Cricket Updates: Kohli hundred as India beat Zim by 6 wkts

Riding high in Virat Kohli's century and Ambati Rayudu's half-century, India have registered a comprehensive six wickets win over Zimbabwe in the fist One-day International here in Harare. 

Kohli who came in at the fall of Shikhar Dhawan, took his time in the middle before opening up.

He got good support from Ambati Rayudu, who playing his first One-day smashed a clinical half-century.

The duo added 159 runs for third wicket to ensure India stay on track for victory. 

Rayudu, fittingly ended the game with a boundary off Mutombodzi.

For Zimbabwe, Prosper Utseya was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2-34.

Prosper Utseya twin strikes that of Virat Kohli and then Suresh Raina have delayed the inevitable for Zimbabwe. 

Kohli, after completing his century wanted to finish off the game in a hurry was caught at long on by Sibanda for 115.

Raina, then was on his way back after giving a simple catch to Raza at short cover. 

India need 13 runs from 48 balls.

Ambati Rayudu, playing is first ODI, smashed a brilliant 74-ball half-century as India inched closer to the target.

Virat Kohli then at the other end, smashed his 15th ODI hundred to put India in cruise control in the match.

India need 14 runs from 54 balls to register a comprehensive win.

Riding high on Kohli's half-century and impressive Rayudu, India have gained control of the match.

Zimbabwe bowlers have made little impact as the batsmen are quite happy to milk the bowling around to keep India in the hunt. 

The duo have run well in between wickets, while collecting the odd boundary. 

Although making his debut, but Rayudu has looked comfortable in the middle. The duo have added 87-runs for the fourth wicket. 

India at the end of 32 overs were 145-2. Kohli is on 66, while Rayudu is on 35. The visitors need 83 runs from 108 balls.

Virat Kohli smashed a 57-ball half-century to put India in firm control in the chase. 

Kohli, who came in after Shikhar Dhawan departed early in the chase, used his wrists to good effect to collect boundaries. 

He forged a good partnership with Rohit Sharma, before Rohit was dismissed for 20.

Kohli got good support from Rayudu as the duo has put on 58 runs for the fourth wicket so far. 

Kohli reached the landmark with a single off Prosper Utseya in the 25th over. 

At the end of 26 overs India were 116-2. Kohli is on 52, while Rayudu is on 20.

Skipper Virat Kohli have steadied the ship somewhat in company of Ambati Rayudu. 

Kohli has not allowed Zimbabwe bowlers to dominate and have been comfortable in getting boundaries and singles at will. 

Rayudu, who is making his debut, is taking his time in the middle. 

At the end of 21 overs India were 95-2. Kohli is on 40, while Rayudu is on 11. 

India still need 134 runs from 29 overs.

Rohit Sharma and skipper Virat Kohli look to steady Indian innings after they lost Shikhar Dhawan early in the chase.

Rohit seemed to take his time in the middle, looking to get in and looks like he is eager to play a long innings.

Kohli has been crisp with his timing, with his trademark flicks and shot through the leg side.

But as we speak Elton Chigumbura removes Rohit for 20. A pitched up delivery from Chigumbura as Rohit went for an expansive drive and was caught by keeper Brendon Taylor.   

At the end of 13 overs, India were 57-2. Kohli is on 16 and he is joined in by Ambati Rayudu in the middle.

Kyle Jarvis strikes a crucial blow as he removes dangerous Shikhar Dhawan for 17.

Jarvis who had extracted good pace from the pitch, hurried Dhawan and was caught pulling at deep fine leg by Waller.

At the end of 7 overs India was 28-1. Rohit Sharma is on 7 and is joined by skipper Virat Kohli who is on 2.

Indian openers are off to a sedate start in the chase of 229 for victory.

Zimbabwe bowlers Kyle Jarvis and Tendai Chatara have bowled in good areas, with couple of them beating the bat.

With the new ball moving around, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, preferred dealing in singles, with Rohit hitting the only boundary off the innings. 

At the end of 4 overs India was 11-0.

A fighting 82 from Pakistan-born Sikander Raza and late blitz from Elton Chigumbura enabled Zimbabwe post 228-7.

