Kolkata Knight Riders CEO Venky Mysore reveals the secret behind signing the unknown mystery spinner KC Cariappa.

"We had him with us during the Champions League in the nets. And some of the legendary players like Jacques Kallis found him to be good and we said lets give him a shot. We were fortunate that we were in a position to take a punt and it happened. So for him, he has got an opportunity, so let's see how he does."

Delhi, who released a lot of players after the last season, went all out at the auction. They spent a huge 7.5 crore for Angelo Mathews, four crore on veteran pacer Zaheer Khan and 3.5 crore on leg-spinner Amit Mishra.

New Zealand pacer Trent Boult also made a windfall as he went for 3.8 crore to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Mumbai Indians purchased Australian opener Aaron Finch for 3.2 crore and Murali Vijay was bought by Kings XI Punjab for 3 crore.
