Chennai win by 77 runs.

Scorecard:

Dwayne Bravo, the purple cap holder, adds one more scalp to his kitty having Thisara Perera (23) caught by Badrinath. The latter, running back from point, almost collided with Holder and dropped the ball but managed it on the second attempt.

Hussey drops Karan Sharma (on 14) off Holder and Vijay cannot hold onto another opportunity provided by Sharma.

Amit Mishra (6) is Mankaded, run out at the bowler's end, in Jadeja's first over.

Hyderabad 110 for seven after 15.2 overs.
22:51
Scorecard:

Mohit Sharma strikes for a second time in his last over, having the dangerous Parthiv Patel (44) caught by Vijay.

Parthiv's 30-ball knock was inclusive of six boundaries and a six but his dismissal has come in at a time when Hyderabad can ill afford it.

Sharma ends with figures of two for 28. Karan Sharma comes out to bat and frees his arms with a couple of boundaries off Ashwin.

Hyderabad 75 for five after 10 overs.
22:42
Scorecard:

Patel smashes a six and two boundaries in Holder's second over and is also fortunate to survive when Bravo puts down a difficult chance off the last ball.

However, Chennai manage a second wicket in the next over, Ashwin having Sangakkara (3) caught by Morris at short fine leg.

Suresh Raina is handed the ball in the eighth over, replacing Ashwin (2-0-8-1). He strikes fifth ball, having Hanuma Vihari (3) caught by Vijay at long on.

In the next over, Mohit Sharma has Sammy (7) caught by Morris at long-on.

Hyderabad 62 for four after 8.2 overs. Time for the first strategic time-out.

Scorecard:

Hyderabad has a pathetic start with Dhawan (3) run out in the second over.

Parthiv Patel and Kumar Sangakkara make slow progress.

Hyderabad 29 for one after four overs.
22:02
Scorecard:

Sunrisers will need a lot of luck to get to 224.

It's a lost cause.
21:48
Scorecard:

Dale Steyn, despite conceding 10 runs in his final over, is the most impressive Hyderabad bowler (4-1-17-0).

Darren Sammy to bowl the final over. He concedes 20 runs.

Raina gets a free hit off the last ball. But he doesn't get a six but a four off the ball. He ends up on 99 not out.

Chennai score a whopping 223 for three in their stipulated 20 overs.

Scorecard:

Perera has finally provided the home team a wicket, cleaning up Hussey (67) in his fourth over.

Hussey's 42-ball knock was inclusive of five boundaries and four sixes and he helped Raina add 133 runs for the second wicket.

Steyn drops Dhoni first ball, but it is called a no ball. However, a brilliant catch by Karan Sharma ends Dhoni's (4) luck two balls later.

Perera goes for 16 in his final over to end with figures of three for 45. Jadeja gets successive boundaries in Steyn's final over.

Chennai 203 for three after 19 overs.
21:26
Scorecard:

Perera goes for 12 in his third over, with both batsmen hitting a boundary each.

A boundary followed by a couple off Mishra helps Raina complete his fifty. A couple by Hussey in the fifth ball helps Hussey get back the Orange Cap. The couple also raises the 100-run partnership for the second wicket.

He celebrates the same with a six inside out. Mishra, one of the best in this edition is disappointing in this match, ending with figures of none for 41.

Raina smashes Ishant 25 runs in the latter's final over. Ishant ends with pathetic figures (4-0-66-0), the worst ever in the IPL.

Chennai 177 for one after 17 overs.

That six over fine leg, off Ishant, helps Hussey complete 1,500 runs in the IPL.

Darren Sammy into the attack in the 11th over, replacing Karan Sharma (2-0-19-0). Raina hits a boundary off the fourth ball to help raise the 50-run partnership for the second wicket.

Hussey smashes another six, his third, off the last ball as Sammy goes for 13 first up.

Mishra is back at the other end but is unfortunate as Karan Sharma puts down Raina (on 26) at point.

Steyn is back to bowl and a single by Hussey off the third ball helps him complete his 11th IPL fifty.

Chennai 116 for one after 13 overs.

Scorecard:

After the first strategic timeout, taken after the sixth over, Hyderabad introduces both its spinners.

Karan Sharma bowls a decent first over but Hussey smashes a huge six over long-on and Raina over the bowler's head in his second.

Amit Mishra goes for 10 in his first over with both Hussey and Raina finding the fence.

With spinners failing to make the impact, Ishant is back to bowl in the 10th over but he gives away 12 runs including a six to Hussey.

Chennai 91 for one after 10 overs.
20:29
Scorecard:

Steyn gives away just two runs in his first two overs. But an expensive Ishant is replaced by Thisara Perera in the fourth over.

To no avail though as the Sri Lankan concedes 13 runs in his first over, Vijay hitting him for successive boundaries with Hussey also finding the fence.

Ishant replaces Steyn at the other end and Vijay smashes him for three successive sixes.

However, Perera strikes with his second over having Vijay (29) caught behind. Suresh Raina comes out to bat.

Chennai 50 for one after six overs.
20:09

Michael Hussey and Murali Vijay open the batting for Chennai while it will be Dale Steyn first up for the home side. He starts off with a maiden.

Ishant Sharma to share the new ball. Hussey gets successive boundaries in the over.

Chennai 11 without loss after two overs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and invited Chennai Super Kings to bat first in their Indian Premier League match at Uppal.

MS Dhoni, the Chennai captain, is happy with the toss loss.

"We were looking to bat first. The wicket may slow down as the game progresses," he reasoned.

"But there might be something in for the bowlers early. It is a tricky wicket," he added.

Hyderabad has named an unchanged XI while Chennai, still smarting from that defeat to Mumbai Indians, has brought in Jason Holder in place of Ben Laughlin.
