Kohli once again rose the occasion with a magnificent innings of 78 from 61 balls, hitting eight fours and two sixes.

Yuvraj got some useful batting practice out in the middle, hitting 19 from 16 balls. He played a key role with the ball, taking two for 16, answering all his critics in style.

India bounce back in style with a crushing eight-wicket victory over arch-rivals Pakistan. India were thrashed by Australia in their previous match but they have now staged a great comeback to keep their hopes alive of making it to the semi-finals.

India play South Africa in their last match on Tuesday, October 2, at 1930 IST.

Ajmal comes on to bowl his final over with India needing just three runs to win. Yuvraj takes a single from the first ball before Kohli plays three dot balls on the leg side.

Kohli flicks it to deep square leg to level the scores.

Yuvraj clips it to the fine leg region for a single to take India to a convincing victory.

Gul is back into the attack with India needing 19 from 5 overs for victory.

Yuvraj takes a single from the first ball. Kohli pulls the next ball and Nazir drops a catch running in from midwicket to give Kohli a reprieve.

Yuvraj then pulls the next delivery to deep midwicket for one. Kohli then chips down the track and lofts it over the cover region for a four. That was a special shot...no one moved!

Kohli then steers it to the thirdman region where Afridi fumbles to give away two runs. Gul then oversteps the bowling crease to give a no-ball and Kohli flicks it to deep midwicket for two more runs.

The free hit is sent crashing to the boundary by Kohli who slams it through the covers.

16 runs came from that over as India now need three to win from four overs.

Yasir Arafat is the new bowler for Pakistan. Kohli plays a beautiful cover drive to a full delivery from the pacer for a boundary. He then steers fine on the off-side as Raza Hasan misfields on the thirdman fence to give away another boundary.

Umar Akmal then drops Kohli (42) at point as he dives full length to his left but fails to hold on.

The next ball is again trifle short as Sehwag hits it straight to the fielder on the off-side. He taps the fourth ball to point and looks for a quick single but is sent back and Umar Akmal has a shy at the stumps but misses to give away an overthrow.

Kohli then hits it to Afridi to mid-off and sprints across for one.

Pakistan trying to rattle Sehwag with the short ball as Gul bowls another quick bouncer to the Indian opener but it is way too high and is called a wide.

Gul tries to compensate for that by pitching it up and Sehwag flicks it over midwicket for a boundary.

The third ball spin quite a bit and Kohli is beaten outside the off-stump, who plays without any real footwork.

Sehwag is content to deal in singles at the moment as he picks one to long-on to end the over.

Virender Sehwag defends the first ball, a bit short in length, with a straight bat. He drives the next ball, much fuller, but does not get it off the middle for a single to get off the mark and Kohli follows with a single.

Gul tries to tease Sehwag with a bouncer but he is not in the mood yet and ducks under it.

Left-arm spinner Hasan Raza to bowl the first over. India hold a slight edge with just 129 runs to chase but it won't be easy to chase on this slow wicket.

Gambhir charges down the wicket to the next ball and ends up offering a simple return catch to the bowler.

"The pitch is holding up a bit. The turn is not a big worry but the ball is holding up, which is a worry," he says.

Balaji to bowl the final over of the innings. He starts with a slower ball that foxes Gul, who misses it.

But Balaji misses his length with the next ball and dishes out a full toss, which Gul lofts over square leg for a huge six.

Balaji switches to round the wicket and bowls another full toss but this time Gul lobs it on the off-side and is caught by Dhoni.

Saeed Ajmal then tries to play the scoop over short fine leg but ends up lobbing another simple catch for Dhoni, who nearly collides with Zaheer.

A superb showing by the Indian bowlers, led by Yuvraj's fine spell for two for 16, which triggered the top order collapse.

Balaji was the top wicket-taker with three for 22, while Ashwin claimed 2 for 16 in four overs.

A brilliant over from Ashwin, a wicket and just one run as he finishes with magnificent figures of two for 16 from four overs.

Balaji to bowl his third over. He is quite good at mixing his pace in the death overs and that is why Dhoni has kept him for the end overs.

