Bopara gets two runs from that mishit followed by a single. Bresnan misess the pull and steals a quick single.
Bopara slams the fifth ball powerfully down the ground beating the fielder at long-off for a boundary. The last ball is a slow bouncer which Bopara pulls and it goes on the bounce to deep midwicket for one.
England finish on 269 for six in their 50 overs.
Bopara played a gem of an innings, hitting 46 from 37 balls with the help of three fours and a six. Bresnan gave him good support to score 19 from 20 balls as the duo added 56 runs from 41 balls to provide the late boost for England.
England hit 51 runs from the last five overs as Australia's bowlers lost the ploy in the final few overs.

England captain Alastair Cook has won the toss and elected to bat against Australia in the Group A match of the ICC Champions Trophy, in Birmingham, on Saturday.
Off-spinner Graeme Swann misses out because of injury when pacer Steven Finn has been left out. James Tredwell comes in for Swann, while England bolster their batting by including all-rounder Ravi Bopara.
Australia are without captain Michael Clarke which means George Bailey will lead the side. They have retained the same team which was beaten by India in the warm-up match.
