Kohli once again rose the occasion with a magnificent innings of 78 from 61 balls, hitting eight fours and two sixes.
Yuvraj got some useful batting practice out in the middle, hitting 19 from 16 balls. He played a key role with the ball, taking two for 16, answering all his critics in style.
India bounce back in style with a crushing eight-wicket victory over arch-rivals Pakistan. India were thrashed by Australia in their previous match but they have now staged a great comeback to keep their hopes alive of making it to the semi-finals.
India play South Africa in their last match on Tuesday, October 2, at 1930 IST.

Ajmal comes on to bowl his final over with India needing just three runs to win. Yuvraj takes a single from the first ball before Kohli plays three dot balls on the leg side.
Kohli flicks it to deep square leg to level the scores.
Yuvraj clips it to the fine leg region for a single to take India to a convincing victory.
India 126-2 (16 ovs) vs Pak 128
Gul is back into the attack with India needing 19 from 5 overs for victory.
Yuvraj takes a single from the first ball. Kohli pulls the next ball and Nazir drops a catch running in from midwicket to give Kohli a reprieve.
Yuvraj then pulls the next delivery to deep midwicket for one. Kohli then chips down the track and lofts it over the cover region for a four. That was a special shot...no one moved!
Kohli then steers it to the thirdman region where Afridi fumbles to give away two runs. Gul then oversteps the bowling crease to give a no-ball and Kohli flicks it to deep midwicket for two more runs.
The free hit is sent crashing to the boundary by Kohli who slams it through the covers.
16 runs came from that over as India now need three to win from four overs.

Afridi comes on to bowl his final over. Three singles from the first three balls before Yuvraj slams it back past the bowler for a boundary giving no chance to the fielder at long-on.
Yuvraj then brings out the sweep again for two more runs on the leg side before a single down the ground.

Kohli jumps down the track to Ajmal and lofts him back over his head for a six. He is taking Ajmal apart, who seems to have no answer to Kohli's brilliance.
Kohli then takes a single before Yuvraj is beaten outside the off-stump as Ajmal gets it turn to big.
Two more singles as India reach 100 for two after 14 overs, needing 29 from six overs for victory.

Captain Mohammad Hafeez into the attack now to bowl his part-time off-spinners. Kohli defends the first two balls back to the bowler before a clip to deep midwicket gets his one.
Yuvraj taps the fourth ball on the off-side and steals a quick single.
Kohli then flicks it to midwicket and comes across for one and Yuvraj powerfull sweeps the last ball to end the over with a boundary.

Ajmal is back for a new spell. Kohli cuts the second ball past the short thirdman fielder for a four and flicks the next ball on the leg side for two runs to bring up his half-century from 41 balls, his fourth in T20 internationals.

Sehwag cuts Afridi and finds the gap to perfection between the point and short thirdman fielder for a boundary.

A needless shot from Sehwag in the circumstances. He was looking in good touch and didn't need to take the unnecessary risk.

Yasir Arafat is the new bowler for Pakistan. Kohli plays a beautiful cover drive to a full delivery from the pacer for a boundary. He then steers fine on the off-side as Raza Hasan misfields on the thirdman fence to give away another boundary.
Umar Akmal then drops Kohli (42) at point as he dives full length to his left but fails to hold on.
11 runs from Arafat's first over as India reach 70 for one at the halfway stage, needing 59 runs from ten overs for victory.

Kohli ends the over with another single as India make good progress against the spinners.

Hasan to bowl his fourth and final over. Kohli takes a single to sweeper cover and Sehwag flicks the next ball to the leg side for one.

Shahid Afridi into the attack now. He starts with a googly that Kohli defends before a single on the off-side and Sehwag takes one to point.

Saeed Ajmal into the attack now and he will be crucial to Pakistan's chances in this match.
He starts with a doosra that beats Sehwag all ends up as it bounces a bit more. Sehwag gives himself room and steers the second ball through point for one.
Kohli then slaps a short delivery past the fielder at cover for a boundary before flicking the next ball to deep midwicket for one.

Hasan to continue and bowl his third over. Kohli hits the first ball to long-off and gets one while Sehwag flicks it to mid-on for another one.
Kohli then gets another single on the leg side.
Sehwag keeps the boundaries coming. Hasan drifts down the leg side and Sehwag plays the paddle sweep, helping it round the corner for a boundary followed by a single.