Arafat plays the first three balls straight to the fielders on the off-side as the pressure starts build on the new batsman.

Balaji then bowls a good slower ball as Arafat is deceived all ends up. As expected he throws his bat at the fifth ball and the outside edge flies fine on the off-side for a boundary.

The last ball is a quick bouncer and Arafat pulls it to deep square leg for one.

Balaji then bowls the slower bouncer which Malik nearly chips to Yuvraj at point, as it falls just short.

Balaji then drifts on the pads as Malik helps it round the corner, fine on the leg side for a boundary.

Ashwin comes back and starts bowling from round the wicket. He starts with a wide down the leg side to Akmal, who defends the next ball. Malik then cuts the fifth ball behind point for two runs and plays the last ball to long-on for one.

Dhoni erred by giving Kohli the third over when two would have been enough and all his frontline bowlers having overs in their kitty.

Pathan back for a new spell and Malik steers it past point and gets two runs as Ashwin cleans up on the thirdman boundary before a single to long-on.

Akmal clips it to deep midwicket for two before pulling a short ball over the midwicket fence for the first six of the match. That was a poor ball from Irfan, short and sitting up to be hit, and Akmal didn't disappoint.

Dhoni decides to continue with Kohli despite having got through with his fifth bowler's quota between Yuvraj and Kohli.

The next ball is again a full toss but Malik can only hit it down to long-on for one and Umar Akmal gets one to midwicket.

Kohli's third over proving to be costly for India. Malik opens the face of the bat and steers it past the short thirdman fielder for a four before a single to long-on.

Two in two for Yuvraj as Pak are struggling at 49 for four in the 9th over.

New batsman Shoaib Malik gets off the mark with a single to long-on. Hafeez plays another dot ball before sprinting across for two runs.

Yuvraj bowls a long hop and Hafeez plays it over the fielder at deep midwicket who had come in a long way for a boundary.

That was the first boundary for Pakistan after a long wait for 42 deliveries.

Ashwin round the wicket to right-hander Hafeez, who defends the second ball, who clips the next ball to midwicket for two runs as Raina misfields in the circle.

Hafeez turns the ball fine on the leg side for a single before Jamshed defends the fifth ball.

The left-hander chips the last ball over the off-side and it falls safely to get Pakistan another two runs.

India have conceded just seven runs from the last two overs to check Pakistan's flying start.

Hafeez drives the next ball straight to the fielder at cover to bring Afridi on strike.

And Balaji gets the wicket of Afridi with the next ball. Afridi falls for the trap as he pulls the short delivery but holes out to Raina at deep midwicket.

Pathan starts with a slower ball and Afridi is deceived all ends up. Pathan then bowls it a bit wide and Afridi flashes at it and again he is beaten and is lucky not to have edge it.

Hafeez looking calm as ever, steering it to thirdman for one. Afridi decides to take on the long-on fielder as Pathan pitches one up and Yuvraj makes a good at long-on to give away two.

Afridi then looks to smash it through the off-side but not enough connection as Balaji misfields at mid-off to give away one.

Zaheer seems to have found his rhythm in his next over. Hafeez taps the first ball on the leg side and looks to bring Afridi back on strike but the non-striker is not interested at all.

Zaheer then bowls a short ball to Afridi who pulls it to deep midwicket for another single.

Nazir has another close shave. He gets an inside edge off Irfan Pathan that misses the stumps narrowly and goes for a four behind the stumps.

But Pathan gets his wicket off the next ball as Nazir walks across his stumps but misses the ball and is struck plumb in front of the stumps.

Pakistan have taken a gamble by promoting Shahid Afridi to number three and take advantage of the fielding restrictions.

Boom Boom Afridi off the mark in his customary style as he lofts a full ball back past the bowler for a boundary down the ground. Game on!!

Pathan bowls it a bit wide and Afridi flashes at it without any footwork and is lucky not to have edged it. The next ball is a bit wider and is rightly called a wide by the umpire.

Pathan once again bowls it wide and Afridi slaps it through the covers for a four as Pak race to 26 after two overs.

Imran Nazir and Mohammaz Hafeez will be the two openers for Pakistan, while Zaheer Khan will start proceedings with the ball for the Indians.

