IPL updates: Watson, Binny help Royals thrash Super Kings

A brilliant counter-attacking cricket from Rajasthan Royals have ensured that they beat Chennai Super Kings by five-wickets. 

Blitz from Shane Watson and Stuart Binny virtually killed the contest for the visitors as they reached the target with 17 balls to spare. 

Watson made a 34-ball 70, which included six boundaries and six sixes, while Binny was unbeaten on 41 off 23. 

Chennai bowlers were in the shout after their new ball bowlers had reduced Royals to 19-3 at one stage. 

But Watto and Dravid put on a decent partnership, before the onslaught on Chennai bowlers.

Shane Watson has suddenly exploded for Rajasthan Royals smashing Chennai bowlers to all corners off the park.

Watson clipped four boundaries off Chris Morris' fourth over as Royals were quickly wiping off the runs. 

Prior to the Morris over, Watson smoked three sixes off Dwayne Bravo to turn the game on its head. 

At the end of 16 overs Royals were 133-4. Watson is on 66 off 31 balls, while Binny is on 34 off 20 balls. 

Royals require 9 runs off 24 balls to script a memorable win.

And as we speak, Jason Holder accounts for Ajinkya Rahane, who hit one straight to Murali Vijay at mid on.

James Faulkner comes in at No. 3 but the move fails as he is castled by Holder for 1. 

Poor shot from the Australian as he went in for a rash shot -- the ball crashed on the offstump.

Chennai were off to a great start before losing three quick wickets checked the visitors' charge. 

Vijay reached the landmark with a flick towards fine leg for a boundary.

Vijay dabs one and shoots off without realising that the ball is not far away from the bowler. Luckily for him, the bowler misses the stumps.

A good yorker from Faulkner limits the runs to a single. 

At the end of 16 overs, Chennai were 105-3. Vijay is on 48, while Jadeja is on 7.

Stuart Binny has provided the much-needed breakthrough for Royals as he castles Mike Hussey for 41.

Hussey looking to pull one through midwicket, missed the ball altogether as the ball crashed on the leg and middle stump. 


Suresh Raina, who came in at the fall of Hussey, played an unnecessary lofted shot, giving a simple catch to Sanju Samson off Kevon Cooper. 

Cooper then had Chennai skipper MS Dhoni walking back after he edged one to Shane Watson in slips for 2.

Chennai in a spot of bother now as they were 89-3 in 12.5 overs.

Hussey rocks back on the backfoot and pull it for a boundary through midwicket. 

Hussey helps himself with a single with a hit through covers.

Murali Vijay opens the face of the bat and guides the ball for a boundary through third man.

Vijay finishes the over with a slap towards point for the third boundary of the over. 

Chennai were 59-0 after 8 overs. Vijay is on 30, while Hussey is on 25.

Hussey shoulders a dangerous inswinging delivery from Malik -- a loud appeal, but umpire is unmoved. 

A push towards mid-on gives Hussey a single.

Five needed from six balls for victory and Vinay will bowl the final over.

The first ball is a low full toss which Bhatia taps it to mid-off for one. Vinay tries a slower ball which ten Doeschate calmly chips back over the bowler's head for a boundary to win the match in some style.

A crucial innings from ten Doeschate in the final overs as he made 11 from seven balls with the help of two boundaries.

Unadkat to bowl the 19th over. He starts with a slower ball beating ten Doeschate who tries to steer it to thirdman. 11 needed from 11 balls. And again the next ball is a slower ball and yet again the right-hander is beaten.

The third ball is full and straight and ten Doeschate lofts it over mid-on for a crucial boundary. The right-hander then walks across his stump but can only get a single to square leg.

Bhatia tries to swing it on the leg side but misses before a single on the leg side.

Tiwary is struggling to get it away as he play two dot balls before he tries to blast a full toss through the off-side but ends up being caught by Kohli in the covers.

Tiwary is dismissed for 24 from 27 balls as RCB continue to fight with the ball.

And KKR seem intent on making this interesting as they continue to take risks. Rajat Bhatia drops one to point and ten Doeschate calls him for a quick single and makes his ground despite a direct hit from Gayle.

Ten Doeschate steers the last ball to thirdman for one as three runs come from that over.

Kallis top edges the pull shot against Mithun as it flies over the keeper's head for a four. He crashes the next delivery behind square on the leg side for another boundary to put KKR in control.

Mithun is feeling the pressure as he bowls a wide down the leg side.

Kallis seems in a hurry as he tries to heave it down the ground but holes out to Henriques at mid-on. Kallis is dismissed for 41 from 44 balls to give RCB slight hope with runs difficult to come on a slow pitch.

Tiwary then makes room and smashes it over the cover for the third four of the over. The next delivery is a slower bouncer which Tiwary pulls behind square on the leg side for a couple to get 15 runs from the over.

KKR are 102 for four in 17 overs, needing 14 runs from 18 balls for victory.

Karthik in the middle of a good spell. Tiwary hits the first ball to the fielder at covers before he is beaten off the next ball but has got his foot down at the right time as keeper de Villiers' whipped off the bails.

Karthik has again stopped in his bowling stride and warns Kallis for backing up too early, the second time he has done it in this over.

Tiwary then takes one to the covers before Kallis comes down and hits it to long-on for one.

Tiwary then attempts to heave it over the leg side but fails to connect as just two runs come from that over with Karthik registering good figures of one for 17 in four overs.

Manoj Tiwary has a nervy moment off the first ball as he tries for a quick single but is sent back in time by Kallis. He then gets off the mark with a single to long-off.

Jaydev Unadkat sensibly taps the fifth ball to point for a single to give the strike back to Vinay.

RCB reach 96 for four in 16 overs as the run rate touches the six-run mark for the first time.

Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni seems to be missing playing in his home town -- at the Ranchi international stadium, which is making it's IPL debut today!

"Another big cricket match for Ranchi,beautiful stadium lovely wicket hope both the team entertain the people of Ranchi.I love my city," he wrote on Twitter.

Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir has won the toss and elected to bowl against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 60th match of the Pepsi Indian Premier League in Ranchi, on Sunday.

Kolkata have made two changes to their team bringing in Sachithra Senanayake for Eoin Morgan, while Debabrata Das replaced Iqbal Abdulla.

RCB made just one change with Abhimanyu Mithun coming in for Syed Mohammad.
