New Zealand captain Ross Taylor wins the toss and elects to bat against Sri Lanka in the Super Eights match of the World Twenty20 in Pallekele, on Thursday.

Taylor confirms that opener Martin Guptill is back in the squad and he will replace Adam Milne.

Sri Lanka have handed 18-year-old mystery spinner Akila Dananjaya his international debut. Ajantha Mendis has also been declared fit to play after a fitness test ahead of the game.

Dananjaya caught the eye of Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene with his bowling during a nets session. Jayawardene was so impressed that he asked for the young spinner to be fast tracked into the national side, even though he had not played even first class cricket at that point of time.

He played for Wayamba United in the Sri Lanka Premier League, where he further underlined his credentials as a spinner and was promptly made included in the team for the ICC World Twenty20.

This is the first match of the Super Eights stage.
