CLT20 Live! Chennai thrash Brisbane by 8 wkts

23:04   - Scorecard

A majestic 48-ball 57 from Mike Hussey and clinical bowling performance from Chennai bowlers has helped Chennai thrash Brisbane Heat by 8 wickets. 

MS Dhoni finished off the game with a maximum as Chennai got off a great start as the openers put on a 75-runs stand.

None of the Brisbane bowlers were able to make any sort of impact.

Chennai Super Kings are in a strong position despite losing Murali Vijay. 

Suresh Raina, who came in after Vijay's wicket got off the blocks pretty quickly, hitting two massive sixes to make his intentions pretty clear. 

Hussey too is marching towards his half-century to ensure Chennai are on course of an impressive win.

But just as we speak, Raina makes a quick exit after being adjudged leg-before wicket to Dan Christian for 23. 

At the end of 14 overs, Chennai were 116-2. Hussey is on 47.

Murali Vijay who has been struggling the series, has finally come good with an impressive start. 

Mike Hussey has been ever consistent with reliable start ensuring that Chennai don't lose early wicket.

Vijay has been the aggressive of the two smashing two sixes off Nathan Hauritz.

But just as we speak, Ben Cutting provides the breakthrough as he had Vijay walking back courtesy of a top catch from Burns at fine leg.

Vijay made 42 

At the end of 9.2 overs Chennai were 75-1. Hussey is on 29 and he is joined by Suresh Raina. 

Chennai still need 68 from 66 balls.

Chasing 138 for victory, Chennai Super Kings are off to a steady start. Mike Hussey and Murali Vijay have struck two boundaries apiece. 

Brisbane bowlers have been more or less on the right length and they haven't allowed the Chennai openers to get off to a flier. 

At the end of four overs, Chennai were 28-0.

Ben Cutting's brilliant counter attacking cricket helped Brisbane Heat to post a decent 137-7 after being put into bat first. 

Brisbane Heat were reeling at 66-6 at one moment, before a much-needed 71 runs stand between Chris Hartley and Cutting revived the innings.

Hartley made an impressive 35, while Cutting was unbeaten on 42.

Chennai pacers did the early damage, before spinners put the breaks on the Brisbane scoring.

Suresh Raina now gets as cleans up Chris Sabburg for two.

Sabburg looking to play the ball on the leg side missed the line of the ball as the ball crashed on to the middle and leg stump much to the delight of the bowler. 

Brisbane Heat were 68-6 after 12 overs.


20:35  - Scorecard

Ravindra Jadeja now introduced and he strikes off the first ball. Jadeja induced a false stroke from Dan Christian. 

Christian looking to be aggressive against Jadeja mistimed the shot and was holed out in the deep by Mike Hussey.

Four balls later, it was the turn of Joe Burns who made his long walk back after edging one to slips and was smartly taken in the slips by Hussey.

At the end of 8 overs, Brisbane were 56-4.
20:18  - Scorecard

Skipper James Hopes and Chris Lynn have ensured that Brisbane Heat are off to a great start despite losing Dom Michael in the opening over.

Both the batsmen have looked to take an aggressive approach and have played lofted shots off the pacers Albie Morkel and Mohit Sharma. 

But just as we speak, Morkel strike a crucial blow -- removing James Hopes for 20.

Hopes, who was looking to loft Morkel for another big hit, miscued one and was taken smartly by Jason Holder at mid-off.

At the end of four overs Brisbane were 33-2.

Mohit Sharma to open the proceedings for Chennai as Dom Michael and James Hopes walk out to the middle.

First up back of a length delivery from Mohit as Hopes smashes it for the boundary off the first ball. 

A streaky single puts Michael on strike for the first time in CLT20.

Mohit Sharma strikes in the first over as he had Michael caught brilliantly by S Badrinath.

Michael didn't even trouble the scorers.
19:39   Welcome to the second match of the day between Chennai Super Kings and Brisbane Heat. 

The news from the middle is MS Dhoni has won the toss and Chennai will bowl first. 

The skipper reckons that its difficult to contain in the second innings. No wonder MS is sticking with the winning squad for the match. 

Heat meanwhile have made couple of changes to the side.

Heino Kuhn joins Rudolph at the crease and the two ensure the needful. Kuhn gets into the act immediately with a huge six off Steyn. 

Steyn still ends with good figures of one for 23.

Kuhn (15 not out) smashes Perera to the fence to ensure Titans an emphatic eight-wicket win, with 21 balls to spare. 

