2nd Test Live! India ends Day II on 311-1, leads by 74

Scorecard: 

India ends Day Two comfortably-placed at 311 for one (after 93 overs), an overall lead of 74 runs with nine of their first innings wickets intact, and three days left. 

Cheteshwar Pujara is unbeaten on 162 and Murali Vijay on 129, the two having put on 294 runs for the second wicket. 

It is a lost cause for Australia for sure.

Australia has taken the new ball and David Warner will bowl with it.

Pujara gets three boundaries off his over. The batsman proceeds to whack a six over fine leg off Siddle, to get past the 150-run mark in style.

Henriques is back, replacing Maxwell. No respite though.

Pujara hits the third ball to the fence, helping raise the 200-run partnership for the second wicket. 

Vijay hits Doherty for a boundary, his 13th, to complete his second Test hundred, the first having also come against Australia. He celebrates the same with another boundary, the latter helping India take the lead.

India 253 for one after 79 overs.

Maxwell replaces Doherty (2-0-10-0) in the attack in the 69th over. Australia desperately need a wicket here. 

Doherty replaces Henriques (3-1-11-0). A six over deep-midwicket by Vijay, in Maxwell's 10th over, helps India get past the 200-run mark. 

A couple by Pujara in the same over helped Pujara complete a fourth Test hundred.

Unable to find a breakthrough, Australia resort to a fifth bowler, Glenn Maxwell replacing Henriques (2nd spell, 4-1-10-0) in the attack in the 47th ove. 

A boundary in his third over helps Pujara complete his second Test fifty, besides helping raise the 100-run partnership for the second wicket.

India 125 for one after 52 overs.

Xavier Doherty replaces Siddle (2nd spell, 5-0-17-0) in the attack in the 42nd over and in just his second ball, Vijay steps out of his ground to hit thee ball over mid-off for a six. 

The shot helps the opener complete a third Test fifty and helps raise the Indian 100 as well.

India 103 for one after 42 overs.

A boundary by Pujara, in the 35th over (bowled by Pattinson), helped raise the 50-run partnership for the second wicket. 

Pujara also gets boundaries in the last two balls of the over.

The home team has managed only 35 runs in their 21 overs. 

Xavier Doherty is introduced into the attack for the first time, in the 22nd over, replacing Pattinson (8-4-11-0). He concedes four runs in his first while his second is a maiden. 

David Warner hits the stumps but Pujara has made his ground. Vijay comes out of his crease and hits a Doherty delivery to the boundary to reinvigorate the crowd. The batsman hits another boundary in Pattionson's next over, the shot through cover helping the home team get past the 50-run mark.

India 54 for one at lunch (after 30 overs).

Pujara gets off the mark with a boundary in front of square leg off Siddle. 

The first bowling change, Moises Henriques replaces Pattinson (6-3-9-0) in the attack in the 13th over. It's a maiden.

Pattinson, meanwhile, replaces Siddle (8-2-20-1) in the attack in the 18th over.

Australia do have an early breakthrough.

James Pattinson continues, Vijay with great difficulty guides his third ball past gully for the first boundary of the day. 

It's a Sunday, and expectedly there is a huge turnout in the stadium. Looking at the start made by the Aussie bowlers the crowd is gonna have a good time.
