England 257-7 (50 overs) vs India

Ahmed to bowl the final over of the innings. Tredwell throws his bat at the first delivery and it is fielded by sweeper cover for one.

Root gives Ahmed the charge who drops it short but the youngster still manages to pull it over square leg for a boundary to bring up his maiden ODI half-century in style from 43 balls.

Root then thumps the next ball back past the bowler for another boundary.

Left-hander Tredwell then cracks it past point for the third boundary of the over.

Tredwell misses the last ball, which is a good yorker, but the batsmen still steal a quick bye.

England finish on a healthy 257 for seven in their 50 overs.

Root was responsible for helping England cross the 250-run mark with his blazing innings of 57 from 45 balls, having hit eight fours and a six. And to think that Morgan and Patel were sent ahead of him to score quick runs but the youngster rose to the occasion in fine style.
