IPL Live! Kohli, Starc guide RCB to a 9 wkts win over Rajasthan

A clinical performance from Royal Challengers Bangalore has helped them register their second win of the tournament. 

In a mouth watering clash against table toppers Rajasthan Royals, RCB bowlers led by Mitchell Starc restricted the hosts to 131-9. 

Then Virat Kohli struck an unbeaten 60 to guide RCB to victory with 24 balls to spare.

A magnificent half-century from Virat Kohli has put RCB on the front foot in the chase of 131. 

Kohli reached the landmark in just 39 balls, and with a single off Shane Watson. 

De Villiers at the other end too has been going strong, giving the skipper good support and the duo has virtually killed the contest. 

After 14 overs, RCB were 114-1, still requiring 17 runs to register their second win in IPL 8. 

De Villiers is on 38, while Kohli is on 50.

AB de Villiers rotates the strike and gives the strike back to Kohli.

Shane Watson now brings himself on. Chris Gayle has looked ominous, while Virat Kohli is looking more to farm the strike. 

Watson strikes a crucial blow for Rajasthan as he had Gayle walking back for 20. 

Gayle was undone by a slower bouncer and was safely taken by Sanju Samson behind the stumps. 

AB de Villiers gets a promotion up the order. De Villiers gets off the mark with a single off the last ball off the over.

A good performance from the RCB bowling unit has helped them restrict Rajasthan Royals to 130-9. 

RCB skipper Virat Kohli who won the toss and put the opposition in, played his cards wisely. 

After a promising start, Royals lost in-form Ajinkya Rahane early. Since then there was a steady procession of wickets. 

The spinner stifled the opposition and didn't allow them to get any momentum. 

For RCB, Mitchell Starc was the most successful bowler with figures of 3-22.

Mitchell Starc returns with three overs to go and he STRIKES!!!!

Starc had his country-mate Steven Smith walking back for 31. Smith looking to up the tempo was caught by wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik, after he skied one, behind the stumps. 

James Faulkner walks in and he has a wild swing of the bat, only to miss it. The all-rounder gets off the mark courtesy off a leading edge towards third man. 

Binny slashes hard only to hit one straight down David Wiese's throat. Binny made 20. 

After 18 overs, Rajasthan were 122-7.

It has been a steady slide for Rajasthan Royals, who are losing wickets at regular intervals. 

The latest one being Sanju Smason, who played an irresponsible shot and was castled by Chahal for 4. 

Spinners have slowed the progress for Rajasthan and the hosts have found it difficult to score against the slow pace. 

Steven Smith is holding fort for the hosts, but he hasn't got much support from the other end. 

At the end of 14 overs, Rajasthan were 93-5. Smith is on 23, while Stuart Binny is on 2.

Just when things were looking good for Rajasthan, the hosts loose Karun Nair against the run of play. 

Steven Smith crashed one through the off side and took off for a brace, but Karun Nair was slow to react, and Virat Kohli whipped the bails off to have the batsman short. 

Rajasthan were 82-3 after 11 overs. Smith is on 19 and he is joined by Deepak Hooda, who is on one.

Harshal Patel provides the opening breakthrough, as he had Ajinkya Rahane walking back for 18. 

Rahane, was undone by a slower delivery and looked pretty adjacent and umpire S Ravi had little hesitation in raising his finger. 

Yuzvendra Chahal then packed off Watson too, who was looking ominous in his short stay.

Watson, who hit Chahal for a six and a boundary, hit one straight to Mitchell Starc at midwicket. 

Rajasthan were 48-2 after 6 overs.

Iqbal Abdulla continues and he is welcomed by a huge six from Ajinkya Rahane over mid-on. 

Rahane then flicks one for a single towards mid-on. Watson rotates the strike for another single. 

Rahane then plants his front leg and sweeps is for another boundary. 

A single to end the over to make it 13 from the over as Rajasthan were 30-0. Watson is on 15, while Rahane is on 13.

First up is a s brilliant in swinger from Starc -- loud appeal -- but umpires turn it down.

Rahane gets off the mark with a tap towards mid-off. Starc is getting a brilliant shape, but hasn't got his line right at the moment. 

Watson creams one through the off side for the first boundary off the over. The Australian gets an outside edge for a single.

The good news is that Chris Gayle returns for RCB, which means Rilee Rossouw sits out. 

Mandeep Singh too returns to side in place for Manvinder Bisla. 

Rajasthan Royals have made one change to their side too bringing in Dhawal Kulkarni in place of Rahul Tewatia.
