The Batting Powerplay starts as Sri Lanka hand the ball to leg-spinner Jeevan Mendis, who starts with a maiden over to Samuels.

Bravo sweeps Herath through the leg side for a boundary to take West Indies past the 200-run mark in the 36th over.

Samuels comes down the track to Mendis and lofts him over wide long-on for a six to level scores. He takes a single from the fifth ball to give West Indies a comfortable six-wicket victory with 12.1 overs to spare which helps them pocket a bonus point.

Captain Dwayne Bravo gets off the mark in some style as he flicks Herath over midwicket for a boundary.

After 35 overs, West Indies are 198 for four, with 11 needed for victory.

Kieron Pollard is unlucky to be given out LBW as he comes down the track to Kulasekara and is hit high on the pads but Trinidad umpire Joe Wilson has put his finger up much to the shock of everyone.

Pollard walks back disappointed for a duck as West Indies have now lost their last three wickets for 12 runs in the space of 16 deliveries.

Bravo smashes a wide delivery through the covers for his fourth boundary and Marlon Samuels edges one for a boundary past the wicketkeeper to get off the mark.

But a misunderstanding between the two batsmen results in Bravo losing his wicket to a run out after scoring a fluent 27 from 30 balls.

Mendis drops short and Gayle needs no second invitation as he pulls it over the leg side for his seventh six. But he falls two balls later as he tries to slog sweep it on the leg side but ends up skying a high catch which is held by Chandimal.

Gayle walks back to a huge ovation from his home crowd after a cracking innings of 109 from 100 balls, laced with nine fours and seven sixes.

Gayle nearly throws it away after getting his century. He tries to loft Mendis on the off-side but gets a thick outside edge which falls safely for a single as just two runs come from that over.

Kulasekara bowls another tight over, giving away two runs as WI reach 172 for one in 30 overs, with 37 needed from 10 overs to get the bonus point.

Malinga bowling a series of yorkers to Gayle, who digs out the third one on the leg side for a single. Darren Bravo makes most of some width as he smashes it through the covers for his second four.

Gayle turns Mendis on the leg side for a single to move to 99. Mendis then bowls a big wide down the leg side for five wides before Bravo plays out the rest of the over.

Gayle brings up his 100 from the next over with a quick single to mid-off, from just 89 balls, having hit nine fours and six sixes.

Malinga comes back but West Indies play him carefully to get six runs from his over. In the next over, Gayle clips Mendis through square leg for a four to move to 96 and Bravo steers the last ball past the slip fielder for another four to get 10 runs from that over.

At the halfway stage, West Indies are sitting pretty on 151 for one, with 58 needed from 25 overs for victory. They need to get those runs within 40 overs to claim a bonus point.

Kulasekara is back as Gayle steers the first ball past the point fielder for a four to take his score to 78.

Gayle smashes a full delivery powerfully back past Herath, who can only watch it speed through his leg for a four. The next ball is slammed over his head for a powerful flat six that takes Gayle into the 90s. He is on 91 from 74 balls, having hit eight fours and six sixes so far.

Charles on the attack as he hits Herath over long-off for his second six. But Herath gets revenge from the next ball as Charles top edges the slog sweep and is caught on the leg side after scoring 29 from 58 balls. He gave Gayle good support as the duo put on 115 runs from 122 balls the opening wicket.

Charles finally decides he has enough. He steps down the track to Mendis and lofts him over long-on for a six, his first boundary hit off the 45th ball he faced to take his score to 14.

Mendis bowls a wide down the leg side plus two extra runs as keeper Sangakkara fails to collect it. 12 runs from the over as WI reach 82 for no loss after 16 overs.

Gayle in complete control. He heaves a short ball from Mathews over midwicket for a boundary and two balls later he steps and lofts it over the off-side for a couple.

Left-arm spinner Rangana Herath comes into the attack now. Charles looking to change gears as he makes room and lofts it over mid-on for a boundary followed by a single.

In the next over, he slams Mathews to deep midwicket for a single and Gayle taps it down to long-on for one to bring up the 100 for West Indies.

The left-hander then lofted Mathews for a huge six down the ground as WI raced to 109 for no loss after 20 overs.

Angelo Mathews comes into the attack now. Charles takes a single from the third ball to the leg side and Gayle takes one from the fifth ball as just two runs come from that over.

Gayle looks to pull a short ball from Malinga but gets a top edge which flies over the keeper for a six behind the wickets. The next ball is a fast swinging yorker on the toes which Gayle somehow keeps out. What a superb contest between the two players! The last ball is again a yorker which Gayle digs out on the off-side for one.

Mathews concedes just three singles in the next over before Malinga is taken off and Mendis brought in his place. West Indies milk him for three singles in his fourth over as Charles is lucky to survive a close shout for LBW with replays showing he was struck on the middle and the ball set to hit the leg stump.

Gayle tries to hit Mathews down the ground but gets an inside edge which goes for a boundary through the vacant fine leg region to bring up his fifty from 47 balls.

West Indies in complete control at 70 for no loss in 15 overs, with 139 needed from 35 overs for victory.

While Gayle is looking in good knock, Charles is struggling to get going. He can pick just a single from Mendis's third over and his score is now four from 25 balls.

Malinga comes back as Gayle slams the last ball of his over for a boundary through the covers.

West Indies are looking comfortable on 48 for no loss after 10 overs with Gayle racing to 37 from 30 balls and Charles on five from the same number of deliveries.

Charles (2) gets a lifeline as captain Mathews puts down a straightforward chance at midwicket off Kulasekara, who concedes just two singles in that over.

Gayle can't resist the temptation for too long. He lofts Mendis back over his head for the first six of the innings and then takes a single to the covers.

Gayle on the charge now as he hoists Kulasekara over mid-on for a boundary and three balls later he flicks it high over midwicket for another maximum.

Gayle on fire at the moment. He lofts the last ball over mid-off and it carries all the way for the second six of the over to race to 33 from 29 balls, having hit three fours and three sixes.

Kulasekara goes for 16 runs in that over as WI race to 41 for no loss after eight overs.

Gayle looking in good touch. Malinga drifts on the pads and the left-hander flicks it through the square leg region for his second boundary. Two balls later wicketkeeper Sangakkara is done in by one that keeps low and it goes through between his legs for four byes.

Charles tries to heave Kulasekara through the leg side but misses before he defends the next one. He blocks the rest of the over as Kulasekara bowls the first maiden of the innings.

Sri Lanka introduce spin in the form of Ajantha Mendis, who concedes just two singles in his first over as WI reach 16 for no loss after five overs.

Lasith Malinga to bowl the first over for Sri Lanka, who are looking for a few early wickets including the one of dangerman Chris Gayle.

Gayle gets off the mark with a quick single on the leg side from the first ball of the innings. Johnson Charles watchfully plays out the rest of the over as five runs come from the first over.

Gayle welcomes Nuwan Kulasekara in some style as he leans forward and drives a full delivery through the covers for a boundary. He is quite watchful and defends the rest of the over.
