Ranchi ODI Live! India thrash England by seven wickets

A boundary off Finn by the Indian captain helps India reach the 150-run mark.

It is fitting that Dhoni (10 not out) completes a resounding Indian win, with a boundary off Finn, in front of his home fans.

India reach 157 for three to win by seven wickets with a whopping 131 balls left.

Kohli remains unbeaten on a magnificent 77 as India take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

Another six by Kohli, over midwicket again off Tredwell, helps raise the 50-run partnership for the third wicket. It has taken Yuvi and Virat just under seven overs to pile on the runs. 

Yuvraj (30) hits a couple of boundaries off Dernbach but is deceived by Tredwell. His 21-ball knock was inclusive of six boundaries and he helped Kohli put on 66 runs, off just eight overs, for the third wicket.

His dismissal brings MS Dhoni to the crease. The Indian captain gets a thunderous applause from his home fans. 

India 144 for three after 26 overs.

A single through midwicket off Tredwell helps Kohli complete 4,000 ODI runs. The 24-year-old is the second youngest batsman to achieve the feat, after the legendary Viv Richards. 

In the next over, a couple off Bresnan helps Kohli complete his 22nd ODI fifty. It is the young batsman's third half century against England. 

A boundary over midwicket followed by a couple, by Yuvraj, helps the home team reach the 100-run mark in the same over.

Kohli smashes a six off Tredwell over long on, in the latter's fourth over.

India cruising at 109 for two after 22 overs.

Tim Bresnan is handed the ball immediately after drinks, replacing Finn (8-0-38-1) in the 17th over. 

Gambhir hits his first ball through point for his fourth boundary. 

Tredwell strikes in his second over, having Gambhir (33) caught by Joe Root.

The left-hander's 53-ball knock was inclusive of four boundaries and he put on 67 runs for the second wicket with Kohli.

India 78 for two after 18 overs.

Finn continues with his sixth over and a boundary by Kohli, off the third ball, helps the home team get past the 50-run mark. 

The batsman gets another boundary off the next ball, a lucky shot that flies over the keeper. 

Another bounday by Kohli, in Finn's eighth over, helps raise the 50-run partnership for the second wicket.

James Tredwell is introduced into the attack in the 16th over, replacing Bresnan (4-2-11-0). He gives away just three runs.

Virat Kohli comes out to join Gambhir, and eases the pressure with three successive boundaries off Kohli. 

Tim Bresnan replaces Dernbach (3-0-20-0) in the attack in the eighth over and Kohli welcomes him with a boundary through cover.

Gautam Gambhir and Ajinkya Rahane open the batting for India. Four runs come off the first over.

Jade Dernbach to share the new ball. Gambhir hits the third ball past backward point to the fence.

However, Finn strikes early for England cleaning up Rahane's (0) stumps.

He ends with figures of three for 19.

It is the offie's third wicket of the innings. 

Suresh Raina also gets among the wickets, having Steven Finn (3) caught by Yuvraj.

The batting powerplay is taken in the 36th over. Seven runs come off Ashwin's first over, including a boundary, through point, by Bresnan.

Ishant replaces Jadeja (5-0-17-2) and strikes with his fourth ball, having Root (39) caught behind. 

Root's 57-ball knock was inclusive of four boundaries and put on 47 runs for the seventh wicket with Bresnan.

Four balls later, the bowler has Samit Patel (0) out leg before.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar ends his spell, his figures (10-2-40-1) making for an impressive read.

The quick wickets have forced England to go on the back foot. Root eases the pressure though with a couple of boundaries, one each of Ashwin and Shami. 

However, Ashwin has Morgan (10) caught by Yuvraj at backward point. A needless shot this, and the visitors lose a wicket at a wrong time. 

England 97 for four after 24 overs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar replaces Jadeja (1-0-4-0) and strikes second ball, having Bell (25) caught behind.

Bell's 43-ball knock was inclusive of three boundaries and he was dismissed just when he had looked to settle down. Dhoni's strategy of standing up to Kumar has worked. 

Joe Root and Eoin Morgan are the two new batsmen at the crease. 

England in trouble at 68 for three after 16 overs.

Kevin Pietersen comes out to join Bell at the crease. The latter, quite till now, opens up with a boundary past point off Bhuvneshwar.

Bell hits successive boundaries in the bowler's sixth over to ease the pressure for the visitors.

Ishant Sharma replaces Shami Ahmed (5-0-15-1) in the attack in the 12th over. Pietersen hits him for successive boundaries as 11 come off the over.

Ravindra Jadeja is introduced into the attack in the 14th over, Ishant being replaced after just one over. He concedes four runs first over.

Ishant replaces Kumar (7-1-32-0) at the other end. A great delivery has Pietersen (17) caught behind. The batsman appears to have not hit the ball though.

Pietersen and Bell had put on 44 runs for the second wicket.

Cook hits the second ball off Shami's second over and the second ball of Bhuvaneshwar's third over past cover for the first boundaries of the England innings.

Ian Bell gets off the mark, after 11 balls, with a single off Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

However, Shami provides India the opening wicket, in his fourth over, having Cook (17) out leg before.

The five-match series is tied at 1-1.

The home team is unchanged while the visitors have brought in Tim Bresnan to replace Chris Woakes.
