacer Zander de Bruyn into the attack now after just one over from Jean Symes. Vijay chips the first ball just past the bowler for one before Raina cuts the third ball between point and short thirdman for a four.

Raina then pulls a short ball past the short fine leg fielder for back to back boundaries.

However he perishes a couple of balls later as he chips it straight down the throat of the fielder at long-off.

Chennai have made just 22 runs from the last five overs, having raced to 31 for one after five overs before Lions pulled back things.

Raina, who is struggling to get going, breaks the shackles as he steps down and lofts Phangiso over his head for a six.

Raina then defends it back to the bowler, who looks to have taken a catch but hold on, it looks close. Replays show the ball might have touched the ground before Phangiso could his get fingers under it. Raina survives!

Raina then works it on the leg side for one and Vijay plays the last ball to long-off for one.

Left-arm spinner from both ends as Jean Symes comes into the attack. Vijay plays a full toss down to long-on for a single. Raina fails to get a run from the next four balls before cutting the last ball past point for three runs to take Chennai past the 50-run mark.

Left-arm spinner Aaron Phangiso into the attack now. Suresh Raina gets a single to long-on from the second ball before Vijay clips it to short fine leg region for another single.

Raina runs for a quick leg bye on the on-side before Vijay plays it long-on as just four runs come from Phangiso's first over.

Vijay defends the first two balls from Morris before he is hit by a quick bouncer that comes in sharply but they take a quick run.

Morris then makes the first breakthrough for Lions with the wicket of du Plessis. The right-hander looks to chip it over the off-side but Aaron Phangiso runs back from cover and comes up with a brilliant catch, falling forward.

Change of ends for Nannes as he replaces Tanvir. He starts with a yorker, which du Plessis defends before he is hit on the right elbow off the next ball as he plays the pull shot but misses the ball.

Vijay then throws his bat a wide outgoing delivery but is beaten and then gets two to deep midwicket.

Vijay then lofts the next ball over the leg side for a six as 10 runs come from that over.

Right-arm fast bowler Chris Morris into the attack now, replacing Nannes. He starts with a wide down the leg side to du Plessis, who defends the next ball and then takes a single from the next ball.

Morris then bowls a quick (140kph) bouncer to Vijay, who somehow manages to duck under it. The next three balls are dot ball as Vijay hits them straight to fielders.

A good start from Morris, giving away just two runs.

Du Plessis is on the charge. He flicks a full delivery on the pads from Tanvir through midwicket for a boundary. A couple of deliveries later he rocks back and pulls a short ball over midwicket for another four.

He then chips down the track and lofts it over the off-side for three runs with the fielder on the thirdman boundary running around and making a good stop.

Vijay takes a cue from du Plessis as he cuts a short ball behind point for the third boundary of the over.

20 runs from the Tanvir over as Chennai are off to a flying start.

Dirk Nannes to bowl the second over. Du Plessis gets a thick outside edge off the second edge for two runs to the midwicket region.

Two balls later, the right-hander lofts a full delivery back over the bowler's head for the first six of the innings. He then clips it to midwicket region before digging out a yorker to take a single.

11 runs from that over.

Chennai have a new opening pair with Murali Vijay walking out to bat with Faf du Plessis. Left-armer Sohail Tanvir to bowl the first over to a 6-3 off-side field.

Du Plessis lets the first ball go through to the keeper as it moves away from him while the second ball on the pads is defended to mid-on.

The third ball is again an outswinger outside the off-stump which du Plessis lets go. The fourth ball bounces a bit extra, striking high on the bat, breaking the bat of du Plessis in two pieces.

Chennai are off the mark as du Plessis plays the fifth ball to mid-on for one. Vijay ends the over with a cracking boundary as he smashes the final ball through the cover region.

Lions captain Alviro Petersen wins the toss and elects to bowl against Chennai Super Kings in the Group B match of the Champions League T20 in Cape Town, on Tuesday.

Chennai, who were beaten by Sydney Sixers in their opening match, made a couple of changes to their team. South African all-rounder Albie Morkel replaced veteran Australian batsman Mike Hussey.

Pacer Yo Mahesh, who bowled just one over in the first match for 18 runs, made way for Wriddhiman Saha.

Lions, who outclassed Mumbai Indians in their first match, went in with an unchanged side.

In the first match of the day, Sydney Sixers registered their second win in a row when they crushed Yorkshire by eight wickets.

Batting first, Yorkshire managed a paltry 96 for nine in their 20 overs. Sixers chased down the target in just 8.5 overs with 67 deliveries to spare to register their second win in the tournament.
