2nd Test Live! McCullum leads New Zealand dominance on Day Four

A boundary off Jadeja takes Neesham to 48. A single off Rohit Sharma helps McCullum becomes the second highest scorer for New Zealand, surpassing Stephen Fleming, and behind Martin crowe (299).

The shot also ensures a 300-run lead, while bringing up the 100-run partnership for the seventh wicket. 

Three runs off Jadeja helps Neesham complete a fifty on debut. He celebrates the same with a couple of boundaries off Rohit. 

New Zealand reach 571 for six (189 overs) at stumps on Day Four, an overall lead of 325.

McCullum is unbeaten on 281 and Neesham on 67, the two having added 135 runs for the seventh wicket. It's been New Zealand's day, or shall we say McCullum's day.

McCullum and Neesham are scoring at a quick pace. The New Zealand lead is closing in on the 300-run mark. 

The New Zealand captain has become the sixth batsman to score more than 500 runs in a two-match series. 

He has also broken Glenn Turner's longstanding record (504 minutes) for the longest innings by a New Zealand batsman.

Neesham has quickly moved in close to a fifty.

MS Dhoni is going to bowl. Yes, the Indian captain has taken over the bowling duties immediately after tea. 

Virat Kohli has taken over the keeping gloves. The 350-run partnership for the sixth wicket is attained in Dhoni's first over. 

Another single in the over helps the pair equal the best sixth wicket partnership ever - by Mahela and Prasanna Jayawardene against India in 2009-10. 

After one over, Dhoni and Kohli exchange roles. A single by Watling helps create the new world record for the sixth wicket. The single also takes the lead to the 200-run mark.

The second new ball is taken in the 160th over. Shami to bowl. It's an aggressive field with five slips. Watling survives a leg before shout first ball. 

But doesn't survive in the second. 

EWatling's 367-ball 124 was inclusive of 13 boundaries and was involved in a record partnership with his captain. 

James Neesham is the new batsman. Zaheer to bowl the second over. NZ gets past the 450-run mark in the over.

Corey Anderson's wicket, India's last success in this innings, was taken in the 38th (37.2) over. Since these two wicketkeeper-batsmen have gone from strength to strength, breaking a plethora of records en route. 

Virat Kohli is also handed the ball even as Dhoni gets increasingly frustrated. Both Rohit and Virat fail to impress. 

A boundary off Kohli, followed by single, helps McCullum reach his highest Test score - besting his 225 against India at Hyderabad in 2010. 

It is also the highest partnership for the sixth wicket for New Zealand, besting the 339 put together by McCullum and Martin Guptill against Bangladesh at Seddon Park in February 2010.

New Zealand get to the tea break 440 for five (after 158 overs), an overall lead of 194. It's been yet another session dominated by the home team.

Ishant Sharma replaces Zaheer in the attack in the 146th over. McCullum smashes him for a six over third man. 

With his frontline bowlers failing to do the task, Dhoni is forced to hand the ball to Rohit Sharma in the 147th, replacing Jadeja (42-10-78-1). Watling hits a wonderful cover drive for a boundary.

One record after other is falling as both these batsmen make merry. 

A boundary off Zaheer, by McCullum, brings about the 300-run partnership for the sixth wicket and takes the batsman to 199.

Another boundary in Zaheer's next over helps McCullum complete his third double hundred in Tests, his second in succession - after his 224 in Auckland. 

McCullum also becomes the first New Zealand batsman to score back-to-back double hundreds. The boundary also takes the New Zealand lead past the 150-run mark.

Another single in the over helps the home team reach the 400-run mark.

For the record the sixth wicket partnership is now worth 291 runs. It is the highest partnership for any wicket for New Zealand against India, besting the 
271 runs for fourth wicket added between Jesse Ryder and Ross Taylor at McLean Park (Napier) in 2009.

A boundary off Jadeja helps Watling get to 99. Another boundary off Zaheer, in the next over, helps him complete his third Test hundred. It also helps him complete 1,000 Test runs. It's been a terrific innings.

Shami is generating some good pace and McCullum seems to be losing a bit of concentration, a hallmark of this innings.

The New Zealand captain plays another risky shot off Ishant and gets another boundary wide of the deep point fielder. Watling also gets a boundary in the over to move into the 90s, the shot helping complete the 250-run partnership for the sixth wicket and also stretch the lead to the 100-run mark. 

New Zealand reach 347 for five at lunch (127 overs), an overall lead of 101 runs. The home team managed 95 runs in the morning session, more importantly without losing a wicket.

Suffice to say it's been another frustrating session for India.

The batsman helps himself to another boundary, this time on the off side, in Shami's second over.

A boundary by McCullum, in Ishant's sixth over of the day, helps raise the 200-run partnership for the sixth wicket. It is New Zealand's fourth ever 200-plus stand, for any wicket, against India. 

A single by Watling in the next Shami over helps the home team get to the 300-run mark. Zaheer replaces Ishant in the attack in the 112th over.McCullum welcomes him with a boundary as NZ survive the first hour.

Ravindra Jadeja is handed the ball in the day's 16th over, the 115th of the innings. He gives away only a single. 

McCullum smashes a boundary off Zaheer to complete a well-deserved 150. He celebrates the same with another boundary.

Welcome to the coverage of the fourth day of the second and final Test between New Zealand and India at the Basin Reserve. 

Brendon McCullum (114 not) and BJ Watling (52 not out) have done a lot of hard work so far and need to continue doing that if they want to make it challenging for India.

Ishant Sharma to start the day's proceedings. It's a maiden.
