Updates: Sammy guides West Indies to 2 wkts win

Darren Sammy's calmness in the middle ensured that West Indies cruised to a two-wickets win to level the series in the second ODI here in Vizag. 

Sammy hit the winning run as West Indies reached the target with three balls to spare. 

Sammy came in when West Indies were in a spot of bother losing Dwayne Bravo. But he stitched a crucial partnership with Lendl Simmons putting on 82 runs for the sixth wicket. 

Indian bowlers struggled with the dew and some sloppy fielding, but credit must also go to visitors' batsmen who played some good shots.

Ravindra Jadeja strikes a crucial blow for India as he removes Lendl Simmons for 62. 

With the partnership between Simmons and Darren Sammy threatening to take the game away from India, Jadeja trapped the former much to the delight of the fans. 

And as we speak, Sammy reaches a well paced half-century. At the end of 47 overs West Indies were 267-6. 

The visitors need 22 runs from 18 balls.

Lendl Simmons and Darren Sammy's intelligent play coupled with some sloppy fielding have kept West Indies hopes alive.

Simmons should have been on his way back to the pavillion had Yuvraj Singh not dropped a sitter at long-off. 

Sammy has started to use the long handle now and is punishing some loose bowling from Indian pacers. 

And as we speak Simmons smokes one into the crowd to reach his half-century. The duo have added 52 runs for the sixth wicket. 

West Indies were 237-5 after 43 overs. Simmons is on 52, while Sammy is on 32.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar brought back into the attack, strikes straight away as he had Dwayne Bravo caught at square leg for 18.

Bravo who was looking to clear the fielder there with a pull, was unable to get the enough elevation. 

Lendl Simmons and Bravo added 38 runs for the fifth wicket. 

At the end of 35 overs West Indies were 188-5. Simmons is on 33, while Sammy is on 3.

Lendl Simmons and Dwayne Bravo have steadied the ship for now as Indian bowlers are struggling with the wet ball. 

Indian bowlers have not been able to put any kind of pressure, due to the we ball.

After removing Darren Bravo, Ashwin strikes again for India. 

This time its the well set Kieron Powell who has to make the long walk back after scoring an impressive 59. 

Powell looking to give Ashwin the charge was beaten by a mile as Dhoni completes an easy stumping. 

A couple from West Indies skipper Dwayne Bravo brings 150 for the team. At the end of 27 overs West Indies were 151-4.

Darren Bravo made use of three dropped chance to reach to his half-century to ensure that West Indies stay on track in the chase.

Bravo who was dropped by MS Dhoni, Raina (both in same over) and then by Mohammad Shami meant that the south paw reached the landmark in 53 balls. 

Barring that, its been a dominating innings from Bravo and along with Powell, the West Indies duo made full use of the conditions. 

Indian bowlers are finding it hard to grip the ball due to dew. 

But just as we speak Ashwin removes well-set Bravo -- this time MS Dhoni doesn't make any mistake. 

Bravo going for a cut shot, got a faint little edge as MS Dhoni snaps it with delight on his face. 

West Indies were 123-3 after 22.1 overs.

Darren Bravo and Kieron Powell have steadied the ship for West Indies after they lost Johnson Charles and Marlon Samuels in quick succession. 

Bravo has looked positive ever since he has come out in the middle by smashing Mohit Sharma for three boundaries in over. 

Indian spinners did manage to pull things back but West Indies duo have added on 63 runs for the third wicket. 

At the end of 16 overs West Indies were 87-2. Bravo is on 32, while Powell is on 34.

After Bhuvneshwar Kumar snapped Charles couple of overs ago, it was time for Mohit Sharma to strike as he removes Marlon Samuels for 8. 

Samuels who had hit couple of boundaries off Mohit Sharma, tried to go for the third, only to edge it to MS Dhoni, who took a brilliant catch. 

West Indies were 23-2 after 6 overs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar draws the first blood as he removes Johnson Charles for 12. 

A good catch from the Indian medium pacer off his own bowling as Charles hit one straight to Kumar, who took a nice reaction catch off his own bowling.

Kieron Powell and Johnson Charles walk out to chase a stiff target as Bhuvneshwar Kumar will open the proceedings with the ball for India. 

Charles gets off the mark straightaway with a single through third man. 

Kieron Powell lets couple of ball go away before he creams one through off side -- good fielding from Rohit Sharma keeps it to a single. 

Charles rounds up the over with a boundary through extra cover and mid off as West Indies were 6-0 after 1 over.

Skipper MS Dhoni turned the heat on West Indies bowlers to power India to 288-7 from 50 overs. 

India who got good base courtesy of Virat Kohli's 99 looked out of sorts when Ravi Rampaul removed Kohli, Raina and Jadeja in quick succession. 

However with four overs to go, Dhoni used the long handle to good effect, smoking Rampaul for consecutive sixes. 

India plundered 62 runs from the last five overs. 

For West Indies Rampaul was the most successful bowler with figures of 4-60 from 10 overs.

