LIVE IPL! Yusuf blitz seals second spot for KKR

A blistering 22-ball 72 from Yusuf Pathan sealed the second spot from Kolkata Knight Riders. 

KKR who had to reach the target in 15.2 overs, were struggling when they were 4-78, before the blitz took the game for Kolkata. 

Surya Kumar Yadav sealed the game with a six as Knight Riders beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 4 wickets.

Yusuf Pathan smashed a blistering 15-ball 50 to power KKR in to a powerful postition. 

He smashed Dale Steyn six and boundary to reach the landmark. Yusuf tore into Dale Steyn plundering 26 runs from his over.

Yusuf Pathan is using the long handle to good effect, smashing Sunrisers bowlers to all corners. 

Yusuf took the attack to off-spinner Parvez Rasool smashing him for two massive sixes, which included a drop by Dale Steyn and two boundaries. 

He then attacked Karn Sharma, smashing him for two sixes. Karn did manage to remove Shakib in the over, but if Yusuf stays he can take the game away from Sunrisers. 

KKR were 116-5 after 12 overs.

Karn Sharma strikes once again as he removes in form Robin Uthappa for 41. 

Uthappa who played some expansive strokes, looked to attack Karn was caught in the deep by Jason Holder. 

Ryan ten Doeschate was involved in a mix up and was run out  for nought. 

Ten Doeschate dabs one and shoots off, but Yusuf turns him down midway, as the Netherlands player was short of his crease. 

KKR were 78-4.

Karn Sharma strikes in his first over as he removes Manish Pandey for 2.

Pandey gives Karn the charge, but can't clear long on and is caught by Dale Steyn. 

Kolkata were 57-2 after 8 overs.

Kolkata are off to a great start in the chase of 161. KKR are well aware that they need to surpass the score in 15.2 overs, if they have to finish 2nd on the points table. 

Openers Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa took on Bhuvneshwar Kumar, smashing him for three boundaries.

Gambhir then cracked Dale Steyn for a boundary to get the scoreboard moving. 

Gambhir smashed Jason Holder out of the park and followed it with a boundary off a no-ball. 

But Holder had the last laugh as he castled Gambhir for 28. Gambhir was once again guilty of chopping one back onto the stumps. 

KKR 43-1 after 5 overs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad struggled on a slow pitch as they failed to get the momentum to their innings. 

Sunrisers finished with 160-7 after being asked to bat first. 

KKR bowlers managed to get wickets at regular intervals as on Darren Sammy managed to get some momentum to their innings. 

Sammy made 29 from 19 balls.

Sunrisers Hyderabad innings is going nowhere as Kolkata bowlers have kept a tight leash on the scoring. 

Darren Sammy is trying his best with couple of sixes and boundary. 

Anirudha Srikkanth, playing his first game, was stumped off Shakib al Hasan for 3.

Dhawan slaps one through the off-side, where Pandey puts in the dive and rockets the throw back to Robin Uthappa, who whips the bails off in a flash.

Venugopal Rao pushes one through the leg side for a single. Shikhara Dhawan collects a brace with a push on the offside. 

Narine gets a carrom ball as Rao collects a leg bye. Dhawan slaps one through the offside only for a single. 

Boundaries seems to have dried up as Sunrisers were 89-2 after 12 overs.

Ryan ten Doeschate strikes for Kolkata as he had Naman Ojha walking back  for 26. 

Ojha who had smashed ten Doeschate out of the park, tried to repeat the stroke, only to lob it in the air and was pouched by the bowler. 

Ojha-Dhawan added 64 runs for second wicket. Sunrisers were 69-2 after 8 overs.

Morkel continues for his third over. After Warner's dismissal, Sunrisers have managed to get going with a flurry of boundaries. 

Shikhar Dhawan hit three boundaries to knock off the pressure off Vinay Kumar. 

Morkel pushes on down the leg side for another boundary. 

At the end of 5 overs, Sunrisers were 41-1. Dhawan is on 19, while Ojha is on 4.

Warner looking to drive the ball, missed it completely as the ball crashed on to the off-stump.

Welcome to the update of the second game of the day between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad. 

The news from the middles is that KKR have won the toss and have elected to bowl first.

Kolkata are going in with an unchanged side. Sunrisers have made couple of changes to their side, bringing in Jason Holder and Anirudh Srikkanth, in place of Aaron Finch and Irfan Pathan.

Chennai: 160-2 (17.4 overs)
Bangalore: 154-6 (20 overs)

Starc to bowl the 17th over. A boundary off the second ball helps raise the 50-run partnership for the third wicket. 

Jakati to bowl the 18th over. Dhoni sweeps the first ball to the fine leg fence and clears the ropes over long on in the second. The Chennai captain remains unbeaten on a 28-ball 49, giving his partner an opportunity to complete the fifty. 

Du Plesiss obliges, his six over long-off not only helps complete a well-deserved half century but also seals Chennai's win, with a whopping 14 balls to spare.

The result has helped Chennai consolidate on their second spot.

