Varun Aaron comes into the attack, replacing Shami, who bowled an excellent first spell of five overs for 11 runs including three maidens.

Williamson gets a couple from the fifth delivery to the fine leg region as Aaron makes a tidy start.

Guptill plays two dot balls before he lofts Bhuvneshwar back over his head for a boundary. He then takes a quick single on the leg side before Williamson ducks under a bouncer and it is called a wide for height.

Aaron strikes in his next over with the wicket of Guptill, who chips it to mid-on to be dismissed for 16 from 35 balls. A bit of late swing for Aaron as Guptill was caught in two minds and ended up chipping it straight to Shami.

Ross Taylor survives a close shout for LBW, he looked dead in front but was perhaps saved by the inside edge.

Shami has found a nice rhythm right from the start as he comes up with another maiden, his second on the trot. Guptill initially looked to pull the third ball, short outside the off-stump but backed out at the last moment. He has started off cautiously to score just one from 15 balls.

Ryder breaks the shackles with a couple wide of mid-on and then punches the next delivery through the covers for another two runs. Ryder gets a leg bye from the fourth ball as five runs come from the over.

Shami to bowl to Ryder for the first time and he starts with a bouncer which goes down the leg side and is called a wide. The left-hander is beaten by the outswinger which moves away as he plays from the crease. Another wide from Shami before Ryder edges the last ball to thirdman for one.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to bowl the second over. Ryder gets NZ off the mark with a single to fine leg region before Kumar beats Guptill with the outswinger which pitches on the stumps and moves away enough to beat the bat.
