Sri Lanka's batsmen smashed 66 runs from the last five overs to take control. After a huge opening stand of 213 runs, Sri Lanka turned it on towards the end, hammering 169 runs from the last 15 overs to put themselves in a dominant position at the halfway stage.

The Indian bowling was complete shambles. Ahmed was hit for 68 runs in 10 overs, while Yadav gave away 64 runs in eight overs and Ishant conceded 68 runs in nine overs.

The spinners were equally ineffective as Ashwin took one for 67, while Jadeja went for 55 runs in nine overs.

Yadav tries to bowl a yorker but it ends up as a low full toss which Tharanga hits over point for a six. Yadav then bowls a big wide down the leg side which beats Karthik for five wides as India's bowlers continue to struggle.

Tharanga cuts a wide delivery past point for a boundary before steering it to short thirdman for a single to race to 164 from 155 balls.

The last ball is in the slot and Mathews lofts it over the covers for a boundary to get 22 runs from the 49th over.

A disappointing performance with the ball by Yadav, who has been smashed for 65 runs in eight overs.

The inexperienced Ahmed to bowl the last over. Tharanga hits a full toss behind point for two runs and three balls later he makes room and hits another full toss over the covers for a six.

Tharanga finishes unbeaten on a splendid innings of 174 from 159 balls, hitting 19 fours and three sixes to lift SL to a huge 348 for one in their 50 overs.

Mathews played a nice cameo at the end, slamming 44 from 29 balls, as the duo added 135 runs from 11.2 overs to destroy the Indian bowling attack.

Ahmed, who was hit for 17 runs his previous over, is back for another spell. Tharanga takes a risky single from the first ball as Kohli misses the direct hit before Mathews takes one to long-on.

Tharanga hits a full toss through midwicket for two runs before he slams the next ball in the same region for a boundary. He takes a single from the last ball to bring up SL's 300.

Ishant starts with a short ball which Tharanga pulls over midwicket for a four to take his score to 148. He takes two runs on the off-side to bring up his 150 from as many balls. Mathews clips the last ball through midwicket for a four to make it 13 runs from the over.

Mathews makes room and hammers Ashwin through the covers for a boundary before taking a single.

Tharanga takes a single to point to move to 134, his highest score in ODIs. Eight runs from the over as SL reach 281 for one in 45 overs.

Ishant replaces Jadeja after he was hit for 15 runs in his previous over. He bowls a tidy over giving away just six runs.

Ashwin bowling from round the wicket. Two singles from the first two balls before Mathews misses the reverse sweep and he then gives Ashwin the charge but is beaten in the flight as it hits his pad.

He flicks the next ball on the leg side before Tharanga pulls a short ball in the gap through midwicket where Raina makes a full length dive but fails to stop the boundary.

Tharanga is looking quite dangerous on 125 from 135 balls, having hit 16 fours already, while Mathews is on 10 from 11 balls.

Mathews decides to join the party as he slog sweeps Jadeja over midwicket for a huge six to bring up the 50-run partnership for the second wicket from 27 balls.

Tharanga ends the over with a one-handed six as he comes down the track and goes through with the shot over midwicket despite not getting to the pitch.

15 runs from the over as SL continue to prosper to reach 273 for one in 44 overs.

Jadeja comes into the attack now, replacing Ashwin, who has taken one for 50 in eight overs.

Three singles from the first three balls before Tharanga plays with the turn and lofts it over midwicket for a four.

Jayawardene walks back after a fine innings of 107 from 112 balls, hitting nine fours and two sixes.

The veteran batsman has put Sri Lanka on the course for a huge total as he added 213 runs in 38.4 overs for the opening wicket with Tharanga.

The Batting Powerplay has gone to script for SL, who hit 47 runs in the five overs while losing a wicket.

India captain Virat Kohli has won the toss and elected to bowl against Sri Lanka in the third match of the tri-nation series in Jamaica, on Tuesday.

India are missing regular captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is ruled out of the series with a hamstring injury. Murali Vijay comes into the team in his place and will bat in the middle order, while Shami Ahmed replaces fellow pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Sri Lanka have left out both Ajantha Mendis and Jeevan Mendis, bringing in opener Kusal Perera and off-spinner Sachithra Senanayake.
