West Indies won the toss and invited South Africa to bat first in their rain-affected ICC Champions Trophy match at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.

"With this weather it is better to know what to chase," reasoned captain Dwayne Bravo. His opposite number, AB de Villiers, didn't seem too perturbed with the toss loss.

"Probably would have but am not too fussy about the toss," he said.

It will be a 36 overs-a-side game, with one bowler allowed to bowl eight overs and other seven.

Heavy rains at Sophia Gardens has ensured one thing, we won't get to see a full match.

The South Africa vs West Indies match will at most be a 40-over affair, provided it starts soon.

But the bad news is, after a few minutes of sunlight, the drizzle is back.
15:23
South Africa and West Indies have a victory and loss each from two games.

Both need to win today's match in order to progress to the semi-finals from Group B along with India.

If the match is washed out, South Africa will go through to the semi-finals by virtue of a better net run-rate.
