16:04   2nd Test Live! Ashwin's strikes puts India in command

Phillip Hughes lasts for just nine balls, and doesn't bother the scorers, sweeping an Ashwin delivery onto his stumps.   

The visitors lose their second wicket at the same score where they had lost their first. 

Australia 56 for two after 24 overs.
15:49   2nd Test Live! Ashwin provides India the breakthrough

Kumar is unlucky for a second time as Dhoni puts down Cowan (yet to score).

Cowan gets off the mark with a single off Ashwin, off the 29th ball he faced. Three balls later, he gets his first boundary, off Kumar.

Harbhajan Singh replaces Kumar (6-4-7-0) in the attack in the 13th over. Cowan welcomes him with a boundary. 

Warner hits a six over Ashwin's head to raise the Australian fifty in style, in the 16th over.

Ashwin has the last laugh though, cleaning up Warner (26) in his 10th over.

Australia 56 for one after 20 overs.
14:56   2nd Test Live! Australia get off to a steady start

David Warner and Ed Cowan open the batting. Bhuvneshwar Kumar's first over is a maiden. 

R Ashiwn to share the second new ball and Warner hits him for three boundaries. 

Kumar is unlucky in his third over as Kohli puts down Warner (on 13) at gully.

Australia 19 without loss after six overs.

Tea has been extended. 

A boundary by Bhuvneswar Kumar, off Doherty, helps the home team get past the 500-run mark.

Doherty cleans up Kumar (10) for his third wicket and brings an end to the Australian ordeal.

India 503 all out after 154.1 overs, a lead of 266 runs.

Scorecard:

R Ashwin is dropped by Ed Cowan at forward short leg off the first ball he faces. However, he survives just four balls before ensuring Doherty his first wicket, Phillip Hughes taking the catch at gully.

Harbhajan Singh doesn't bother the scorers, hitting straight to Maxwell at mid-off to give Doherty his second wicket. 

A brilliant catch by Cowan at backward short leg ends Kohli's (34) stay at the crease, and gives Maxwell his fourth wicket. 

India 493 for nine after 151 overs, a lead of 256 runs.

Scorecard:

Kohli, the subdued partner when Dhoni was at the crease, has opened up after his captain's dismissal.

Ravindra Jadeja (10) also opens up, first with a boundary off Maxwell, and then a six over long-off of the bowler. 

However, the bowler has the last laugh, catching Jadeja off his own bowling, his third wicket. 

India 485 for five after 146 overs.

Scorecard:

Successive boundaries off Maxwell, by Dhoni, helps India get past the 450-run mark and also raises the 50-run partnership for the fifth wicket, with the Indian captain contributing as many as 43. 

However, the Indian captain is dismissed soon after, Maxwell having him caught by Doherty. He made 44. 

India 460 for five after 140 overs. 
13:00   2nd Test Live! Dhoni, Kohli take India's lead past 200
Scorecard:

MS Dhoni has come out to join Virat Kohli at the crease. 

He begins with three successive boundaries off Doherty, clearly underlining his intent.

Peter Siddle replaces Pattinson (29-11-80-2) in the attack in the 129th over. A boundary off his fourth over by Dhoni helps extend the home team's lead to 200 runs.

The Indian captain is scoring at more than a run a ball.

Welcome back after lunch. 

Considering it is a Monday, the turnout is huge. 

Doherty replaces Maxwell immediately after lunch. He bowls a maiden.

James Pattinson to bowl the second over. Tendulkar (7) hits the third ball to the fence.

However, Pattinson has him caught behind off the next ball, the third umpire being consulted before the decision is made.

India 405 for four after 125 overs.

Scorecard:

Pujara has finally been dismissed, Pattinson having him caught by Doherty at long leg.

Pujara's 341-ball knock was inclusive of 30 fours and a six and he occupied the wicket for 450 minutes.

Virat Kohli comes out to join Tendulkar and starts off with a boundary off Maxwell, the shot helping the home team reach the 400-run mark.

India 400 for three after 122 overs.

Sachin Tendulkar has come out to bat amidst a loud cheer.

A boundary off Maxwell helps Pujara complete a well-deserved double hundred. 

It is the second double hundred of his fledgling career, having scored an unbeaten 206 against England in the opening Test at Motera last November.

India 392 for two after 120 overs.

Australia finally manage the breakthrough, Glenn Maxwell having Murali Vijay (167) caught by Ed Cowan at backward short leg. 

Vijay's 361-ball innings was inclusive of 23 boundaries and two sixes and he helped Pujara put on a record 370 runs for the second wicket. 

India 387 for two after 118 overs.

India will look to consolidate its advantage on Dday Three of the second Test here in Uppal.

The home team will resume at 311 for one, a lead of 74, and will look to take the game further away from Australia.

Cheteshwar Pujara is batting on 162 and Murali Vijay on 129, the two having put on 294 runs thus far.