Gul bowls another short delivery outside the off-stump, this time it has extra pace and carry, and beats Sehwag, who looks to cut it over point.
The next ball is again trifle short as Sehwag hits it straight to the fielder on the off-side. He taps the fourth ball to point and looks for a quick single but is sent back and Umar Akmal has a shy at the stumps but misses to give away an overthrow.

Pakistan trying to rattle Sehwag with the short ball as Gul bowls another quick bouncer to the Indian opener but it is way too high and is called a wide.
Gul tries to compensate for that by pitching it up and Sehwag flicks it over midwicket for a boundary.

Hasan starts his second over with the quicker arm ball that hits Kohli on the pads, who then hits the next ball to the cover fielder.
The third ball spin quite a bit and Kohli is beaten outside the off-stump, who plays without any real footwork.
Kohli taps the third ball to point for a single and the next ball to long-off for a single.
Sehwag is content to deal in singles at the moment as he picks one to long-on to end the over.

Boom Boom Afridi off the mark in his customary style as he lofts a full ball back past the bowler for a boundary down the ground. Game on!!
Pathan bowls it a bit wide and Afridi flashes at it without any footwork and is lucky not to have edged it. The next ball is a bit wider and is rightly called a wide by the umpire.
Pathan once again bowls it wide and Afridi slaps it through the covers for a four as Pak race to 26 after two overs.

Zaheer then bowls a wide down the leg side and Dhoni misses an easy take to give away five wides. Pak are off to a flier as 11 runs have come from the first three balls with Zaheer cracking under the early pressure.
Zaheer finally gets it on target, beating Nazir, who attempts to drive it through the offside, while he plays the next ball to the cover fielder.
But Zaheer misses his radar again, a wide down the leg side, and Dhoni misses again to give away an extra run.
The veteran pacer nearly redeems himself getting the edge off Nazir but Sehwag drops the chance at first slip.
Nazir got an outside edge trying to play on the leg side but Sehwag grassed it as he fell on his right.

So was it fair that Harbhajan Singh was dropped after that match-winning spell against England?
Rajneesh Gupta points out some figures to justify Harbhajan's axing.

A big relief for South Africa as Watson threatened to finish off the match in a jiffy. They can now look to build the pressure and make a match out of this but Australia are still in control with 38 needed from six overs for victory.

Another short ball and Watson calmly pulls it over the leg side for a huge six over the leg side to bring up his fifty in some style from just 35 balls.
He drives the next ball to long-off for one before Hussey again mistimes the pull short ball and again he gets two runs to deep midwicket.

Botha is guilty again of bowling it short as Watson pulls it powerfully over midwicket. It is heading for a boundary till Duminy comes up with an unbelievable diving stop at deep midwicket to save three runs.

Left-arm spinner Robin Peterson into the attack now. There is a huge appeal for LBW from the first ball as Watson was struck on the pads, trying to defend the ball.

Watson is once again proving to be dangerous with the bat as he has raced to 43 from 31 balls.

Two more singles before Watson hits the third boundary of the over flicking a full delivery on the pads behind square on the leg side.

Australia finally break the shackles. Jacques Kallis starts with a loosener, short and wide outside the off-stump, which Watson smashes through the covers for the first boundary of the innings.
Kallis then bowls a wide down the leg side to release some of the early pressure.
A single each for the two batsmen before Watson nearly chips one to short midwicket as it goes on the bounce to the fielder.
He ends the over with a single as Kallis gives away eight runs in his first over.

Mike Hussey walks out to the middle with Australia looking in a spot of bother, with no many runs on the board and the early dismissal of Warner.

Fast bowler Dale Steyn to bowl the first over for SA and up against him will the two dangerous Ws David Warner and Shane Watson.
Warner defends the first ball back to the bowler and the next ball stays a bit low as the edge goes on the bounce to the keeper.
Warner then gets an inside edge looking to drive through the covers as Morne Morkel makes a good stop at short fine leg to keep it down to one.
Watson defends the next two balls before a single to mid-on.

Peterson played a gem to lift SA to a healthy 146 for five on a pitch which could support the spinners in the second half.
Peterson blasted a quick 32 from 19 balls, adding 60 runs from 35 balls for the sixth wicket with Behardien, who made 31 from 27 balls.
The script changed completely in the final overs as SA hammered 39 runs from the last three overs after early wickets had hampered them early on.

