England: 161 (38.1 overs)

22:32

England: 154-9
India: 304-6 (50 overs)

Shami is back into the attack in the 35th over and is unlucky as Rohit (at midwicket) put down Woakes (12) off the third ball.

The batsman expresses his gratitude with a huge six over long-on two balls later.

Jadeja gets his fourth when he has Woakes (20) stumped in his sixth over. In comes last man James Anderson and he smashes the second ball through square leg for his first boundary.

Another single off his blade helps England get to the 150-run mark, in the 37th over.

Jadeja gets his third wicket when Stokes (23) attempts a big hit only to be caught by Rahane.

Chris Jordan joins Woakes at the crease with England in danger of getting all out well short of their quota of overs.

Jordan last two balls, before Raina has him out leg before. James Tredwell trods into the crease.
22:06

England: 125-6
India: 304-6 (50 overs)

Ashwin strikes in his seventh over, having Morgan (28) caught by Shami at square leg.

Chris Woakes is the new man in. But it is a lost cause for England now.

Stokes albeit is playing a quick little cameo.
21:42

England: 89-5
India: 304-6 (50 overs)

Jos Buttler is the new man in. He survives just nine balls, Jadeja having him caught by Kohli at extra cover.

Half of the England side is back in the pavilion with just 86 runs on board and 24 overs to be played.

Ben Stokes is the new man in.
21:33

England: 81-4
India: 304-6 (50 overs)

Ravindra Jadeja into the attack in the 21st over, replacing Sharma (6-2-18-0).

He strikes with his fourth ball, having Hales (40) caught by Ashwin at long leg.

Hales' 63-ball innings was inclusive of five boundaries and his dismissal has come at the worst possible time for England.
21:28

England: 79-3
India: 304-6 (50 overs)

Kumar provides India with the third breakthrough, getting through the defense of Joe Root (4). The home team down to 63 for three in the 14th over.

Eoin Morgan is the new man in. He and Hales have a lot of repair work to do if England are to make a match out of it.
21:14
England: 64-3 after 15 overs
India: 304-6 (50 overs)

Bhuvneshwar Kumar put India high in the saddle when he bowled Joe Root.

The batsman went back to a delivery that nipped and found his middle stump dislodged after scoring 4.

England were 63 for 3 after 13.4 overs.

20:54

England: 56-2
India: 304-6 (50 overs)

Mohammad Shami provided India the breakthrough, trapping Alastair Cook leg before for 19.

England were 54 for 1 after 10.3 overs.

Shami struck again with the last ball of the 11th over, bowling new-man in Ian Bell for 1.

The two quick wickets saw England reduced to 56-2 after 11 overs.
20:35

England: 38-0
India: 304-6 (50 overs)

Mohammed Shami replaces Kumar (3-0-17-0) in the attack in the seventh over. He gives away seven runs, with Hales hitting the last ball through the covers for his third boundary.

Hales finds successive boundaries in Sharma's fourth over. His aggression is helping the English run rate considerably.
20:19

England: 20-0
India: 304-6 (50 overs)

England's revised target is 295 in 47 overs.

Bhuvneswar Kumar goes for six in his first over and another six in his second, with Hales finding the boundary in the latter.

Mohit Sharma concedes just a single first up and two in the second. Hales finds the boundary again in Kumar's third over.
19:29

England: 0-0
India: 304-6 (50 overs)

Even as Alastair Cook and Alex Hales walk out to begin the English chase, they are forced to take an about turn and return to the pavilion.

Rain has arrived in Cardiff and we have a delay.

Indian players hung around in the field in a bid to force the start but the English openers aren't interested.
18:55

India: 304-6 (50 overs)

Anderson has finished his spell (10-1-57-0), one that was expensive to say the least.

It's his opening partner Woakes, instead who has done the job for England on the day. He strikes again in his final over, cleaning up Dhoni (52 off 51).

R Ashwin replaces his captain at the crease. Woakes ends with impressive figures (10-1-52-4).

A couple of boundaries by Ashwin, in the last over by Jordan, helps India get past the 300-run mark.

India manage 304 for six in their stipulated 50 overs, thanks largely to that magnificent 100 by Raina.
18:44

India: 285-5

A couple off Anderson takes Dhoni to his 55th ODI fifty, his 10th against England.

India 285 for five with two overs left.
18:38

India: 281-5

Raina's whirlwind innings finally comes to an end, as Woakes has him caught by Anderson at deep cover in the 47th over.

Raina's 75-ball 100 was inclusive of 12 boundaries and three sixes and helped his captain add 144 runs (off just 101 balls) for the fifth wicket.

Ravindra Jadeja is the new man in.
18:27

India: 267-4

A massive by Raina, six straight over Tredwell's head, in the 42nd over, helps raise 100-run partnership for the fifth wicket. It has been a stand that has changed India's prospects.

Tredwell ends with figures of two for 42, impressive considering the circumstances.

A single off Jordan helps Raina complete his fourth ODI hundred, his first against England and his first in four years - since the 106 against Sri Lanka at Dhaka.
18:07

India: 228-4

India reach the 200-run mark in the 39th over, courtesy a wide by Jordan.

In the final powerplay over, by Anderson, Raina helps himself to three successive boundaries. The Dhoni-Raina partnership is now inching close to the 100-run mark.

India manage 62 runs (@ 12.00) in the batting powerplay and those five overs have complete turned this match on its head. India 218 for four, with 10 overs to go.
17:49

India: 191-4

Raina smashes the first ball of Woakes' second over for a huge six straight past the bowler's head.

