Eng 404-9 (115 ovs) vs India 457 | Scorecard

Anderson gets into the act as he makes room and chops a short ball from Ishant over the slip region for a boundary. That four takes Anderson's score to 37 with the help of eight fours, his highest in Test cricket.

Three balls later the left-hander smashes it through the covers for another four as England continue to torment the Indian bowlers.

Root takes a couple of Shami to sweeper cover to raise the 100-run stand for the 10th wicket. Shami tries a short ball to Anderson which doesn't rise much and the left-hander steers it fine past the keeper on the leg side for a four to take his score to 46 and one hit away from his maiden Test fifty.

The last ball has some bite on it as Anderson is forced but it falls just short of the fielder at point and they take a single.

England are 404 for nine in 115 overs and are now just 53 runs behind India's first innings total of 457.

Root is batting on 104 from 190 balls, while Anderson has made 46 to continue and frustrate the Indian bowlers.