Peterson then walks across his stumps and scoops it fine on the leg side for the third four of the over. He looks to heave the next ball but plays and misses outside the off-stump but they scramble across for a quick bye.
Behardien hits the final delivery to the covers for one as SA finish on 146 for five in their 20 overs.

Behardien then looks to pull a short ball but is late on the shot and it hits the gloves over the keeper for a boundary.
The next ball is again a quick bouncer and Behardien ducks under it. Unbelievable that a batsman lets the ball go through to the keeper in the 19th over. A rare sight in T20 cricket.
Cummins then bowls a good slower delivery which foxes Behardien and spin across him yet it is given a wide down the leg side.
And the extra delivery costs Australia as Behardien heaves it over long-on for a six.
SA have recovered slightly, scoring 25 runs in the last two overs.

It will be all pace in the end overs as Watson comes back now. The first ball is full and Behardien hits it to long-off for one before Peterson gets one to sweeper cover.
Watson then bowls a big wide outside the off-stump before Behardien hits it on the up on the off-side for a single.
Peterson then breaks the shackles as he despatches a full toss over midwicket for a much-needed boundary. He then looks to play the scoop over short fine leg but fails to connect and they get one on the leg side.
Cameron White misfields in the cover region to give away two runs as Watson finishes with two for 29 in four overs.

Pacer Cummins into the attack now and it remains to be seen if Peterson will attempt the reverse sweep against the fast bowler.
Behardien takes a single from the first ball to hand the strike back to Peterson.
Cummins bowls a quick delivery 144.5kph to Peterson who can only defend it back to the bowler. The left-hander dances around the wicket before backing away and misses a full delivery outside the off-stump.
The next ball is a dot ball again before Peterson drives to sweeper cover for one and Behardien drops it on the leg side for one.
Cummins gives away just three runs in that over as SA reach 107 for five in 17 overs.

By the time he finished, he looked like a right-hander playing a drive down the ground. He much he reminds us of his namesake, Kevin Pietersen, who is cooling his heels in the television studio as an expert for ESPN Star Sports.
Behardien fails to get runs from the next two balls before a single brings up SA's 100 in the 16th over.
Peterson once again uses the reverse sweep to good effect, chipping it between point and covers for another boundary.

Behardien defends the last three balls as Duminy ends another good over and his figures now read 3 for 12 in three overs.

Off-spinner Glenn Maxwell into the attack now. Duminy clips the first ball to deep midwicket for a couple before a single down the ground. It's singles at the moment for SA as they reach 64 for three at the halfway stage.

He starts with a 140kph delivery which Amla plays to the covers for one before a 144kph yorker to Duminy, who can only block it.
He clips a short delivery to short fine leg region for one, while Amla gets a streaky boundary as the inside edge narrowly misses the stumps and goes behind the wicket for a four before picking up a single.
Duminy also takes a single as eight runs come from that over.

Amla defends the first ball from Starc and is beaten off the second as he plays and misses outside the off-stump.

Starc then bowls a wide down the leg side before Duminy hits the next two balls straight to fielders on the off-side.
However, he takes full toll on a juicy half volley outside the off-stump as he crashes it through the covers for a boundary.

Amla brings some cheer to the South African dressing room as he plays the inside out shot over the cover region for a huge six.

The veteran looks to pull the next ball but again the slow nature of the pitch means the ball does not come on to him and he is hit on the body. Kallis then drives the next ball down the ground back past the bowler for a four before a single from the next ball.

A superb first over from Doherty as he takes a wicket, while giving away two runs.
15:05 Parnell replaces A Morkel for SA:
Australia captain George Bailey wins the toss and elects to bowl against South Africa in the Super Eights match at the World Twenty20 in Colombo, on Sunday.
South Africa captain AB de Villiers is unfazed at losing the toss, saying even he was looking to bat first and hopes the pitch dries under the sun, making batting a bit difficult in the second half.
Australia make one change to their team, bringing in an extra spinner in Xavier Doherty in place of all-rounder Dan Christian.
For South Africa, left-arm pacer Wayne Parnell replaces Albie Morkel.
14:34 Aus will advance to semis with win over SA:
Australia will look to seal their place in the semi-finals with a victory over South Africa in the Super Eights match at the World Twenty20 in Colombo, on Sunday.
Australia will start as favourites following their convincing nine-wicket victory against India in the previous encounter.
On the other hand, South Africa will be desperate to win and keep their hopes alive of making it to the last four. They went down to Pakistan by two wickets in a thrilling finish in their first game in the Super Eights.