Zimbabwe's innings seemed to have lost steam, after quick strikes in the middle overs, but then Chigumbura provided the late flourish.

Raza and Vusi Sibanda initially were off to a cautious start, putting 72 runs for the opening wicket.

But once Sibanda was dismissed by Amit Mishra, Zimbabwe's innings lost steam. 

But Chigumbura stroked a 34-ball 43 to help Zimbabwe cross the 200-run mark. 

For India, Amit Mishra was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-43.

 Sikander Raza finally departs after a fighting 82. With six overs to go, Raza was trying to smash Amit Mishra out of the park but was done in by a googly by leg-spinner.

Elton Chigumbura managed to get couple of boundaries off Vinay Kumar as Zimbabwe looked to raise the tempo. 

At the end of 45 overs, Zimbabwe were 191-6.

Jaydev Unadkat strikes a crucial blow as he removes Brendon Taylor for 12.

Taylor, who looking to up the tempo succumbed to a rather ordinary delivery from Unadkat. A short ball from the left-armer as Taylor was caught in two minds -- whether to pull or leave it. 

Taylor eventually ended up giving a simple catch to Suresh Raina at square leg. 

Mohammad Shami then at the other end had Waller walking back after he was castled for 2.

Zimbabwe were 166-4 in 40.1 overs.

Amit Mishra strikes once again as he removes Hamilton Masakadza for 11.

Masakadza looking to up the tempo, tried to slog one straight over bowler's head but was done-in by a googly from the leg-spinner as the ball hits middle stump. 

Zimbabwe were 120-3 after 34 overs.

Sikander Raza butt stroked a fighting half-century as Zimbabwe continue to struggle for momentum. 

Zimbabwe lost their second wicket in Shawn Williams after he was clean bowled by Suresh Raina for 15. 

Williams, was done in by a straighter one from Raina as the ballslipped between bat and pads to hit the middle and off stump. 

Raza meanwhile completed his half-century with a hit towards extra cover off Amit Mishra.

At the end of 32 overs Zimbabwe were 107-2. Raza is on 50 and is joined in the middle by Hamilton Masakadza, who is yet to open his account.

Openers Vusi Sibanda and Sikander Butt have made a slow but steady start for Zimbabwe.

Indian pacers kept things tight, but have failed to get any get any breakthrough. 

Indian spinner too managed to keep things tight. Ravindra Jadeja breezed through his six overs so far giving just 23 runs.

But it was Amit Mishra, who has just started his spell, who provided the breakthrough for India. 

Mishra had Sibanda walking back to the pavillion after he was trapped right in front of his stumps. Sibanda made 34 with three hits to the fence.

Zimbabwe were 72-1 after 22 overs. Raza is on 31, while Shaun Williams is yet to open his account.

Ravindra Jadeja to continue as Raza goes on the backfoot and defends it. 

Jadeja is keeping things tight as he is not giving batsmen any width to. 

But as we speak Raza helps himself with a boundary with dab towards legside. 

A dot to round off the over as Zimbabwe were 39-0. Raza is on 18, while Sibanda is on 17.

Indian new ball bowlers Vinay Kumar and Mohammad Shami have utilised the early morning conditions well have been tight in their opening spell.

Vinay Kumar especially, who hasn't given anything away in his first four overs. 

Shami on the other hand has been troubling the batsmen with his swing, with Raza the only batsmen to get a boundary. 

At the end of 7 overs Zimbabwe were 16-0. Sibanda is on 4, while Raza is on 11.

Vusi Sibanda and Sikander Raza Butt walk out in the middle for Zimbabwe as Vinay Kumar will open the proceedings for India. 

First up is a pitched up delivery from Vinay -- left alone by Sibanda. 

Vinay is getting prodigious swing here as Sibanda is more than happy to see off the first over. 

Vinay keeps the things tight in the maiden over as India start off with a maiden.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli has won the toss and invited Zimbabwe to bat first on a sunny day here at Harare. 

Ambati Rayudu and Jaydev Undakat will be making their ODI debut today on a dry pitch. 

Zimbabwe skipper Brendon Taylor too reckons that he too would have liked to bowl first on a fresh pitch.
