IPL updates: Chennai sneak past RCB in a thriller

Chennai Super Kings sneaked past Royal Challengers by 4 wickets off the last ball of the match. 

Requiring 13 runs off the last over, Jadeja started off with a maximum and a boundary, to give the hosts some hope off RP Singh. 

Morris took couple of crucial singles to ensure there is no dot ball. 

Requiring 2 runs off the last ball, Jadeja hit one straight to third man's hands only to see umpire's outstretched hand signalling a no-ball.

Dhoni looking to smoke the West Indian out of the park, got an outside edge and was caught by Arun Karthik.

Dwayne Bravo walks in and smokes Rampaul for a maximum. He follows it up with another lofted shot through the covers -- this time just a couple. 

Rampaul has the last laugh as he had Bravo caught plumb in front of the stumps for 8.

Dhoni smoked a massive six off Ravi Rampaul the previous over and then carted a boundary to signal his intentions. 

Vinay Kumar starts off with a slower one-- Dhoni could only get a single towards third man. 

Jadeja getting into the act now by smashing a boundary over mid off head. Jadeja then works one off his pads for a comfortable couple. 

Jadeja then creamed one through the covers for another couple. 

At the end of 18 overs CSK were 137-4, still requiring 29 runs off 12 balls.

Badri looking to play an inside out shot was caught brilliantly by Mayank Agarwal at deep cover.

Raina especially, who took a special liking to to Vinay Kumar's bowling smashing him for three boundaries in an over. 

Badri at the other end, smashed Dan Christian for a boundary through square-leg. 

RCB didn't help their cause much by dropping Badri when he was on one by RP Singh at third man.

A good length delivery from Rampaul as Vijay pokes at it, catching a fine edge back to the keeper Arun Karthik.

AB de Villiers' brilliant counter attacking cricket and Virat Kohli's half-century have taken RCB to 165-6 at the end of 20 overs. 

De Villiers was the star of the show smashing a 32-ball 64, which included eight boundaries and a six, while Kohli supported him well with 47-ball 58, which included two boundaries and two sixes. 

Chris Morris was the most successful bowler for Chennai Super Kings with figures of 3-40 from 4 overs.

Kohli looking to give the South African the charge, got a healthy edge to the Indian captain.

Nannes oversteps this time bowling to Kohli, who takes single --strike back to De Villiers on a free hit. 

De Villiers slogs -- get one. Kohli rounds up the over with a couple as RCB were 115-2 after 15 overs.

Kohli becomes the owner of the Orange Cap taking over from Dinesh Karthik.

And as we speak there is a loud appeal from the Chennai Super Kings fielder after Kohli gloved one to keeper MS Dhoni. Replays confirm that Kohli did indeed get a glove. 

But umpire is not moved, much to the dismay of the CSK fielders.

Mumbai register a huge 41-run victory over Pune Warriors to go top of the IPL standings with three victories from four matches.

Despite going for plenty, Dinda is still entrusted with the final over of the innings. Rohit has raced to his fifty from just 30 balls.

He finishes on 62 from 32 balls with three fours and five sixes to take Mumbai to a huge 183 for three in their 20 overs. Pollard made 19 from 14 balls.

Mumbai's batsmen hammered 68 runs in the last five overs, while losing just one wicket.

Amazingly, Bhuvneshwar was given only two overs, during which he conceded just 16 runs, while Yuvraj took one for 13 in two overs and Finch claimed one for 11 in two overs.

It's time for an all out attack now with just three overs remaining. Pollard pulls the second ball through square leg and then heaves it high over midwicket for his first six. Two balls later Rohit slices a full toss over point for a four. The last ball is smashed over long-off where Taylor tries to take it high over his head but it goes through his fingers for a maximum.

21 runs from Marsh's second over as Mumbai continue their attacking approach.

Rohit has raced to 43 from 26 balls and Pollard is batting on 13 from eight balls.

Pune decide to bring back Dinda despite two expensive overs. Rohit hits the first ball past point but Nayar comes up with a good diving save on the ropes to stop a certain boundary and give just two runs.

Sharma then clobbers over long-off for a six followed by another one through midwicket as Dinda oversteps to gift Mumbai a free hit but Rohit can't take advantage as the yorker beats him. Sharma then drives it through the covers for another couple followed by a single and Pollard takes one to end the over.