Virender Sehwag is standing at first slip as Zaheer starts off with a big wide on the off-side with the ball moving a great deal across Nazir.

Nazir strokes the next ball through the off-side as Yuvraj makes a good diving stop at covers to save a certain boundary and give just one.

Hafeez is off the mark with a single as he gets a thick edge to the thirdman region.

Nazir crashes the next ball, a bit wide, through the point region for the first boundary of the match.

Zaheer then bowls a wide down the leg side and Dhoni misses an easy take to give away five wides. Pak are off to a flier as 11 runs have come from the first three balls with Zaheer cracking under the early pressure.

Zaheer finally gets it on target, beating Nazir, who attempts to drive it through the offside, while he plays the next ball to the cover fielder.

But Zaheer misses his radar again, a wide down the leg side, and Dhoni misses again to give away an extra run.

The veteran pacer nearly redeems himself getting the edge off Nazir but Sehwag drops the chance at first slip.

Nazir got an outside edge trying to play on the leg side but Sehwag grassed it as he fell on his right.

So was it fair that Harbhajan Singh was dropped after that match-winning spell against England?

Rajneesh Gupta points out some figures to justify Harbhajan's axing.

"Harbhajan's bowling avg v Pak: 68.00 in T20Is (RPO 9.71),57.21 in ODIs,52.04 in Tests.Seems Dhoni is spot-on in dropping him," he writes on Twitter.

Virender Sehwag is back and India need him to fire with the bat to keep their hopes alive in the World Twenty20.

India have not won a single match in the Super Eights stage since winning the World T20 in 2007. It's time to break the jinx now!

Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez wins the toss and elects to bat against India in the Super Eights match at the World Twenty20 in Colombo, on Sunday.

India have left out their spinners Harbhajan Singh and Piyush Chawla, while bringing in dashing opener Virender Sehwag and pacer Lakshmipathy Balaji.

"We were also thinking of bowling first as we are playing with seven batsmen today," says India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni at the toss.

Pakistan, meanwhile, have named an unchanged squad that beat South Africa by two wickets.

Watson then flicks it through midwicket and picks up another two runs.

Peterson finally makes the breakthrough with the prized wicket of Watson. The right-hander looks for another big shot but ends up holing out to Parnell at long-on after a cracking innings of 70 from 47 balls.

The script changed completely in the final overs as SA hammered 39 runs from the last three overs after early wickets had hampered them early on.

And the extra delivery costs Australia as Behardien heaves it over long-on for a six.

The next ball is a dot ball again before Peterson drives to sweeper cover for one and Behardien drops it on the leg side for one.

By the time he finished, he looked like a right-hander playing a drive down the ground. He much he reminds us of his namesake, Kevin Pietersen, who is cooling his heels in the television studio as an expert for ESPN Star Sports.

Behardien fails to get runs from the next two balls before a single brings up SA's 100 in the 16th over.

Peterson once again uses the reverse sweep to good effect, chipping it between point and covers for another boundary.

He clips a short delivery to short fine leg region for one, while Amla gets a streaky boundary as the inside edge narrowly misses the stumps and goes behind the wicket for a four before picking up a single.

Australia captain George Bailey wins the toss and elects to bowl against South Africa in the Super Eights match at the World Twenty20 in Colombo, on Sunday.

South Africa captain AB de Villiers is unfazed at losing the toss, saying even he was looking to bat first and hopes the pitch dries under the sun, making batting a bit difficult in the second half.

Australia make one change to their team, bringing in an extra spinner in Xavier Doherty in place of all-rounder Dan Christian.

For South Africa, left-arm pacer Wayne Parnell replaces Albie Morkel.

Australia will look to seal their place in the semi-finals with a victory over South Africa in the Super Eights match at the World Twenty20 in Colombo, on Sunday.

Australia will start as favourites following their convincing nine-wicket victory against India in the previous encounter.

On the other hand, South Africa will be desperate to win and keep their hopes alive of making it to the last four. They went down to Pakistan by two wickets in a thrilling finish in their first game in the Super Eights.