A single by Dhoni, off Yuvraj, helps Chennai reach the 100-run mark, in the 14th over. 

Chahal ends his spell with decent figures (4-0-24-0). Having conceding just 12 runs in his first three, Yuvraj goes for 22 in his final over, with Dhoni, having survived a missed stumping first ball, hitting successive sixes and a last ball boundary.

After Smith's departure, things have expectedly slowed down for Chennai. Yuzvendra Chahal gives away five in his opening over and Sachin Rana only seven. 

The pressure tells, and the introduction of Yuvraj Singh ensures a wicket for Bangalore, the part-timer having Raina (18) stumped. 

Captain MS Dhoni comes out to bat.

With Rampaul conceding 15 in his first over, Kohli is forced to make a bowling change early on. Mitchell Starc comes in to bowl but there is no respite whatsoever as the bowler goes for 18.

Smith helps himself to successive boundaries in the over before Du Plessis hits the final ball for a six, the last shot helping Chennai get past the 50-run mark.

Rampaul albeit provides Bangalore some breathing space, having Smith (34) caught by Kohli at midwicket. 

Smith's 17-ball innings was inclusive of four boundaries and a six and he helped Du Plessis add 57 runs (off just 26 balls) for the opening wicket.

Bangalore: 154-6 (20 overs)

Faf du Plessis and Dwayne Smith open the batting for Chennai while it will be Shadab Jakati starting the proceedings for Bangalore. He gives away five runs first up. 

Ravi Rampaul to bowl the second over. Smith welcomes him with a boundary. Du Plessis ends the over with a boundary through midwicket followed by a six over long-off. The South African then hits Jakati over deep extra cover for another six.

A boundary off Ashwin helps Kohli complete a well-deserved half century. The RCB captain has been particularly severe on Ashwin today. 

De Villiers aslo finds a boundary in the over as Ashwin (4-0-33-1) ends his spell in an unimpressive manner. 

Nehra returns to bowl the 18th over and Kohli welcomes him with a boundary. De Villiers also finds the deep midwicket boundary in the over. However, the bowler hits back to shatter De Villiers' (10) stumps. 

Mohit Sharma bowls the penultimate over. He gives away 11 runs, with Kohli hitting the first ball for a six over midwicket. 

Nehra to bowl the final over. Kohli (73) hits a six over deep midwicket off the second ball but plays on in the third. 

The RCB captain's 49-ball innings is inclusive of two boundaries and five sixes and it is largely due to his effort that his team manage a healthy 150 for six.

Bangalore: 101-4 (15 overs)

Ravindra Jadeja replaces Ashwin (3-0-23-1) in the attack in the 14th over. He strikes with his final ball, having Yuvraj (25) caught by Raina.

Yuvraj's 24-ball knock was inclusive of a couple of boundaries and he helped his captain add 55 runs (off 50 balls) for the fourth wicket. 

The second timeout is taken immediately after even as AB de Villiers comes out to bat. RCB reach the 100-run mark in the 15th over.

Bangalore: 83-3 (13 overs)

Suresh Raina to bowl the seventh over. So Ashwin has been held back after just one over. He gives away just four runs.

With Raina and Sharma strangling the Bangalore batsmen before the first timeout, Dhoni hands the ball back to Ashwin immediately after it. 

Kohli smashes the third ball for a six over deep midwicket to help Bangalore get past the 50-run mark. The RCB captain helps himself to another six over the same area in the offie's third over.

Yuvraj gets into the groove with successive boundaries off Raina (4-0-27-0), the second helping raise the 50-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Takawale also gets into the groove with a three boundaries in Badree's second over.

First bowling change for Chennai. R Ashwin replaces Nehra (2-0-12-1) in the attack in the fifth over. He strikes with his fifth ball, having Takawale (19) out leg before. 

Captain Virat Kohli comes out to bat. It's a twin bowling change for Chennai, Mohit Sharma replacing an expensive Badree (2-0-16-0).

He strikes with his fourth ball, Zol (13) swings hit bat, fails to make any contact and sees his stumps get shattered.

Yuvraj Singh joins his captain at the crease.

Bangalore: 16-1 (3 overs)

Rilee Rossouw and Yogesh Takawale open the batting for Bangalore (no Chris Gayle today) and it will be Ashish Nehra starting the proceedings for Chennai. 

He strikes fourth ball, cleaning up Rossouw (1). Good start for Chennai. 

Vijay Zol is the new man in. Samuel Badree to bowl the second over. Zol hits a six off Nehra.

Chennai Super Kings won the toss and invited Royal Challengers Bangalore to bat first in their Indian Premier League match at the Chinnaswamy stadium.

"We have failed to contain the opposition with whatever we have scored. So it puts additional pressure on our batsman," reasoned captain MS Dhoni, "adding, "We have struggled with our bowling."

His opposite number concurred.

"This wicket does play a bit differently during the day," admitted Virat Kohli, adding, "We would have also liked to have a bowl first. 

"But it's still a good batting wicket."