West Indies have kept a tight leash on Indian batsman, not allowing them to get away in the final overs. 

After the fall of Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja haven't been able to play big shot. 

Sunil Narine who was expensive in the initial spell, didn't allow Indians to get the bounday boards. 

Such was the cap that only Dhoni managed to hit two six in as many as six overs. 

With four overs to go India were 238-5. Dhoni is on 22, while Jadeja is on 9.

Virat Kohli fell one short of a deserving century as he made the long way back to the pavillion after being holed out at fine leg by Jason Holder. 

Kohli who came in at the fall of Rohit Sharma was cautious up front and then upped the ante as the batting Power Play came along. 

Kohli was involved in two crucial partnerships -- first with Yuvraj Singh wherein he put 69 for the third wicket. 

Since then he has combined well with Suresh Raina and put on 62 runs before Raina was caught by Bravo off the bowling of Rampaul. 

Kohli was one in by a surprise bouncer Rampaul as Kohli went in for a pull only to hit it Holder, who took a neat low catch. 

India were 209-5 after 40 overs.

Virat Kohli is marching towards yet another century as he is turning the heat on West Indies bowlers.

With the run rate hovering around 4.95, Kohli has up the ante with the batting Power Play still two overs away.

Kohli made use of the life that he got when Dwayne Bravo dropped the right hander off his own bowling. 

He was severe on Permaul as he fetched three boundaries off his over. 

West Indies were also guilty off dropping Raina, when the southpaw was batting on 13. Kieron Powell the guilty party as he dropped a dolly off the bowling of Lendl Simmons. 

 
With the partnership flourishing India were 184-3 after 34 overs. Kohli is on 84, while Raina is on 16.

Virat Kohli struck a fluent half-century as Yuvraj Singh lost concentration after getting a start. 

Darren Sammy the beneficiary as he had Yuvraj going for a pull, only to top edge to Marlon Samuels at mid wicket. Yuvraj made 28 from 49 balls. 

Earlier, Kohli reached his half-century courtesy of consecutive boundaries off Sammy in the same over. 

Raina who replaced Yuvraj, got off the mark straight away with a single towards third man.

India were 140-3 after 26 overs. Kohli is on 56, while Raina is on 1.

Yuvraj Singh who hasn't been amongst the runs off late has put his head down and is looking to rebuild the innings with Virat Kohli.

Sunil Narine continues his second over as the first ball is called wide. Replays show that the ball had clipped Kohli's thigh pad. 

100 up for India.

Kohli then plays paddle sweep for a boundary -- if he had missed it, well it could have been a different story for West Indies. 

A single gives Kohli the single. 

Couple of dot balls to end the over as India were 105-2 after 21 overs. Kohli is on 36, while Yuvraj is on 14.

Veeraswamy Permaul continues as the first one is flatter delivery down the leg side -- called wide by the umpire. 

Next up is a tossed up delivery as Dhawan plants his front foot and creams it through covers for a boundary. 

Permaul has the last laugh as he had Dhawan walking back to the pavillion after being adjudged LBW. 

Quicker flatter delivery this time as Dhawan misses the ball -- a loud appeal follows with Bravo too jumping in for a caught behind.

Dwayne Bravo now comes in to the attack as Kohli tucks one through the leg side for a single. 

Dhawan gets an outside edge on the off side for a single. 

A change of pace has Kohli checking his shot.

Ravi Rampaul strikes the first blow as he had Rohit Sharma walking back to the pavillion after he edged one to Darren Sammy in the slips.


A pitched up delivery from Rampaul had Rohit going for cut rather than drive and ended up in second slips hands, where Sammy took a neat low catch. 

A dot to end the over as India were 22-0. Shikhar Dhawan is in the middle on 6, while Virat Kohli is yet to open his account.

Jason Holder back for his second over as he hits the pads -- a loud appeal, but the ball has pitched outside leg stump -- umpire turns it down. 

Dhawan then creams on through the off side for a delightful boundary. 

Holder follows it with a full toss -- Dhawan misses out on a boundary through the leg side. 

A single ensures that the scoreboard is kept rotating.

Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan walk out in the middle. The duo has been in prime form and India would be banking on another good start.

Ravi Rampaul will open the proceedings for West Indies with the ball.

First up is a back of a length ball from Rampaul -- slight swing as Rohit tries to push it to covers from the crease. 

Next up Rohit creams one through the off side for a boundary. Short and wide from Rampaul as Rohit slaps it past point. 

Couple off balls later Rohit opens the face of the bat to collect another boundary towards third man. 

At the end of 1 over, India were 8-0.

Mitchell Johnson again was the star of the show picking up 5-42 to wreak havoc on English batsmen.

Welocme to the live update of the second One- Day International between India and West Indies here in Vizag. 

The news from the middle is that West Indies skipper Dwayne Bravo has won the toss and has elected bowl first on a ground that has seen lots of rain off late.

The visitors have made couple of changes to their side bringing in Kieran Powell and Veerasammy Permaul.

India too have made one change bringing in Mohit Sharma in place of Jaydev Undakat.