A single of the next ball helps him complete his 30th ODI fifty, his 12th against England.

What an innings this has been, coming at a time when India needed it the most.

He celebrates the same with another six off Woakes, this time towards deep square leg. Woakes' seventh over costs him 20 runs.
17:44

India: 171-4

Batting powerplay is taken in the 36th over. Woakes replaces Tredwell (8-1-27-2) in the attack. Six runs come off the over.

Jordan replaces Anderson (8-1-40-0) in the next over. Raina welcomes him with a wonderful boundary through the off side.
17:35

India: 156-4

Captain MS Dhoni is the new man in with his side in a spot of bother.

A bowling change for England after the second drinks break. Anderson replaces Jordan (6-0-29-0) in the attack in the 33rd over. Raina hits his second ball to the fine leg fence.

Raina's second boundary off Anderson takes India past the 150-run mark, in the 35th over. The left-hander gets another in the over.
17:11

India: 132-4

Jordan replaces Stokes (5-0-32-0) in the attack in the 29th over. He gives away five runs.

Save Woakes and Tredwell, all other England bowlers have struggled. And it is the latter who provides his side a reason to cheer. Again.

Tredwell has a well settled Rohit (52) caught by Woakes at long-off , in his sixth over.

Rohit's 87-ball 52 was inclusive of four boundaries and a six.
16:58

India: 122-3

Suresh Raina joins Rohit at the crease. He starts off with a boundary off Stokes.

A single off Stokes helps Rohit complete his 23rd ODI fifty, but only his second against England - after the magnificent 83 in Mohali last year.
16:46

India: 110-3

Stokes, after two expensive overs to begin with, replaces Root (3-0-14-0) in the attack in the 23rd over. It's a better over from him, just four runs coming off it.

It's got predictable again. Just when things look to have settled down for India, they lose a wicket. Rahane is out stumped, off Tredwell.

Rahane's 47-ball 41 was inclusive of four hits to the fence and he helped Rohit add 91 runs for the third wicket.
16:37

India: 103-2

James Tredwell is introduced into the attack in the 20th over, replacing Jordan (4-0-20-0). He gives away seven runs first up.

Root is doing a good job at the other end. But England need to break this partnership, that is threatening at a big total at the moment.

A single by Rohit, off Tredwell, helps India get to the 100-run mark, in the 22nd over. It has been a remarkable turnaround for the visitors.
16:21

India: 75-2

Rahane gets his second boundary, to fine leg in Jordan's second over, the shot helping India get past the 50-run mark, in the 14th over.

Stokes is unlucky in his second over as Rohit (on 20) survives a caught behind appeal, then is given a free hit off a no-ball that shouldn't have been, and then smashes the same over deep square leg for the first six of the Indian innings.

Rahane's third boundary, off Jordan, followed by a couple brings about the 50-run partnership for the third wicket.

Joe Root replaces Stokes (2-0-18-0) in the attack after drinks, in the 17th over. He concedes four runs first up.
16:00

India: 47-2

Ajinkya Rahane is the new man in.

Anderson is given a sixth over and it turns out to be a wrong decison by Cook, the over being England's most expensive thus far. Rohit hits two magnificent boundaries as 10 runs come off it.

England effect the first bowling change in the 12th over, Chris Jordan replacing Woakes (5-1-8-2). He gives away three runs first up.

It's double change for England, Ben Stokes replacing Anderson (6-1-27-0). Rahane dispatches the fourth ball straight of mid-on for a superb boundary.
15:34

India: 19-2

The pressure exerted by the England bowlers has an impact as Woakes strikes in the first ball of his fourth over, having Dhawan (11) caught behind.

A slow start, and now an early wicket, India couldn't have had worse in Cardiff. Dhawan's 22-ball knock included two boundaries but was largely a struggle.

Virat Kohli is the new man in. One need not be reminded that he was terrible in the Test series. Can he find his mojo back?

The answer is no. He survives three balls, hitting the third one straight to Alastair Cook at mid-off.

Woakes's twin strikes have put England on top early on in Cardiff.
15:28

India: 19-0

Just to add to the average score bit, England have the best economy rate among all teams in the first 10 overs in ODIs in recent times.

A boundary by Dhawan, off Anderson, takes the score to 19 without loss after seven overs.
15:26

India: 12-0

Dhawan gets his first runs in Woakes's second over, an exquisite boundary through the off side.

The Indian openers have put just 12 runs on the board in the first six overs.

This has been a slow start by India but not a surprising one. The average first innings score at this venue is just 228.
15:16

India: 9-0

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan open the batting for India and it will be Jimmy Anderson first up for England. It's a maiden.

Chris Woakes to bowl with the second new ball. He also starts off with a maiden.

The first run on the Indian scoreboard is an extra, a wide by Anderson. And the first scoring shot is a boundary by Rohit, an on-drive, in the same over.

14:53   England win toss, elect to bowl vs India in 2nd ODI
England captain Alastair Cook has won the toss and elected to bowl in the second One-Day International against India, in Cardiff, on Wednesday.

The opening match of the five-match ODI series in Bristol on Monday was washed out without a ball being bowled.

Alex Hales will make his ODI debut for England and he will open the innings.

For India, Ajinkya Rahnae gets the nod ahead of Ambati Rayudu, who misses out despite a half-century in the practice match against Middlesex.

Bhuveshwar Kumar, Mohit Sharma and Mohammed Shamia are the three seamers, while Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin are the two spin bowlers.

It is overcast in Durham at the moment with some rain predicted later in the day. The pitch looks green and might help the pacers early on in the match and England would be hoping to make the advantage count with a few early wickets.
