Cricket updates! India thrash Sri Lanka in Cardiff to reach final

Suresh Raina (7 not out) ends it in style, smashing Malinga to the fence. 

India win by eight wickets, with a whopping 15 overs to spare, to set up a final meeting with hosts England on Sunday. 

Virat Kohli remains unbeaten on a well-made 58, his 64-ball knock inclusive of four hits to the fence and one over it.

A boundary off Kulasekara helps Dhawan reach a well-deserved half century, his second in ODIs.

Jeevan Mendis into the attack in the 30th over but he can do little to help his side, going for 11 runs in his first over. However, he has Dhawan (68) stumped in his second over. 

Dhawan's 91-ball knock was inclusive of six boundaries and a six and he added 65 runs for the second wicket with Kohli, apart from his opening stand with Rohit.

Virat Kohli joins Dhawan at the crease. Rangana Herath replaces Thisara Perera (5-0-23-0) in the attack.

A number of protestors also walk up to the field, disturbing play. This has happened a couple of times in the day.

India reach the 100-run mark in the 23rd over, courtesy a Dhawan single.

Dhawan and Sharma add 77 runs for the opening wicket before captain Angelo Mathews provides Sri Lanka with the breakthrough in the 17th over, getting past the latter's defence. 

Sharma's 50-ball 33 included four boundaries.

Dhawan and Sharma are doing well to see out the new ball. Dhawan eases the pressure with a six over third man off Malinga.

Nuwan Kulasekara takes the new ball for Sri Lanka while it will be Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan opening the batting for India. Rohit finds a boundary off the fourth ball.

Lasith Maling bowls with the second new ball. Dhawan hits the fourth ball past cover for his first boundary.

Ashwin has Mathews (51) caught by Bhuvneshwar Kumar at cover in his eighth over. The Sri Lankan captain's 89-ball knock contained one boundary and a six. However, it was an important innings from his team's perspective. 

Ishant gets a third wicket when he has Thisara Perera (0) caught by Shikhar Dhawan.

Ashwin strikes again in his ninth over, cleaning up Nuwan Kulasekara (1), and has Jeevan Mendis (25) stumped in his final over to finish with figures of three for 48.

Sri Lanka manage just 181 for eight in their 50 overs. Dilshan remains unbeaten on 18 and Malinga on seven.

Umesh Yadav replaces Jadeja in the attack in the 43rd over and gives away eight runs, including a boundary to Mathews.

Ishant replaces him in the 45th over, and a boundary to fine leg by Mendis off his first ball helps Sri Lanka reach the 150-run mark. Mathews reaches his 14th ODI fifty, his third against India in the over.

The batting powerplay yields Sri Lanka a paltry 12 runs at the cost of Jayawardene's wicket.

Jadeja ends his spell with impressive figures of one for 33.

Jadeja finally provides India with a fourth wicket, getting through Jayawardene's (38) defence. 

Jayawardene's 63-ball knock was inclusive of three boundaries and he helped Mathews add 78 runs (off 18.1 overs) in an important fourth-wicket partnership.

Jeevan Mendis comes out in the middle.

A single by Jayawardene, off Dhoni, helps raise the 50-run partnership for the fourth wicket. 

But Jadeja strikes soon after, having Mathews out leg before. The batsman opts for a review and gets the decision overturned.

R Ashwin replaces Dhoni (4-0-17-0) in the attack in the 32nd over and Sri Lanka reach the 100-run mark in the same, courtesy five wides.

Sri Lanka reach the 50-run mark in the 21st over, courtesy three runs off Mathews' blade (off Yadav).

Mathews eases the pressure further with a six off Ishant over long-on.  

Ravindra Jadeja replaces Yadav (7-2-22-0) in the attack in the 23rd over.

And surprise, MS Dhoni replaces Ishant (6-1-18-2) in the attack in the 24th over. The captain's first three overs cost his team 11 runs but he almost gets Jayawardene out.

The umpire gives a leg before decision only to change it following a review.

Ishant strikes for a second time in the last ball of his fourth over, having Kumar Sangakkara (17) caught by Raina at second slip. 

The Sri Lankan captain took 44 balls for what was an excruciatingly painful innings. 

Kumar (9-2-18-1) is replaced by Yadav in the 19th over. Don't understand what's the logic behind this.

Ishant strikes in his third over, having Thirimanne (7) caught by Raina. 

Thirimanne's 31-ball knock included a boundary and he helped his captain add 19 runs in an excruciatingly slow second wicket partnership. 

Mahela Jayawardene comes out to join Sangakkara.

Kumar Sangakkara has been forced to come in earlier than expected yet again. 

Dilshan eases the pressure with a couple of boundaries in Yadav's second over. However, Dilshan (12) has hurt himself while hitting a shot and is walking off the field. 

Lahiru Thirimanne joins his captain at the crease. The scoring rate is low at the moment.

Kusal Perera and Tillekeratne Dilshan open the batting for Sri Lanka and it will be Bhuvneshwar Kumar first up for India. Perera hits the fifth ball to the square leg fence, the lone scoring shot in the over. 

Umesh Yadav to bowl with the second new ball. He gives away only a single. Kumar provides India the first breakthrough in his second over having Perera (4) caught by Suresh Raina at second slip.

India has won the toss and expectedly invited Sri Lanka to bat first in their ICC Champions Trophy semi-final at Sophia Gardens. 

Team India is unchanged while Sri Lanka have made two changes, Dinesh Chandimal and Shaminda Eranga making way for Jeevan Mendis and Thisara Perera.

The start of the ICC Champions Trophy semifinal match between India and Sri Lanka has been delayed due to a wet outfield.

Incessant rain left the Sophia Gardens outfield wet, delaying the toss. The play is supposed to start 11 am local time.

There is no reserve day in the schedule for any of the games in this tournament and if the match is washed out, India will go through to the final as they topped their group.