Dinda has been hit for 19 runs in that over and his figures now read 47 runs from three overs.

Mumbai have hit 45 runs from the last five overs. Rohit is batting on 33 from 24 balls.

Mitchell Marsh is brought into the attack and he strikes immediately. He claims the wicket of Karthik with his first delivery, getting him leg before wicket with the incoming delivery.

The in-form Karthik smashed 41 from 29 balls, with four fours and a six. He added 55 runs from 41 balls for the third wicket with Rohit to continue Mumbai's good start.

New batsman Kieron Pollard is off the mark with a single on the leg side following two dot balls and Sharma takes one from the last ball as Marsh gives just three runs in that over.

Tendulkar walks back after an aggressive innings of 44 from 29 balls, having hit seven fours and a six.

Yuvraj Singh comes into the attack in place of Sharma, who bowled two overs for 18 runs.

Yuvraj strikes with his first delivery, getting the wicket of Ponting who charged down the wicket but hit a wide delivery straight to Abhishek Nayar at point to fall for 14. The decision was referred to the third umpire, who confirmed that the catch was taken cleanly.

Ponting and Tendulkar gave Mumbai a good start, putting on 54 runs for the opening wicket in 7.1 overs.

The in-form Dinesh Karthik walks out to bat having hit three half-centuries in his first three matches of the tournament.

Tendulkar is all charged up today. He tries to force the first ball from Sharma through the off-side but it is stopped at extra cover. Tendulkar then chips one towards Yuvraj who fails to take a low catch and also lets it go through his legs for a boundary. Tendulkar then rubs more salt on Sharma's wounds by heaving the next ball over midwicket for a huge six followed by a single to end the over.

Mathews brings himself into the attack now. Ponting defends the first two balls before he takes a single to midwicket. Tendulkar is looking to be very aggressive today as he tries to hammer a wide delivery through but misses and then hits it to the fielder at midwicket. He gets a single from the last ball to retain strike. Just two runs from that over as Pune look to put a brake on the scoring.

Ponting is hit on the pads off the first ball and then he hits a full toss to the fielder. The third ball is short which Ponting pulls to deep midwicket for one and Tendulkar drives it to long-off for another single followed by another one for Ponting.

Tendulkar continues the boundary flow as he crashes the last ball down the ground past mid-on for a boundary.

He has raced to 23 from 13 balls with the help of five boundaries, while Ponting is on 11 from as many balls.

Ashok Dinda comes on from the pavilion end after that brief experiment with Finch and he starts with a wide delivery way outside the off-stump. Tendulkar then smashes him for four boundaries in a row to bring the crowd to their feet.

The first one is on the pads which Tendulkar flicks past a diving Bhuvneshwar at short fine leg, while hammering the next which is short and wide through the covers. Dinda strays wide as Tendulkar chips him over point and then drives the fourth ball past mid-off to make four fours in a row. He defends the last ball while letting the next ball go after deciding at the very last moment not to pull the short ball.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar starts with a good delivery that bounces a bit and comes in sharply which Ponting defends back to the bowler and hits the next to point. The next ball also comes in as Ponting reaches out for it but gets an inside edge which beats keeper Uthappa for a four but is beaten off the next ball as once again the ball comes in sharply.

Bhuvi then drops one short and Ponting is quick to rock back and pull it over midwicket for a thumping boundary and defends the last ball.

Tendulkar defends the next two balls before he tries to paddle but gets a leading edge which goes on the bounce back to the bowler. Mumbai Indians captain Ricky Ponting has won the toss and elected to bat against Pune Warriors in Mumbai, on Saturday.

There is a sea of blue at the Wankhede stadium with as many as 11,000 under privileged kids coming to watch the match as part of the Education for All programme undertaken by Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani.

Both teams have opted to retain their winning combination from the last match.

Mumbai Indians will be looking to continue their winning ways when they take on neighbours Pune Warriors in the 15th match of the Indian Premier League at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai, on Saturday.

Mumbai started the IPL with a narrow loss against Royal Challengers Bangalore before bouncing back with back to back victories against Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Daredevils.

On the other hand, Pune Warriors started with two straight losses before winning their last match against Rajasthan Royals for their first victory after 11 games.