Rudolph remains unbeaten on 49. It is the second win for Titans. It'll be difficult for Sunrisers now.

Dale Steyn back into the attack in the 13th over, in place of Ishant (3-0-22-0). He strikes first ball, having Davids (64) caught by Sammy. 

The Titans captain's 42-ball knock was inclusive of seven hits to the fence and four over it and he helped Rudolph add 112 runs for the opening wicket, a partnership that has made the match a no-contest. 

AB de Villiers replaces his captain at the crease. He gets into the act immediately with a couple of boundaries off Ishant but gets carried away in the process, the bowler having him caught by Perera.

Darren Sammy into the attack in the 10th over, replacing an expensive JP Duminy (1-0-14-0), and Davids welcomes him with a six over long-on. The Titans captain completes a well-deserved half century in the over. 

Ishant back into the attack in the 11th over, in place of Mishra (2-0-17-0). Titans reach the 100-run mark in the over.

Thisara Perera replaces Steyn (2-0-13-0) in the attack in the sixth over. Davids welcomes him with a couple of boundaries as Titans get past the 50-run mark. The over costs Sunrisers 14 runs. 

Amit Mishra into the attack in the seventh over, replacing Ishant (2-0-11-0). Rudolph welcomes him with a boundary as eight runs come off it.

Karan Sharma to open the bowling for Hyderabad while it will be Henry Davids and Jacques Rudolph first up for Titans. 

Davids hits the final ball over the fence as nine runs come off the opening over.

Steyn to bowl with the second new ball. He gives away six runs, with Davids hitting a boundary past cover.

Ishant Sharma to bowl the third over. Eight runs come off the over, Rudolph finding the fence.

Darren Sammy joins Thisara Perera with their team in trouble. In fact nothing has gone right for Sunrisers after the opening partnerships. 

The woes increase as Richards has Sammy (1) caught by Behardien at long-off and Perera (11) is run out. Morkel ends with expensive figures (4-0-42-0).

Richards ends up with figures of one for 24. De Lange to bowl the final over. 

Steyn (27 not out) hits the first ball for a huge six and the second for a boundary. The third goes over midwicket for another six, the fourth to the fence. De Lange concedes 21 in his last over as his countryman takes him apart.

Good news for Hyderabad is both of Titans' best bowlers have finished their spells. De Lange returns. He gives away just four runs. 

Richards also bowls a good comeback over. De Lange strikes in his third over, crashing through JP Duminy's (17) defences. It's 146kmph.

Hanuma Vihari is the new batsman in. He doesn't last long though, becoming Wiese's third victim, thanks albeit to a brilliant catch by captain Davids. 

Biplab Samantray comes in to join JP Duminy at the crease. He's not allowed to open his account, Davids having him stumped. 

Davids, the Titans captain, ends with impressive figures of one for 18. And Wiese with even better figures (4-0-17-3).

Marchant de Lange replaces Richards in the fifth over. Dhawan helps himself to another couple of boundaries and a six in the over. 

Patel hits a couple of boundaries and a six off Morkel to help raise the 50-run partnership for the opening wicket. 

David Wiese replaces an expensive De Lange and strikes with his fourth ball, giving Titans a much needed breakthrough. He has Dhawan (37) caught by Morkel at third man. 

Dhawan's 21-ball innings was inclusive of seven hits to the fence and one over it. He helped Parthiv add 62 runs for the opening wicket.

JP Duminy replaces his captain at the crease. Parthiv (26) doesn't last long though, Wiese getting through his defences with an off-cutter.

Rowan Richards to bowl the third over and Dhawan welcomes him with a boundary over mid-on. Three balls later, the batsman gets a second boundary, this time between point and cover. 

Dhawan gets a couple of boundaries in Morkel's second over.

Titans are unchanged while Hyderabad have Biplab Samantray coming in for Ashish Reddy.

Parthiv Patel and Shikhar Dhawan open the batting for Hyderabad while it will be Henry Davids first up for the Titans. Dhawan hits the last ball to the fence as six runs come off the over. 

Morne Morkel to bowl with the second new ball. A good over is spoiled by a last ball six by Parthiv.
15:38  Titans have won the toss and invited Sunrisers Hyderabad to bat first in their Champions League T20 match in the overcast conditions at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi.

"We will try to take some early wickets and put them under pressure," reasoned captain Henry Davids.

"Hopefully, we can restrict them to a modest total," he added. His opposite number, Shikhar Dhawan, concurred.

"We would have fielded first as well but will now look to put up a big total," he said. The good news for Sunrisers is Darren Sammy is fit.
