Rohit has been able to get the measure of Tredwell, who has troubled every other Indian batsmen right through the series. He makes room and steers the third ball past the point fielder for a boundary and two balls later punches it to sweeper cover for one to bring up the 50-run partnership from just 37 balls.

Virat Kohli is beaten off immediately as he Bresnan ges it to move away from the right-hander.

Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir will open the innings for India, while Steve Finn will bowl the first over.
The first ball moves away from Gambhir a great deal and is rightly called a wide. The second ball is closer to the batsman but again bounce and moves away as keeper Buttler collects it in front of first slip.
The third ball is short and wide as Gautam looks to cut it over point but misses and defends the next ball.
The fifth ball is full and right in the slot which Gambhir eases through the covers for a delightful boundary.
Will India find it easy to chase down 258 on this wicket in conditions which will get cooler and suit the English pacers a bit more?
Sunil Gavaskar, BBC Test Match Special, says: "India may have a mountain to climb here, I don't think chasing 258 will be easy."

Root was responsible for helping England cross the 250-run mark with his blazing innings of 57 from 45 balls, having hit eight fours and a six. And to think that Morgan and Patel were sent ahead of him to score quick runs but the youngster rose to the occasion in fine style.

Pietersen gets one from the next ball as Raina hits the stumps at the non-striker's end from mid-on but it gifts England an overthrow.
Root hits the next two balls to the fielders on the off-side before driving it to sweeper cover for one.
Another good over from Ishant, conceding just two singles.
With 10 overs to go, England are in danger of finishing less than 200.

The left-hander tried to chip it down the ground but failed to get enough distance and Yuvraj completed a good catch running back from mid-off.
After a poor start, Ashwin has now taken two wickets in two overs.

That was an absolute shocker from umpire Sudhir Asnani. Replays confirm the ball was pitched way outside the leg stump and struck him in front of the leg stump.
You need DRS to eliminate such howlers. DRS or not, you cannot have such umpires.
A lucky breakthrough for Ashwin and India as England lose their second wicket after Cook and KP had put on 95 runs in 22.1 overs for the second wicket.

Two balls later, Cook sweeps it through square leg where substitute fielder Rahane makes a full length dive but is unable to stop the boundary as his hand was touching the ropes as he pushed the ball back. That is a much needed boundary for England.
At the halfway stage, England are 97 for one in 25 overs with Cook on 57 (84 balls) and Pietersen on 27 (41 balls) with the duo having put on 60 runs from 15.2 overs so far.

A careless shot from Bell under the circumstances as England had weathered the early storm and were looking good to making the most of it in the next few overs.

Kumar then bowls a perfect outswinger to Cook, which pitches on middle stump and moves away, beating the left-hander as he attempts to defend it on the off-side. The next ball is again a wide outside the off-stump as Kumar is struggling to control the swing.

11:59 Meanwhile, it is very cool out in the middle in Mohali with temperatuees around 6 degrees Celsius. Not so long ago it was very foggy but with the sun coming out the visibility has improved but still it is very cold and everyone has their sweaters on at the ground.
"When we arrived at the ground we could barely see the stumps, but it cleared very quickly. It is a disappointing crowd at the moment, but maybe they will come along later," says Steve James, BBC Test Match Special.

India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has won the toss and elected to bowl against England in the fourth One-Day International in Mohali, on Wednesday.
India, who lead the five-match series 2-1, made one change to their team bringing in Rohit Sharma in place of the struggling Ajinkya Rahane.
England also made a change to their team, replacing wicketkeeper Craig Kieswetter with Jos Buttler.
The Punjab Cricket Association stadium was covered by thick fog in the morning before the sun started to break through. The maximum temperature is hovering around 12-13 degrees Celsius and the fast bowlers will enjoy the conditions especially in the first half of the match.
