Eng 2nd inns: 173-5 (76 ovs); Target: 319 | Scorecard

Ali lofts Jadeja over mid-on for a couple to raise the 100-run stand for the fifth wicket with Root as England look lift the tempo before the lunch break.

Change of tactics from India as the slips are taken off and fielders placed at short leg and leg gully with Ishant bowling short to Root. The right-hander ducks under the first bouncer but defends the next and is struck on the body by the third.

The bouncer does the trick as Ali tries to fend the last ball but ends up gloving a simple catch to Pujara at short leg.

A wicket off the last ball of the session would boost India's morale heading into the lunch break.
