Tim Southee is on fire today as he had Chris Woakes walking back to the pavillion for 1 to complete his five-for.

Southee has been relentless in this innings and he cleaned up Woakes with a brilliant outswinger, which hit top of off.

England would have hoped Stuart Broad would be able to stitch some sort of partnership with Root, but he played an irresponsible shot to get out for 4.

Southee would now fancy the best bowling record in World Cup and ODIs  considering her has taken six wickets already.

England were 117-8 after 31 overs. Joe Root is the lone ranger with a fighting 40.

Just when Eoin Morgan was looking to break free, Daniel Vettori had him walking back to the pavillion for 17.

But Vettori will have to thank Adam Milne, who pulled off a stunner to send back the England captain.

Tim Southee then stuck in the very next over, removing James Taylor for nought.

Southee, who has used the Yorker well in this match once again, used it to good effect to castle Taylor.

Southee added another victim removing Jos Butler for 3. Butler edged one to wicket-keeper Luke Ronchi for 3.

England are in all sorts of trouble as they were 109-6.

Joe Root and Eoin Morgan have steadied the ship for England somewhat with some quite period in the middle.

Root and Morgan has been quite happy to take singles in the middle. But New Zealand bowlers have given little away and boundaries are hard to come by

Joe Root finally managed to break the shackles with a boundary. New Zealand new ball bowlers have been building up some pressure and Root managed to cream one through covers off Adam Milne.

It was England's first boundary since 45 balls.

Ballance failed to hit a long-hop and instead hit it straight to Kane Williamson in covers.

Moeen Ali and Ian Bell are out in the middle and England would be hoping that the duo would give them a good start. Tim Southee to open the proceedings for New Zealand.

First up is a gentle outswinger as Bell lets it go.

Looks like Bell is weighing on his options as he lets another outswinger go.

First runs on board for England, courtesy of a wide.

Bell gets a outside edge, but falls short of first slip. Southee gets back on track as England were 1-0 after 1st over.
